Potential GM Candidates (Update: Idzik Officially Hired)

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by Murrell2878, Dec 31, 2012.

  1. We're gonna end up getting screwed & stuck w/ Cohen. It's clear as day.

I haven't heard any second interview buzz regarding Gamble or Ross.
    Did i miss something?

Getting nervous at lack of movement on the perceived top candidates.
Doing my best not to overreact, but slow panic regarding a potential Cohen promotion is creeping in.. This GM decision is so damn critical.

Brian Gaine will be interviewing for the #Jets GM job sometime this week, per source.

Really? Please tell me who your sources are? And if we do, I promise it will not be the end of the world. Who knows, maybe we're better

I don't remember reading about the Jets interviewing Dorsey? I added KC to the list and removed DeCosta.

Like I said many times last week the Jets are getting left out in the cold once again. This all starts and ends with Woody Johnson. He truly doesn't care about building a winning franchise. All he cares about is making sure this franchise gets constant media attention and that it's profitable. Those are the only 2 things that matter to him. It's really insulting to us fans and if we end up with this scrub Cohen there will be a huge PSL boycott, I'll sure as hell be one of them demanding a better effort from ownership. This is disgraceful.

In case you haven't noticed, we're interviewing people outside of the organization.

If Woody didn't want to win, he wouldn't have bought a football team. Let's try to use some critical thinking skills.

We're not going to be left out in the cold. Sheesh, it's like people are conditioned because they're Jets fans.

I'm just re-posting this after all the feedback I got.

To summarize without any over reactive bullshit or opinion involved, here's where I see the GM search right now. Please correct me if I've missed any names.

    Teams Looking For GM:
Arizona - Promoted Steve Keim to GM
    Carolina
    Cleveland
    Jacksonville - Hired Caldwell
    Kansas City
    San Diego - Hired Telesco
    New York Jets

    Remaining GM Candidates Mentioned:
    Angelo
    Beane
    Cohen
    Dawson
    Dorsey
    Gamble
    Gaine
    Gettleman
    Heckert
    Khan
    Paton
    Polian
    Popp
    Raye
    Ross

Guys we've heard the Jets possibly interested in:
    Angelo
    Caldwell (Hired)
    Cohen
    Dorsey
    Gaine
    Gamble
    Khan
    Raye
    Ross
    Telesco (Telesco)

Listen I truly hope you're right for the sake of building a winning franchise. However Woody Johnson wouldn't be the first rich guy out there who bought a sports franchise and didn't give a sh*t if they won or lost.

All you need to do is look at Donald Sterling, Clippers owner. He was notorious for not giving a crap about the Clips for DECADES and just cared about running a profitable business. Yes logic would dictate if you spend hundreds of millions that you would want to put the best product out there. However that's not always the case and there's been more than a few apathetic owners in pro sports history.

I don't believe any interview happened.

I had read they were going to interview him last Sat, but it doesn't appear to have ever occurred. So not sure if it was canceled due to lack of interest by either party, or if it was misinformation to begin with.
The rumor is out there regarding Dorsey to KC, but i also heard that rumor regarding Heckert.

If Dorsey has any interest at all though, the Jets should be making a full court press on him, and open minded on what he thinks is needed for him to take on the job.

There are 6 GM's we are interested in that are known. There are 4 other jobs besides ours. Odds are good that we're going to get a guy that is outside the organization.

    Deep breath, everyone

Yeah let's take the Dolphins assistant GM that works with that douche-bag Jeff Ireland. I wonder if he'll ask our future first rounder about his mom being a whore?

With the Jets putting in more requests to interview people, seems like they're not very close on hiring a GM. #nyj

This whole ordeal is smelling more and more like when the Tribune sold the Cubs to the Ricketts family. all the Cub fans were saying graces and cheering that their years of suffering under the "Cheap" tribune company. since the take over the payroll has shrunk and the team's gone from over .500 to progressivly worse and worse records.

In other words be careful what you wish for. If the Jets get an in house candidate as GM the team is going down hill quickly.

Brian Gaine. Jeff Irelands right hand man the past 5 years.
