Conditions include that Rex will be the HC, will have input on hiring the new GM, presumably including a successful interview, in turn meaning a GM who will "work with" Ryan to develop a new approach to the O when Ryan has NO track record of success in that regard, and that Ryan in effect reports to Woody.

The other "conditions" are as BN enumerated them, which are obvious to even Ryan Homers, those being the Sanchez contract and need to obtain and develop a new Qb, the horrid cap situation and related lack of options in the FA market, the apparent revolt by some group of fans over the PSL's. But those would be there no matter what Woody did today, so those are not the conditions I am referrring to. Still, they are "conditions" any GM would have to deal with. So why add on top of them the conditions that Woody is choosing to impose?

both this morning and just now, he seemed to want us to believe that he can fix this quickly, because that is what will make it better. Look for the Jets to be bullies in all 3 phases of the game

I see he gives Woody credit for his hire not Tanny. Need to cut all ties to his scape goat. Thx for pointing out for us that the owner ultimately is the one who hires everyone in the orgainzation. Maybe Woody should fire himself for hiring you.

Exactly, He speaks to Mike T everyday, they are good friends
Kaye and Lagrecca? don't believe that we can get a top tier GM at this point, based on what they learned from Ryan. But they are in the media, so, what do they know for certain.
They do believe that based on the Ryan love for Woody today, Woody needed to have announced a contract extension for Rex this morning.

Rex will be HC next year. everything you wrote starting with 'presumably' was not said. I seriously doubt Ryan will be conducting any future interview. He may be in the room so Woody, Glat, and consultant firm can assess how the visions of the 2 match up. You don't want to start off with a contentious relationship or completely different vision. But Rex is not making the decision, as many seem to be jumping to.

In terms of QB and cap, that is a challenge not a condition.
I wouldn't want a GM not up to the challenge.
Most teams in search of a GM, are also in search of a QB. After all, failure to address QB tends to get GM's fired.

On ESPN radio he just basically said ground n pound doesn't work. He went on to say he held the team back with the offense he wanted to run. Hopefully this is truly how he feels rather than just blowing smoke.

Bullies on offense? Bullies on STs without Westhoff? Please.

This team has shit personnel on offense. We have Brick and Mangold... And maybe Kerley. Thats it in my eyes. Everything else is a question mark. Holmes is a locker room cancer and coming off a big injury, Hill is an athlete, not a football player and cant catch (also coming off injuries), Keller should be gone, we need to guards, Howard is average, we dont have any playmakers, we have no franchise QB... shall I go on?

We are rebuilding, let that soak in a little. If you expect this offense to suddenly become top 10 just because Rex suddenly wants an aggressive offense, then you will be sadly mistaken. He wanted to win a SB. Did that happen? No

The offense begins with the QB position, and it ends there. Thats all that matters. We have shit at the QB position and theres no real options out there. God how can you be buying into this bullshit so much? Smh.

Lets recap Woody as owner. BB resigns as HC. Tannenbaum takes on Mangini and the team starts to rebuild with a great first year. Brett Favre is brought in year 3 who's idea was that? Mangini is fired and all indications is that Tannenbaum wants to hire Shottenheimer as HC and Rex Ryan is hired. Did he really dump Mangini or was that Woody's call?

I think Woody loves the attention and wants the ability to make crucial decisions and have them carried out. The idea that we are looking for a great GM who is truly independent has already been undermined by the owner.

Say what you want but Mike T and Mangini did a pretty good job taking a very bad roster at the end of 05 and putting together a roster that could compete on the field with anyone in 08, 09 and 10 until the wheels started to fall off on the talent. Rex did a great job with the defensive talent that Tannenbaum and Mangini brought in but he did a terrible job collaborating on roster development and the Offense.

Nonsense. That is just your opinion. As I said many times before the candidates are young and eager to go where they think they have the best chance of making an impact. We are not interviewing egomaniacs like Purcell and or Cower, either would demand full control but I'm sure that they would not do as good a job as the young guns we are interviewing. The fact that Rex is there could be a positive factor more so that a negative one. There are a few open coaching positions as it is and I doubt the GM can immediately fill that with the best HC.
He gets a free ride while he focuses on the real problem.....personnel on the field.
Let see who we get as GM, for my money, the 3 external candidates are top knotch and as you put it, the top five out there.

The erosion of talent in 2011 and 2012 was dismal. That was on Tanny, just like the brain fart to hire Sparano. I'm sure the owner wants critical decisions to be carried out...like any owner should. I feel like most of the criticism on Woody is based on hearsay. I don't believe for one moment Tanny tried to talk Woody out of bringing in Tebow.....yet another insanely stupid move.

don't blame me. I'm just the messenger here. I thought he should've been fired last week along with Tannenbaum. I was just reporting what the drivel he was saying on the radio. Only time will tell, hopefully, we are both wrong, and somehow, the Jets win a SB next season. Don't think for a second I won't be out there for the parade along Park Ave in Florham Park

    Tanny hired Sprano?

Rex took 2 teams that Tanny and Mangini built to the AFC Finals. It took him 3 years to fuck up the team.

By the way it wasn't just BB who told Woody FU, Herm Edwards actually outflanked him getting out.

Rex may as well be HC/GM. It's absolutely rediculous that the whole team was gutted, every coordinator will be replaced, yet the HC still has a job?
This just shows how disfunctional this organization is.

What HC gets to be part of the process of hiring a GM?
This organization operates in the bizarro world!!!

You have some opinions too, it would seem. Oh well.

All I am saying is the Jets have said they are making conditions that a GM will have to deal with. Rex stays. He has input on who the GM will be. (As an aside to someone else, how can someone involved in a hiring process have good input on that decision if they don't meet with the candidate? The fact of an interview itself is not the important point. It is the notion that Ryan will have input.) And in Ryan's PC today he said right in front of Woody that he will be pressing the new GM to succeed. We also know that Woody loves Rex and has kept him when many said Rex should go.

Those are conditions, and no one who disagrees even a bit with any one of them will view those conditions in a positive light when it comes to deciding whether to go with the Jets or elsewhere.

Rex said this afternoon on the radio, that he will not be involved until the end, the outside firm is doing the due diligence on the the GM hire. He also said that his role is still unclear.

They did an okay job collaborating on roster development. They took a WR core with Cotch as the #1 and Stuckey as the #2 I believe, and in two years had #1 Tone, #2 Braylon, #3 Cotch and added LT a pass catching threat out of the backfield. What they failed to do was sustain the talent they created offensively. Add in the QB and RB in 2010 were both Rex/Tanny placed, top 2 WR were Tanny/Rex placed, they did a good job initially. They did a bad starting that offseason continuing the talent level offensively.

Year 3 - You mean like letting go of Woody but keeping Hunter, or extending Sanchez contract, or giving Tone a ridiculous new contract, or trading picks when we needed to beef up the trenches.....yeh or letting go of Smith and bringing in Tebow, or loosing Edwards, or firing the best strength and conditioning coach in the business, that was Rex alright. LOL .And on year 3 Rex lost every bit of talent in the offense and HAD ZERO DEPTH....RIGHT AGAIN.
Sorry but this is totally on Tanny, and although I do agree with your input on talent during the early years with Mangini, let us not ever forget Gholston.

PS If not Tanny via Purcell, who they hell was so insistent on Sparano? Was it really Rex?
