Wilson's more than an inch shorter than Brees and the NFL is getting taller not shorter. Drew Brees coming into the NFL right now would be at a significant disadvantage compared to Drew Brees arriving in 2001.
I agree about the intelligence, but Wilson is a completely different player on the road than he is at home. Check out his home/road splits http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsRu00/splits/2012/
Agree, no argument, he's a rookie too. Also, Seattle is a great team at home, has been for a while, and weak on the road. Seattle has the best HFA in the NFL.
Brees is a hair under 6' and Wilson is a hair under 5'11"....1 inch, not a big deal. Let's give the Kid some time before you say he's not going to be good, so far he's doing well. You can't argue with his 1st year success.
With any luck Rex will have zero input into the offensive players we pick. Jon Conner tells me all I need to know about Rex's scouting.
Lets see Wilson lead his team to victory on the road in the playoffs against a fellow rookie QB. Crappy Sanchez won 2 on the road his rookie season with a similar defense to what Seattle has at the moment. Home/away should not be used as an excuse...if he's going to be one of the better QB's. I do hope he becomes great because they've got a nice team up there. But I tend to lean towards him being overrated. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Player comparison was Aaron Rodgers. Now THAT is funny. Although in the guy's defense, he did say the team would need to be patient as he developed. The Jets didn't do that. But man was that report off!!!!
He did it!!! Now all he has to do is win 3 more on the road to match Sanchez. I thought he was very impressive today.
I agree with you. It's just that I needed to see a good performance on the road in a hostile environment. Like I said earlier, he's shown he can be great at home, but on the road he's looked very mediocre at times. Today was a good start. Next week will be much tougher, but I hope he can pull it off because I really want to see them go up against SF again. You know Carroll and Harbaugh probably despise each other. That will be a nasty hard hitting game.
For me, its Nassib in the 2nd or wait until next year. Not a great class and Nassib really does intrigue me. Could be Andy Dalton 2.0.
I have a weird feeling we're going to trade up for Geno Smith, I dont know why but when Rex said pistol my mind was blown
We need to take the best available player. It is unlikely that QB will be the BAP at our spot. Trading up or reaching for a QB will not help this team.
Which is exactly why pre judging a QB prospect on the height is such a bad move. So many people get stuck on the number 6'3" or better and it's plain silly. You need to watch the prospect in action, not just the stat line and combine.
