You know, you keep saying that every time we talk about a new candidate, but we haven't hired one yet so...........maybe there is some truth to it after all??? I mean, to suddenly ask permission to talk to another guy after speaking to 3-4 guys- that doesn't seem to me like we're doing very well.
I'd subscribe to the 'circus' theory if both Gamble and Ross take jobs within the next week or so. If we get someone outside the organization before they get a job, I'd subscribe to the theory that maybe they didn't impress anyone during their interviews.
Time to lock up Ross or Gamble before they go to somebody else. We requested to interview guys from miami and san diego. I hope we don't have to get to that.
the reason this argument is asinine is it assumes that the people we have hired turned down the Jets and doesn't consider that the Jets simply chose not to hire them. the entire point of the interview is to determine whether you want to hire them, not simply to introduce yourself to the candidate and hope they choose you. there simply isn't enough information on anyone's part to come to the conclusion that a candidate that was interviewed by the Jets but was not hired by the Jets turned the Jets down.
Jets mite as well will hire a female GM for the media attention of being the 1st ever team to hire a female GM. Not to say this Colts guy isn't right for the job but the Jets just look so indecisive on what they truly want.
Our search firm gave us his name on his eve of signing on with San Diego. Woody wanted Caldwell as evidenced by his 2nd interview and now we are interviewing new candidates. Caldwell now is firing Mularkey, a new GM wants his own coach to work with. What a novel concept
Sorry, my mistake. I meant to say "Bolts". Tom Telesco http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000124149/article/tom-telesco-named-san-diego-chargers-gm
Must say him striking gold with 2 Franchise QBS is better then we have had in 50 years i think most people would agree
The Colts have been a powerhouse over the years. Telesco doesn't seem like a bad choice at all. Either way it's good that we're talking to a lot of GMs. The Jets aren't rushing into the quickest decision like they usually do.
1997. Naturally, there were no franchise QBs available. We took Keyshawn Johnson after Parcells tried to get Peyton Manning to leave school a year early and he declined.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong. I thought Peyton wouldn't come out because Parcells wouldn't promise him that he'd be the #1 pick.
