Like you said, we are most likely going nowhere next year. Is Woody willing to let Rex play out his contract if we have another losing season? Im not sure. I would be perfectly fine with Dennis Thurman running the defense. He's earned it. I would be extremely interested in Bruce Arians in a HC job if we were looking for a HC. He is a very good offensive mind and pretty much led the Colts the entire season. I would be completely fine with hiring Arians with a new GM and have an off-year next year and put us in a position to draft Teddy Bridgewater, a franchise QB. I would be completely fine with a 3-13 season if it meant getting our franchise QB.
Really? So who do we give credit for in taking the Jets to the AFC finals the 1st 2 years, LOL? Rich Kotite? Herm Edwards? Eric Mangini? I guess the Jets players didn't need a coach, they were so competent.
Well there in lies the rub. You're right. All of this is counterproductive if Rex isn't given longevity. My line of thinking is that in which Woody has accepted rebuilding is upon us & that Rex is the LONG TERM solution at HC.
Caldwell said of firing HC Mike Mularkey: as a first-time GM he needed to have a fresh start. https://twitter.com/KMart_LI/status/289479150065037312 Caldwell wasn't getting the fresh start with the Jets.
Wow. #Jaguars owner Shad Khan "made" David Caldwell go back to talk to Jets again to make sure the Jags is what he wanted. He picked Jax https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/289480068764401664
Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN Jags GM David Caldwell on Tim Tebow: "I can't imagine a scenario where he'd be a Jacksonville Jaguar... even if he's released." #nyj
So the Jags will not be taking Tebow off of the Jets hands! Great, just great, the one thing I was looking forward to the most, not gonna happen.
I just don't know why we are bringing back Rex when if the season's a disaster the pressure to fire Rex will be 5x stronger than 2012. And by looking at our roster, does anyone think we are going to win 5 games?
In a word, NO. And you are totally right on Ryan...they will make hime the scapegoat next year even though the roster will be solely the responsibility of Tannenbaum.
I was a big fan of the Ryan hire and was sky high during our two AFCC appearances, but we have to realize the team needs to facelift - the cap situation is a mess, we need more talent via the draft, and better free agent signings. Is Rex ready to roll out with Sanchez again with the same WR corps? Who's starting at RB and who is our TE? Rex is a great coach for a winning team but it's not going to be pretty next year. If we'd fire Ryan with a bad 2013 (I'm starting to think Ryan has more leeway), why delay the inevitable and keep him as a lame duck thus negatively effecting our GM search?
this just in Jags relieve Caldwell of GM duties  wow man I guess we're going to have to use him in some way shape or form
But the stats! Hasn't he seen the stats? Hasn't he seen how many GM's and coaches Tebow could have SAVED?
Caldwell has not seen him throw the deep ball either, I bet he will change his mind when he sees the videos of Tebow throwing the deep ball, and the win against the steelers, don't forget that one either, if anything that will change Caldwells mind.
you keep saying ther same thing over and over again!!! nothing to do with you being a homer or not!!! MOVE ON!!!!!!!!
I really have no opinion anymore on Ryan..positive or negative..I know we could do a lot worse and Johnson says he stays for at least this year so I have stopped thinking about it. Or put another way he got us to two championship games with fucking Mark Sanchez as out QB and who else could have done that? Granted it was the defense that got us there both years but who runs the defense? Ryan.
