Are the Jets offices bugged by the media or something? Are people wearing wires and taping conversations?

Anonymous sources now providing a blow by blow on interviews with specifics on why the Jets don't like the candidate ?

Wow.....If woody wanted to stop leaks he could , there is now way that more than 3 people knew those specifics before they leaked out .

You see nothing wrong with trusting Rex to pick the coordinators when he picked one that led the O to the 30th ranked offense in the league?

The Jets, scrambling a bit after losing out on Caldwell, put in a request to speak with Telesco this week. But Telesco has pushed that back.

    Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer
Colts dir of player personnel Tom Telesco is in SD, had his second interview there for Chargers GM position yesterday. Down to him & Raye.

Better way to say this: Search firm for #Jets GM seems to be reacting to twitter before they contact candidates

Gotta love the homers on this GM search:

"Candidate A might be who they hire? Hey, that would be great! He's great, and that's why he will take the job because anyone would love to work with Woody and Rex!"

    later...

"Candidate A went to ____? Fuck him. He sucks and I am sure he would have been awful for the Jets!"

This is good stuff, only with the Jets. I have turned everything off but the gang green, its more entertaining than duck dynasty.

Sources: Mike Mularkey likely outUpdated: January 9, 2013, 3:03 PM ETBy Adam Schefter | ESPN Recommend7Tweet9Comments22EmailPrintNew Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell is unlikely to keep coach Mike Mularkey, according to sources inside and outside the organization, although no final decisions have been made.

    More From ESPN.com
Dave Caldwell's first task as Jacksonville Jaguars GM is to decide whether to keep coach Mike Mularkey, writes Paul Kuharsky. Blog

Despite the fact that the two men worked together in Atlanta, Caldwell is thought to prefer a new head coach, such as 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman or Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, according to sources.

The Jaguars gave their assistant coaches permission last week to look for other jobs.

In the 51-year-old Mularkey's first season, the Jaguars finished 2-14 in 2012, the worst record in franchise history.

Jacksonville lost eight games by 16 points or more this season. Not even Jacksonville's inaugural team in 1995 -- a group comprised of mostly rookies and street free agents -- was overmatched as often. Coach Tom Coughlin's rag-tag bunch finished 4-12 back then, losing four games by at least 16 points. The 4-12 record had been the worst in franchise history.

Mularkey, who also has coached the Bills, has a 16-32 career record.

New GM wanted to pick his own guy. no wonder Jets are looking at their 2nd tier candidates

Now does anyone want to argue that keeping Rex did NOT hurt us from getting one of our top candidates???

I think JetBlue still wants to.

  13. Does the combo of Caldwell/Roman really knock your socks off?

Caldwell may have been the jets top GM candidate..but it's not as if the other available candidates are so inferior to him qualifications wise. This isn't Ron Wolfe.

Additionally, We'd potentially be taking a step back at Head coach.

There is no question keeping Rex has turned off some GM candidates.

We all don't know who the best GM will be, Gamble, Caldwell, Ross, Cohen, Gaine...on and on, the one thing that is certain Woody is controling the team, and the new GM won't have total control.

Honestly, I dont think Rex is that great of a HC. I think he's a great X's and O's guy on defense, but thats as far as I'll go. He has zero offensive input, and when he does it happens to be poor, and he has an ever changing offensive philosophy.

You can say he is loyal and is a players coach and a leader, but in my eyes, no leader throws the scouting department and Tanny under a bus like he did for the Stephen Hill pick. Im sure there's multiple instances Tanny could have done the same (Sanchez, Holmes, Kyle Wilson, John Conner ect).

There's no doubt in my mind anymore that Rex had and will continue to have a ton of control. Sparano was Rex's "mirror image"... That was a fail. He wanted to ground and pound... That failed because we didnt have the personnel because he was busy addressing his defense.

Now we let Tanny be the scapegoat and give Rex even more control- help picking of the GM. That has never been done before and is straight up absurd.

Woody's only qualifications for running this team lies in his wallet. He has no more football background than half of the posters on this website. He's a rich bitch and now he's the one making huge decisions for this franchise. What should be done, is he hires a GM and let the GM handle everything else... He can hardly even hire a GM because he now is making the HC untouchable and part of the process.

You would think they would learn...

And like you said, none of us know who will be the best GM out of those candidates, but its hard to like a future with someone from this organization being promoted or better yet someone from the Dolphins. Cohen could be great, so could Gaines... But if I was a betting man, I would definitely put my money on someone from one of the more successfully run organizations.

Not the point whether Caldwell/Roman knock your socks off.

The POINT is the Jets thought Caldwell was the best GM by inviting him and flying him for a 2nd interview. So they lost out on who they thought was the best candidate.

He then takes over and fires his coach. Any GM is going to want total control and anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

  17. All of that maybe true..but what Head coach candidate is better? Who will bring a unit to this team that will perform to the level that Rex's D has?

Personally..I don't think that candidate is out there. Rex has proven he can win w/ talent. So get him a competent offensive coordinator, keep him away from personnel decisions outside of his comfort zone(defense) & rebuild this roster for the long term.

We aren't going anywhere next year regardless of who the GM/HC is. There is no clear upgrade. We might as well stick w/ someone we know can win under ideal conditions when the roster is in better shape.

  18. Is Caldwell a better GM than Rex is a head coach? If not, isn't it counterproductive to eliminate one party to fill in another? Where's the upgrade?

Are their reports of the Jets making any type of pitch/offers to Caldwell? If Rex was the breaking point why did a 2nd interview transpire when clearly that would've been addressed in round 1 of the interview?

    Yes, I agree.

Jet's fans are a real good clown act. They occupy all 3 rings in the big top.
