This was my biggest takeaway as well. This, however, begs the question of WHO will be our QB to lead this type of offense moving forward?

I admire your loyalty and trust. A new coaching staff, and a new offensive identity and hopefully, new offensive personnel, that to me says the HC needed to be fired instead of the owner talking about he thinks Ryan is the right person to lead the Jets.

This is fine by me, I hope Rex doesn't change behind closed doors though. I wonder how this will affect the players and what they say to the media also? Everything for now on should be internally. Any brash talk or anything. Let the media guess everything for now on.

That's like saying Herm adopted when he hired Dinger and promissed to fling the ball all over the place.

In the metro media market the smart strategy is to stick to personal BS talking points. You have a huge crowd there all looking to differentiate themselves from the others. If you stick to personal BS talking points you greatly minimize the chances that something that you say blows up on you.

    It's a sound media strategy.

I believe that's what I said. It's hard to make that mistake again when you stick to the script and never deviate from it.

Talking points are good if they feed the beast without creating any unintended consequences. For Rex talking points will always be better than unscripted bloviation, because as entertaining as his unscripted bloviation can be it definitely has unintended consequences.

Also, judging from the PC, Dennis Thurman will most likely be promoted to DC. Reading between the lines it seems like Pettine/Rex had a falling out.

Woody went to an outside organization to help conduct the GM interview search and held interviews when Rex was no in the Americas. How exactly is Rex influencing this?

I like what they have done so far, I'm going to wait for all the pieces to be put into place before passing judgement.

another ridiculous comment, we started a 4th string QB most of that season. Does anyone ever look at anything beyond the stat sheets?

woody said that Rex will have a say in who gets hired. That only makes sense if they plan to have a second interview with candidates they already saw while he was away. Otherwise, it will be the same old process, of the Jets doing things ass backwards

The only things of substance talked about was the following:
    (paraphrased)

    Woody:
"I have a huge amount of confidence in Rex"

"The new GM has to get along with Rex, it will be part of his job."

    Rex :
"My biggest mistake the last few years has been not instilling my personality into the team enough"

"I want to be unpredictable on offense , run the pistol etc"

Rex's first comment above in particular was borderline delusional as one could argue he instilled too much of his personality into the team.

Coming from a Mets fan, Woody is a fine owner.

I'm personally very happy with what I heard from the press conference. It sounds like Rex finally gets it after this year. I believe him when he identifies that his failure is not installing his personality in the entire team. It's clear that the defense plays Rex ball but not the offense.

Now granted, it's one thing to say it, we need to actually see it happen. I WANT to see a Rex style attack offense... let's see them make it a reality.

Chad went down what, game two? Just saying, things could have been a lot better than they were for Dinger and the Jets.

I think that was my point. With Chad and Jay Feidler the idea that the Jets were going to have a big time down the field passing O wasn't going to happen. They were both dead in about 15 minutes.
