Be careful. Pointing out the truth about Ryan will get you labeled a step below a puppy killer. Rex can do no wrong! He is the best head coach the Jets ever had! (which is akin to being voted best looking at a women with facial hair convention)

Offseason is fun... So many enlightened opinions, on so many irrelevant topics.

You are calling out this board for following the media. It's not the media's fault when Rex Ryan acts like a buffoon. The fans are right to question his behavior and how he conducts himself because he is the leader and has been the SELF APPOINTED face of our franchise the past 4 seasons. Do you not get that? How do you want the fans to react when our leader is acting like a fool?

And my point was Rex Ryan should be blamed for not having a viable alternative if Mark Sanchez shits the bed. There were plenty of reports of him searching high and low for a backup QB in the offseason. We ended up with Tebow and McElroy. That's on him.

You're exhausted because you just want to put your head in the sand and pretend that Rex Ryan is Bill Belichick. You blame the media for the circus, I blame Rex. Leaders don't allow the situation to get out of control like it's been the past two seasons. That's really what this is all about. The media has nothing to do with it.

They should have benched Sanchez for a few reasons.
Besides playing like crap, it would have given him a chance to get his head together as well as saved some of his dignity.

No matter what happens with Sanchez' career from this point on he'll always have the stain of this season upon him.

You still don't get it. I give up. You need to take a reading comprehension course. I am not defending Ryan's body of coaching in 2011 or 2012. The only point I made is that nobody should get caught up in this BS that the tatoo caused Ryan to play Sanchez through the 2012 season. See how simple that is? I did not say that Ryan is without fault or that he is a good coach or that he is better than any other coach. And I'm sorry, but the media is playing a big role in the characterization of the Jets. Does anybody other than the beat writers really care whether the Jets held a press conference last week? Does the tatoo really indicate that Ryan was "biased" towards Sanchez and that Tebow was screwed?? Please! It is all such BS.

And the QB situation is mostly on the GM and owner, not Ryan as far as we know. I think Ryan is to blame for the "ground and pound" philosophy, which is archaic and cannot win in the modern NFL.

It's a dumb tattoo no matter who's # is on it.

Unless it had a 12...that would be awesome.

Wow that might be a little too much truth for even me to handle.

The single most important thing is for the Jets to finding a GM who can hire the right people on and off the field. To evaluate talent, draft well, and have a vision. Trying to win quick with FA gave us a brief taste of success but at the cost of the long term health of the organization.

Thank you for having common sense. Thank you so much. This board is full of know-nothings who come up with all these elaborate and nonsensical speculations that are on the level of the National Enquirer.

Our fan base has to be the worst in sports, by far

I'm not even talking offseason. I've barely visited this board since the end of 2011 because it's pretty much unreadable. Someone else mentioned the tards outnumbering the rational people 9:1, I think it's worse. It sucks because there are some good people still here even though most of the good ones were banished long ago, and pretty much every other Jets board sucks.

LOL you are a perfect example of what I was talking about regarding 2011. You had exactly ZERO posts from Oct 2009 to Oct 2011. So you posted nothing when the team was good and once things went to shit, here you come, like the many others who have dragged the quality of this board into the crapper.

It goes in cycles, like the team. I've been reading since 2004. I signed up when we were good and since then it's been up and down. Makes no difference and nobody cares. The board needs people like me to counterbalance the nonsensical ramblings of the Jets fan who still thinks we're good. That would be you.

    Hmmm.

I never thought about it until now, but yes, Rex Ryan's tattoo showed bias towards Sanchez. Beyond creepy.

So true. It seems like people only care about social drama and other irrelevant nonsense.

Nobody cares that Rex Ryan went on vacation after the season and delayed a press conference.

Nobody cares Ryan might have a tattoo.

This is just crap the media makes up to keep the haters interested. If there's nothing to hate on the Jets, there will not be an article about it. Fans getting on the bandwagon with this stuff honestly make me sick. It has nothing to do with football, it's just blind hatred. It's almost as bad as the Sanchez eating a hotdog on the sidelines people. They just look to emotionally react to things and sensationalize things that are really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. These people are here, they're in the stands at games, they're all over the internet. ESPN radio is some of the worst. They just rant and rave like teenage girls. I remember when I heard the one guy (they all sound the same, every show has a dude named Mike with a heavy NY 'sarcastic' accent) make about the tattoo, discussing the topic with Damien Woody. Damien's just like, "Um, I don't care. The man doesn't care what others think, and people are free to get whatever tattoos they want". They kept baiting him to say something bad about Rex but he never did. He basically said it has nothing to do with anything. I just don't get why so many people blindly follow whatever the media says. Why can't people formulate their own opinions?

To the jury I present the following evidence:

Yeah because that totally matters. It's a tattoo of HIS WIFE. Who da fuck cares what jersey she wears. Do you really think Rex was thinking about that 2 years ago when he probably got it? I'd better make sure that I don't put a number on the Jersey even though she likes Sanchez because idiot beat writers and fans might one day criticize me for it if Sanchez struggles.

So true I imagine if we had a home game next week against the Ravens or Houston this fan base would be obsessed about a tat. I wouldn't even bother to look at the back page picture of the Jets SB parade since it's nothing more then none football horse shit.

The only reason I even slow down when there's a good car wreck going the other way is the Jets fans in front of me.

Good point. But if I were to get a tattoo of my half-naked wife wearing a Jet jersey, it would be #21. Not for LT but for Victor Green.

That's fair and when I said outrageous I was referring more to the heat of the moment type comments.

Let me ask you something, do you view Bill Belichick as a leader in this regard?

I don't know if I understand the question.

He's a successful football coach. I do not have any personal insight on his leadership skills or lack thereof.

Have you addressed Rex's role BEFORE the season in helping put together this roster, including the Qb's on it? Seems to me at least from his public statements that Ryan was all in on bringing Tebow here. Which was another way of saying Sanchez would have no real competition in running the team.

Ryan is part of an organization that was all in, and I mean ALL IN, on Sanchez going into this season, all the way back to picking him at #5 in the draft. Ryan has been quoted many times as saying Sanchez will be his Qb as long as Ryan is HC.

It's not just having to choose between Sanchez and Tebow, dude.

Rex has been too loyal to Sanchez for far too long. His tat I agree did not/does not cause that. But call me crazy for seeing it as evidence of that.
