He had success surrounded by the belichick Bots in NE.....fresh blood is better. Of course I would swim across a shark tank if it meant the cowboys signing him as anyone is better than Jerry.
he, like BB, had success b/c they struck gold w/ Tom Brady. Both are failures w/o Brady and haven't we seen enough BB disciples fail?
He might work for the Pats in some capacity, but I'm guessing he winds up in Atlanta working with Dimitroff. Those two are super close and came up together. I doubt he'd get anothe GM gig this quick.
Pioli for head coach! if he is a name Jets fans recognize, who cares what position he has, just get him on the team. I know who he is, that is good enough to warrant hiring him!
One KC guy tweeted that most of the talent on KC was from the prior GM, Carl Petersen. Didn't validate it, but I'm not sure which pro bowlers were under Pioli. The Chiefs do have a decent amount of talent on that team (Charles, Bowe, Flowers, Houston, Hali).
No!!! We want no part of Pioli. When people leave New England they fail. Belichick and Ernie Adams make all the decisions there, including play calling and personnel. Everyone else gets exposed when they leave. Think about this, KC had a former NE coach, GM and QB and they were by far the worst team in the NFL. It is not a coincidence that McDaniels doesn't want to interview for head coaching jobs, he doesn't want to be exposed again.
Wasn't Pioli's first move to give up a high draft pick and big contract to Cassel? Sounds a lot like the reason Tanny is fired. Pass..
He's Parcells' son-in-law. I want nothing to do with anything related to the Parcells tree or any ex-Jet in any capacity. We need a fresh start.
Who would you rather have as GM? Pioli or Heckert? I know Caldwell / Dorsey / Gamble / Ross are all slam dunks over those two.
Heckert really isn't a bad choice. I just don't want to deal with perception of 'the Jets get it wrong again and hire a guy from a losing team'. There would be criticism before he even started which in reality is not warranted. but i'd rather avoid the negativity to start a tenure. if it came to it, i'd go Heckert over Pioli, and maybe even Ross tho.
The problem I have with Heckert is that his accomplishments involve restocking a team that basically had nothing. You can argue now that the Browns aren't far from winning more games... but their situation doesn't closely resemble ours. The team doesn't need a ground up rebuilding, just the offense. I feel that ANY of the other candidates have a stronger background to accomplish that. Dorsey and Caldwell in particular.
Not to go the Rex route with this sentiment but the last thing I care about right now is perception. Perception was that Jerry Reece made all the wrong moves two years ago before the Giants won the Super Bowl too. Perception right now makes now difference to me so long as whoever it is delivers results. Not that anyone has a crystal ball on who that candidate may be
