I understand. I like Rex, but that's for a different thread. Rob would be pushing it a little bit, but it would sure be funny. That being said, his defenses are NOWHERE near as good as Rex's IMO. It's clear who got the defensive calling genes in the family.
I am hopeful that the new GM will at least have veto power on coach hiring, since any GM with any sense would not let Rob Ryan come anywhere near Florham Park. Besides the obvious organizational risks, he's just not that great a coach.
At first this was something I didn't want. But media in NY is so shitty anyway. Why the fuck not. Then if Rex gets fired we get Rob as the HC and he hires Rex as DC. We could get this... Forever! All truth, it's reasons like this that I love the off season. Wish Madden 13 didn't take away franchise mode. I so would have done this lol
Rob Ryan on getting fired today: "I'll be out of work for like 5 minutes." Lmfao Did he deserve to get canned? I thought their D was pretty good despite a slew of injuries.
Well, since we're not a real franchise but are in the media business (as per Woody Johnson), why not bring Rob Ryan in as an adviser on defense. What the hell do we have to lose as no one takes the Jets seriously anymore anyway.
lol yeah half their D was hurt. Somehow Jerry is enamored with Romo and Garrett and blames the D for their lack of success I suppose. Good luck with your super bowl goals in 2013
I didn't suggest we bring him here. I want Dennis Thurman as DC and the scheme continuity to continue. I'm just surprised they canned him. I thought he did a good job, scapegoat really.
ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo This season, the Cowboys with DC Rob Ryan allowed 5,687 yards, the most in Cowboys history.
Early in the season they were in the top 3. This was when we were in the 20s and one of my friends was bragging at me because his team finally had a better defense than the Jets.. didn't last to long. Still surprised that he was fired with all the injuries though.
Cowboys canned the wrong guy. Their D had a lot of injuries to deal with later in the season. Garret, the oc, and Romo are the main problem in that team.
Callahan's offense wound up being something like 5th in overall offense. It's really hard to figure out what's wrong with that team.
