Gamble doesn't interview well. Caldwell went to Jacksonville. You hear more and more about Cohen. The signs are there. What happened to the Jets want to get a guy with college scouting background?

    One thing someone should consider:

If you got promoted because your old boss did a terrible job, would you do the same exact things that caused your old boss to be fired? Most likely not.

Hate to break it to you but if Woody actually had ANY business acumen he would have his PSL's sold already and our cap would not be as messed up as it is. We would have nowhere near as many empty seats as we have right now. He ran a charitable foundation for the J&J Foundation. He didn't raise it, all he did was caretake some J&J money. Rich kid basically...When he went to buy the team, he made a call and said can I have $600mm to buy the Jets? Some acumen there boy!!

Have you never disagreed with your boss?

I'm not saying that Cohen is a good hire, or that he's Tannenbaum 2.0. I have no idea. And unless you can point to a specific example of a move that Cohen was involved in, neither do you.

And for that matter, none of us even know if he's going to be hired yet.

This is all just more baseless speculation by a fanbase that's drunk off of anonymous sources and wild conspiracy theories.

No, it's not just speculation. The Jets are going to appoint Cohen as their new GM -- bank on it. It's so perfectly characteristic of the Jets organization throughout history that it's almost a thing of beauty. Fate has decreed this. It will happen.

    A funny thing happened.

I started working for my company just over 4 years ago. I learned the "ropes" of the company from a guy who was there 22 years and was let go about a year ago. My boss pulled me in the office (he did this with everyone on the team) and asked what I would do if I was running the department.

Then another funny thing happened, we are 6 months deep on implementing about 85% of my suggestions. Promoting from within was a terrible idea.

    *smh

It's becoming more and more apparent as the days pass that the candidates recommended to Woody have all either A. interviewed badly or B. signed elsewhere.

At that point, you have to hire someone and Plan B is the guy that's sitting right there waiting.

Aw, you're so cute buddy. You really are. You'll learn - you will. I was once just like you. As I got older, my nephews and friend's nephews would get like that, and I'd say "you'll see". My friend's wife wasn't a football fan until she met him, now she's a diehard Jet fan. Three years ago when they were good, she told me I was crazy. Now she believes.

You'll learn. You will. Hopefully, we'll still be on this message board together a few years from now and either you can tell me "broom, I know what you mean, wow" or I can say "damn, it feels good to be wrong!!!!!"

I'm beginning to think "bad second interview" means this:

Gamble: Sir, with all due respect, are all of these rumors about Rex having input into my hiring true?

Woody: Well, yes, in a manner of speaking, it is true. Rex is one helluva coach, he knows this team better than anyone and I trust his opinion implicitly.

Gamble: Sir, I really appreciate you having me here, I would love to take over this franchise and get it headed in the right direction, but I feel that it may be somewhat awkward.

Woody: Tom, let me be clear here: Rex is a part of the NY Jets family, and that is final. You are our top choice for GM, and a GM is what you would be. I'm sure the two of you can find a way to make that work. So, when can you start?

Gamble (gets pale, and stutters from complete shock): Uh, well sir, I, uh, I will let you know. I do have another interview I have to fulfill.

Woody: Thanks Tom, we'll be in touch. (turns to his staff) Guys, Tom wasn't on board with the Rex thing, we'll have to look elsewhere.

Focus on who? Anyone who was going to be a candidate for a GM job that's worth anything was already interviewed. You don't wait weeks to hire a GM, it's usually done within two weeks. I mean, free agency is only a month and a half or so away.

Haha, we shall see. For better or worse, I am emotionally invested in this franchise. I just choose to be optimistic.

I would like nothing more than for you to be wrong . We can have a legendary Superbowl party on Gang Green with Rex hoisting up the Lombardi. Maybe Woody can get on the field and say 'To ALL the non-believers: Fuck you. Fuck you, Cimini. Circus my ass. Fuck you, Manish. Go get your sources out my ass. And finally, fuck you Fatcesca'.

And if I'm wrong, at least I'll be 21 soon, so I can drink my sorrows away.:jets:

I don't know. I'm not well versed in front office heros. Maybe we have a super darkhorse candidate somewhere.

Wow, 21. Damn brother, happy birthday (whenever it is) and keep that happy, optimistic attitude as long as you can! Eventually, the Jets wear you down and you become pessimistic to protect yourself. That way, you never expect anything and you're ALWAYS either nodding your head because you knew it was coming, or pleasantly surprised,

What competent GM would want to come to the Jets with the cap mess we're in coupled with a QB they're chained to coupled with an owner that's wrapped around Rex's little finger?

A GM who will have a statue built of him if he makes this team into a wildcard team.

If Woody picks Cohen I would be sick. Good luck trying to sell the fans on it also. The guy that headed up the GM search would be laughing easiest 200,000 I ever made.

    Cohen Had A Great Interview

Now I am getting nervous. If he was such a good candidate how come the other teams aren't asking for permission to interview him. Come on man.

It's called spin....the Jets spin dryer is on full cycle right now....hmmm, maybe I'll apply, I come cheap (relatively speaking) for the position....and I can't do worse than Tanny 2 :D

Hill was playing well at the time. Rex was complimenting the scouting department.

What we've all wanted was change. Bringing in an outsider gives more hope things will start to function differently. It's possible that Cohen will take the job & everything will be wonderful but I'm just not used to seeing Jets get those kind of breaks. The earlier optimism I had when this offseason started is really taking a hit.

Would've preferred they give the Rex/Tanny one more year & then choose to clean house afterwards. It's gonna be Cohen on a 3 year contract & Rex guaranteed to be here until Cohen is released.
