But seeing how much of a mess we are; And maybe finding a stop gap QB could possibly possibly allow us back into the playoffs keeping rex for one more year while the new GM evaluates everything. Cap, FA, Draft, Coaches, Players ...etc ever corner. Then if nothing pans out or we still regress he can just fire rex I dont see the big deal it allows him to not have to worry about HC
The GM can still negotiate a new head coach into his signing. Rex is not the head coach until the season starts. Just throwing that out there.
This what I'm thinking. This team is going to struggle next year. Keeping Rex means only the offense will struggle mightily while the defense can get by. Letting Rex go means the defense will struggle along with the offense. A GM might want to retain Rex if a) they have nobody they want to bring along, b) they want to focus primarily on offense this offseason since Rex can get by on defense. Now a GM might say he wants Rex gone and I'm sure Woody will let the GM do this if the GM has a candidate to replace REx and Woody really wants the GM. It's better to let the future GM decide than decide before the GM gets here. At least that's how I feel.
Give me Gamble from San Francisco. Lot of high praise for him and comes from a winning organization. Him or Tag Ribary of Seattle are my first two choices. If the Jets decide to blow it up and fire Rex, I'd call Cowher and give him a blank check and the coach/GM title - full authority to rebuild and do things he sees fit.
I'd like to see them hire Marc Ross. Considering they will be struggling with the cap in the short term, they are going to need a GM who has an eye for talent in the draft, particularly in the later rounds. The Giants have had some of the best later round draft picks / undrafted pickups in recent memory. The Fact that this guy is their director of College scouting tells me he was the one with the eye for the talent. Make it happen Woody.
Sporano was a terrible hire ,,I hoped it would somehow work but hated it from day 1,,,I mean how good was the Dolphin offense while he was there ? We all hated Shotty and wanted him gone but this guy would not have been ANY of my choices ! What is funny is that he is STILL CURRENTLY employed by us and should have been released by 5 pm sunday . I hope and pray Woody and the rest of them get this thing right !
He has done a good job with Cleveland but in that division its hard to win a ton of games. He also never got them a Franchise QB, which is something all GM's and HC's need to maintain their jobs
i just hope this is not a dog and pony show, only to end up with a guy who already knows rex, namely the current asst. gm cohen. there's no way i want anybody trained under tannybum to end up in control of the team.:shit:
Maybe he's getting fired after all. Maybe they'll use Skype in the interviews. Maybe he didn't go to the Bahamas. You would think someone with such juicy info would take a picture of him. After all, it would give meaning to the whole 'CIRCUS' and 'EMBARRASSMENT TO THE NFL' angle.
Doubt he'd come here (or we'd want him) but Pioli's out in KC: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000121912/article/scott-pioli-kansas-city-chiefs-part-ways
Definitely, and Tom Gamble would say, "oh fuck Sanchez and Tebow on the Jags?" *Signs contract to be GM of the NYJs* Trolling of the Jags complete.
Jets expected to hire Gamble. Pretty pumped! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/04/g-m-dominoes-could-start-falling-soon/ Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
This actually cracked me up after all the tattoo shit today. If you only knew what was to come when this was posted. He sure is in the Bahamas, and someone sure did take a picture.
