The Jets signed a former Pro Bowl strong safety to a 1 year deal in a bounce-back year and he played well. The franchise tag clause was inevitable. If you deny that, you're fooling yourself.

If you really want to bash Tannenbaum, which you seem intent on, maybe you should find a way that can't be smacked down like a dunk attempt from a 5'7" white guy with a 3 inch verticle?

The Jets signed TWO strong safeties with short half-lifes and then drafted what they thought would be the future at the center field position. Throughout Terry Bradway's years as GM, the Jets spent a number of late round picks looking for a free safety. None of them panned out. This year's draft was reminiscent of that. Not surprisingly, because that piece of shit Bradway is still calling the scouting shots for this hopeless team.

Tanny's main fault in his entire tenure with this team was not using what little leverage he had with Woody Johnson to cut that dead marlin Terry Bradway loose when the riptide was full-on pullin dead weight at the end of 2009.

Response to junc's eventual denial of this post:

    SHUT THE FUCK UP

When you're the Jets and every off-season you try the Walmart approach of quick, somewhat cheap fixes, it makes perfect sense.

Yes, Kerry Rhodes. A guy that was happy to be the best defender on a mediocre defense and unhappy to be a role player on a great defense. Perfect example.

    Knew you'd come through.

he was still a talented guy and our D in 2009 was better than any point since.

Let him leave...not worth a gigantic contract and we'll most likely get a 3rd round pick as compensation due to the pro bowl year+money he'll get+position he plays which is a much needed position.

I don't know if it works like this....those teams we take players from(Which we won't we're fucked money wise) will get seperate picks handed down by the NFL.

Maybe we give Miami a 7th round pick for signing Matt Moore or something but maybe that's about it.

Kerry Rhodes showed a lot of potential in 2005 and 2006, played a Pro Bowl caliber season in 2007, and has never been the same since. His ego took over. They aren't just game pieces, junc. They're people like us, except they're not flabby and can run fast. The guy is an egotistical douchebag and that's what we got in 2008 and 2009. Rex figured his deal out early in '09 when he refused to play second fiddle to a short white guy that knew the system.

Now he makes his name with easy stats and LA models and starlets.

He had little to do with the success of the Jets' defense in 2009. And if you try to argue that with me, I will destroy you. And you know it.

I don't disagree w/ you. I think in '06 and '07 he was playing as well as anyone and his play went downhill the next 2 years BUT he was a talented guy that TB brought in. He has to get some credit for that and again our D has never ben as good as 2009 which he was a part of.

He had all the talent in the world. If the TGG server hadn't crashed, I'd quote you a 2005 post with me proclaiming that he'd be an elite safety in this league. The guy has the physical tools.

But I never saw him really contribute to the total product in 2009, in terms of defense. He played like an a-hole (in my book) and there were a few games that he didn't have a chip on his shoulder, but a player's coach like Ryan doesn't kick a guy with physical talent to the curb without good reason.

I mean, really, look at the types of total jackasses Rex puts up with on this team. He sent Kerry to Arizona without blinking. That has to tell you something.

I agree w/ you a lot, I think you are one of the best posters here. It doesn't mean I agree w/ everything but I like the thought process.

I know. (not about my posts, because they have sucked lately, but about the rest) But I also know how much you like to argue. I threw the gauntlet. Usually that means a day and a half argument with the juncster.

It doesn't mean he is def gone, We went to two AFC championships without Landry, Although he is a huge part of this defense now it wouldn't be the end of the world if he went. I still think he is our num 1 priority and he we get a 3 year offer from us , wheather he decides to take it is up to him , Im sure the Pats will be all over him. But in my eyes he owe's Rex for reviving his carrer witch was on life support before he came to the Jets. The Patriots were intrested in him last offseason so will see if they become a player
