Imagine if we snagged Te`o in 2013, than Johnny Football whenever he's eligible. That'd be fukkn epic.
If Jarvis Jones medical report is as bad as it sounds he should not be on our board. Last thing we need is a shortened NFL career from our top 10 pick. Great talent but huge medical red flag.
I wouldn't want Manti if he was there at #9. I feel like he's too redundant at LB. Not enough speed for the "new NFL" and would not really improve our LB coverage. I'd rather take Ogletree. He may not be as stout against the run, but I want a rangy, athletic, playmaking LB with great speed and the ability to cover a TE. I think Ogletree is exactly that.
we have Demario Davis for that, we need someone to stuff the run and blow up blocks because Harris is getting worse every year. 2015 we should look to replace him
You can have Olgretree, he' a really good player, but is a head case. I follow college Footballs and trust me, the guy has issues. Another Te'o hater.....where are these people coming from??? Anyone that would draft Ogletree over Te'o doessn't have a clue. Te'o isn't slow, he can react and diagnose plays beter than anyone I've ever seen at MLB in College Football. I could careless about Te'o personally, I call it like it is, Te'o is awesome prospect. I don't have a favorite College team, I'm not a groupie, like the Tebow nuts, I called they way it is. I think there are a lot of Notre dame haters.
I would pick Te'O if we could flip Harris for cap relief and a pick and then next year try and grab Anthony Barr in the top 10 or if we're abysmal get my guy Clowney However Te'O would be a luxury pick at this point
Harris getting toward the end of his career, he's terrible in coverage and has lost a step, he was never fast and Te'o is a faster player. Also, Harris a financial nightmare, his contract sucks as much as Sanchez, Harris could be gone after 2013, if they don't rewok his contract, another mistake by Tanny. "Te'o not a luxury pick", he would play right next to Harris and be the leader of your defense for the next decade. Davis hasn't proved much and could move outside. Teams rank their boards and T'eo iwill be at least in the top 5 on most boards come April. You're a need based draft fan, which is the wrong philosophy, you draft the BPA in Rd 1 with a common sense approach. Successful teams don't reach for players.
Davis hasn't proved much because he was raw and was still learning but was fine for the most part. ILB is a strength at least this year. We have no OLB's, no OG, no TE and no RB. As much as I like Te'O and your theory of BPA vs Need to have to play your board with both in play. I wouldn't be mad about getting Te'O, hell I'd try and move Harris or cut him when I can to free up space but I just cant see us doing that
I've said it numerous times, it's moot, Te'o will be gone long before #9. I argue the point with people that would pass on Te'o, if he was available at #9, don't understand the value of a player.
But wouldn't you first compare him to who else is available and how their impact will help the team. Would I choose him over a G or T yeah, a Safety yeah but if there's a stud pass rusher there or elite WR, QB etc...then I go there If we do end up with Te'O however I dont see how anyone can complain about the pick
Absolutely, but there would be no one at #9 other than Te'o that would be the BPA, unless maybe Joeckel fell, but we don't know if he will declare, and it wouldn't happen any way. Again, it's all just talk, Te'o will be a top 5 pick at worst, unless he has a severe injury in tonight's game. My guess right now the Jets will be looking at Lewan, Werner or Jones (if he fell, due to his chronic confdition).

I'm not a Manti hater, I just don't hold him in as high of regard as you do. I think he's a very good downhill thumper vs the run with great toughness and leadership, but I think in terms of the NFL, he's pretty limited in pass coverage. And I know you say he has enough range to make sideline to sideline plays, but I'm not convinced he can in the NFL. In my opinion you can't spend a top 10 pick on a run stuffing LB. Those guys are only on the field for 1st down sometimes with the way the league is trending. If you're going to take a LB in the top 10, he has to be a complete 3 down linebacker with the ability to cover and rush, and that's why I like Ogletree better. If you want a guy who can blow up blocks and help stuff the run like Bart Scott when he first came to town, you can find those guys later in the draft because of their limitations in coverage. I still think Harris is one of the better LB's in the league against the run. Hopefully Davis can develop into a big time 3 down LB. I'd still take Ogletree even with those two guys because you can move Ogletree to the outside if Harris and Davis are locked into the middle. Ogletree has the long arms, frame, and speed/athleticism to be an edge rusher and Georgia considered moving him to rush OLB when Arby Jones got hurt. And I like the fact that he plays aggressively with a chip on his shoulder and has violent intentions. That's something the Jets defense has lacked the last two years. It was nice to see Landry bring that back to the defense this year.
