Why do I get the feeling people would rather our coach come out and talk about how bad we are and be rather pessimistic than hear our coach try to support our team? Like come on with the stupid and senseless bashing.
Belichick is an highly overrated coach, IMO. Take away Tom Brady and he is nothing. His defenses our always at the bottom of the league and they win cause Brady can put up more points than the other teams offense.
I just wish he had come out and told the truth specifically about how he fucked up by sticking with Mark.
this is pretty much what jets fans want out of their coach apparently... "oh god, we were soooo bad last season. i cant even believe i still have a job. i am such a shit coach cause the team fell apart with injuries around us and we couldnt move the ball offensively. our defense finished in the top 10 for a 4th year in a row, first time out of the top 5, with a rotating cast of journeyman filling in for all of the injuries and i dont deserve any credit. really if you just let those guys go out there and play without any coaching theyd probably be better off. ive been holding this team back. the team is full of all stars and im sorry that i havent been able to get them to play at a level that would bring us to the superbowl. we dont know what we are doing out in florham park. football decisions are made by cutting off a chickens head and seeing which side the dead body ends up on after it runs around headless for a little bit...' or something like that
Exactly, it makes no sense to me. I'd rather our coach come out and give a vote of confidence to the players then basically tell them they're awful.
He was far from supportive of Mark yesterday. Hard to say he fucked up when he had no viable alternative.
It was cute when he guaranteed but instead got to the AFC championships. But now with the Jets having 2 seasons not making the playoffs, Rex needs to just shut up and coach.
Nobody learns anything huh ? You do your talking on the field and after games, that's how IT should be done . The thought that a cocky Rex or a confident Rex or a boasting Rex makes him or the team somewhat better is comical ! The reason Rex has not been able to boast or talk shit or make guarantees is because it is hard to boast when other teams a jamming humble pie and crow down your throat !
Woody needs to grow a pair and Rex needs to learn actions are stronger than words, and he is all hot air.
he did shut up this year, he was also quieter in 2011(outside of the combine). Talking doesn't win or lose games, why do people get so wrapped up in it?
How dare Rex speak at a press conference that 99% was up in arms about the Jets not immediately having!
I don't get why people are so against him saying that we will be a team that nobody in the league is going to want to play? Wouldn't you want your coach to have confidence to that extent? It seems like you guys would rather him talk about how he thinks this team is the worst team in the league, like we are doomed and can never be a team that makes another deep playoff run. Who cares? Some of you need to chill out and get over the things he says if it bothers you that much, stop watching/reading the shit.
All I want to see are results on the field, he can talk all the bravado he wants, if he continues to get spanked on the field he should be shown the door.
To me, that was a fireable offense, and although I would have kept him on board for another season, there was just no excuse for being so delusional regarding the play of Mark Sanchez, and thus, I would have understood it if Rex were fired. Rex seems like a great guy and I think he is a good football coach, but he has to learn to overcome his emotional attachment to players. You can't ALWAYS be a players coach. If Rex insists on tying himself to Sanchez any longer, he's going to go down with him. It's really that simple.
I was down for yet another year of Rex, but I see now that he needs to go. Did I hear right, He is going to interview the next GM? Really? could this get any worse. Thank god we have to Knicks.
No, he isn't interviewing the GM. He said on ESPN that he'd be involved 'late in the process' - likely after a candidate has been selected as the preferred option.
