None of the Chargers beat writers have Gamble down as future GM (Raye/Telesco). This is just part of the teams/candidates usual negotiations. Looks like it's a choice between Gamble and Caldwell (unless he's using us as leverage against the Jags)
If you noticed I stopped responding to the "Sanchez was far worse than Smith ever was" nonsense because facts seem to not mean anything to these folks.
Cimini has a bit about the situation turning fluid with Dorsey expected to land in KC, however I don't see any confirmation that his scheduled interview on Saturday was actually cancelled. Maybe the Jets snuck it in?
Jets have to interview a black candidate; it would be wise of Gamble to cultivate other options on the off chance that Ross wows Woody.
"Looks like whoever made this thread jumped the gun" David Caldwell is becoming the hot topic in the Jets orgiization
I started this thread several days ago, and notice it says Gamble "might" be our guy. Hardly jumping the gun when clearly everything is speculation until an official announcment is made.
"And the opportunity in New York has arisen for Caldwell in part because, as we hear it, Tom Gamble’s interview with the Jets didn’t go well." -PFT
Gamble wants to bring a 9ers defensive coach over as a DC right? That would be fortuitous considering Pettine's departure.
Rex made it pretty clear they are going to promote from within. Sounds like Thurman will be the next up.
I wonder why the interview didn't go well. I wonder if perhaps Gamble didn't want to have Rex as his coach where as Caldwell is fine with it. Or it could just be that overall it was a bad interview. Definitely interesting though.
Dave Caldwell was waiting upstairs during the Rex/Woody presser for his interview. I think he's our guy.
i would love to know more about the bad interview that gamble had. is there any news out there about why it was considered bad or who even considered it bad?
Maybe he decided it was a bad interview. Maybe Woody pulled out a list of FO flunkies he wanted to keep around. J/K i think.
