I blame the fans who deserve rich kotite for running a good GM out of town and trying to run a good HC out of town. I don't blame people for being upset and fed up w/ Mark and I realize it's hard to see past that as we all want results yesterday but the reality is the cap hit it too large to release him and he's going to be here so why not give it one last attempt to rescue his career which showed so much promise a year or 2 ago?

I see it happen all the freaking time. They can run routes correctly, it's just that our QB insists on throwing things into triple coverage.

He doesn't deserve to compete for a starting job and really doesn't deserve to be on the team. He starts next year, I guarantee that Metlife stadium will be empty. But hey, that's alright because your golden boy is out there messing shit up.

Good GM's don't create bloated contracts that cripple the team for years to come. They also don't extend mediocre at best players...

One last attempt...that was the Buffalo game. You know what he did...he stunk the joint up.

After the Arizona game...most people thought that him getting benched would set his mind straight. What happens next? He proceeds to throw ONE touchdown in two games and loses the ball 6 times. He's thrown 1 touchdown in the last four games he's played. ONE. That is truly unacceptable.

Of course my mind would not have changed. But his stats further show why he shouldn't be starting in the NFL in any capacity.

2012 Mark Sanchez I never again(add in the final 3 games of 2011) but 2009, 2010 and 2011 first 13 games was a winner. I want that guy back and to keep developing. Maybe it isn't possible? maybe he never comes back? it's worth one more shot though, again not handing him a job but making him earn it back.

You make some good points, especially about EARNING the job next year if he and Rex are back (likely). My concern is that Rex will spend the offseason convincing himself that Sanchez is still the savior and no one will even get a shot to displace him. And, there is an alternative between throwing an INT and taking the sack--It's called throwing it away and planning for the next down--the Jets obviously have not enrolled in QB 101 yet.

To The Sanchez Sucks Brigade: Please explain just 1 thing to me, civilly and honestly:

if the guy was/is so terrible.....then how come he was middle-of-the-pack his first 2 years and was better-than-average in the playoffs the first 2 years ?

How many QB's not named Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rothliesberger have been better in the playoffs -- or even better relative to their regular seasons -- than Sanchez ?

If this guy leaves and then starts getting QB ratings in the 90's, you're all not going to come here and bitch and moan saying "I don't know why the Jets didn't find out why he was so bad in years 3 & 4 when he was pretty good the first 2 years, we rushed things instead of asking WHY he 'regressed' at a time when 95% of QB's get better."

If he leaves and does well, good for him. I doubt that's happened.

It seems as though, as someone else has said, when we ask him to air the ball out, bad things happen. If he just remembered his fundamentals from college/high school, we would have won a couple more games. It's ridiculous nonsense that can't be blamed on his receivers/blocking/wind/Rex's fat.

Quarterbacks have down years, but none of them regress to the point of them becoming shit. They were either bad to begin with and got worse, good and had a slump year (that is still not bottom tier), or good and consistently remained good/improved.

The fact you're defending the worst QB in the NFL speaks wonders. What team in the NFL, minus contracts and whatnot, would trade for Sanchez straight up...?

The fact that you are incapable of seeing (or even pretending to consider) cause and effect relationships is what is alarming.

Mediation, confounding, interaction. Look them up.

The bolded is a fair line of inquiry and I will answer it on two distinct, yet equally convincing, (i hope) fronts:

    1) From a strictly logical point of view, it simply isn't relevant how good he may have been two or three seasons ago. The fact of the matter is, he sucks now and has sucked pretty consistently for the past two seasons. For arguments sake, let's suppose that, in 2009 and 2010, Mark Sanchez played like Joe Montana in his prime. This verity, in and of itself, would not change the fact that he sucks NOW. Going forward, the only pertinent considerations are those which can be thought likely to impact the future of our football team. As a result of this cold reality, most rational (and objective) people consider the fact that Sanchez has been putrid the past two seasons as very strong evidence that he will suck in the future, as well.

    2) Due largely (in my estimation, anyway) to the fact that Sanchez was so unbelievably (and shockingly) bad this season, there has been this collective effort on this message board to revise history. Namely, Sanchez's first two seasons have been glorified and overrated beyond belief by irrefutably delusional Jets fans. He was always the single biggest weakness of the 2009-2010 teams and most of us repeatedly and perpetually expressed just that throughout those seasons. The truth is that he has always been a below average quarterback. In 2009-2010, our team was strong enough to play around him and overcome his mediocrity (and sometimes, outright ineptitude). These past two seasons, not so much.

My friend ... Sanchez is the worst QB in the NFL. Do you really not see that? Absolutely amazing.
Don't take my word for it. Just listen to almost any analyst in the business ... especially former players. Everybody sees it but you and JUNC. Anyone who thought he had some upside has long since come to their senses, and now realizes that he'll never be a quality NFL player. You two guys are the last holdouts ... for God only knows what reason.

Tell you what ... post any link you can find that shows a current NFL analyst or player talking about the promising future of Mark Sanchez as an NFL QB. Show me something where anybody thinks he's shown any improvement over his rookie year. If you can find any article or video, I'd love to see it.

Guys don't suck for 4 years and suddenly "un-suck". It doesn't happen. And NO ... he's never played well. You're going to show me a game or two where his stats aren't a disaster?? That's hardly an argument. The fact is, there's a very clear four year record for everyone to look at ... and he's graded at the bottom of the QB rankings in every way QB play can be measured for all four seasons. Like it or not, that's the truth ... and it's been clearly documented.

Do you dispute that? Then show me the numbers that back up your argument.

What many ignore regarding Sanchez is that he is running an EXTREMELY conservative offense. This guy did not even crack 3k yards. This is leather helmet, Stone Age football.

Guys like Rivers and luck have a comparable amount of turnovers but are forcing the ball down the field and producing points. Sanchez is running an Alex Smith type offense except he turns the ball over 4x as much. It is unacceptable for a game manager to lead the league in turnovers. GIven how basic and run oriented this offense is, he should have less than 10 INTs every year (ala other game managers like Smith, Wilson etc)

I have already shown you stats, you didn't like them. Two consecutive playoff appearances. I'm not saying he has played great consistently. I was arguing that there were times when he had, refuting the argument that he has never been good.

Since that second playoff appearance he has a losing record and has become a turnover machine with zero self confidence.

But the poster is right about the terrible contract Tannenboob handed him making it almost cap suicide to release him until theend of next season

Unless they can find a team willing to trade our contract fiasco for one of theirs (Flynn) the only solution really is to sign Matt Moore for reasonable dollars with incentives for starting, have him compete with McElroy in TC this summer, draft a midround development qb in April and bury the turnover machine at #53 on the roster every week running the scout team and appearing on the inactive list

If you only looked at his stats from the 2nd New England game, he actually had a decent game. Watch that game and you'll see a dogshit QB at work.

These Sanchez apologists went from saying his career arc will mirror Eli's, to now saying he'll be Alex Smith part 2 "if he finds the right oc"

As former GM Charlie Casserly said recently, Sanchez is playing terribly right now, he is at his worst. However, he lacks the proper skills and tools to be a franchise QB. Even if he were to get back to his form of 2 years ago, he would still be a below average QB.
He is, and was always crap, and sadly, I don't know if I should feel better because I knew it all along from draft day, and it took 4 years for the rest of the fan base to see it, or feel sad that we lost 4 years because of him, and didn't even take a look at recent 2nd and 3rd round QB picks who on much better teams than him, but are still playing light years better than him.

he was a top 10 type QB 2 years ago so how would that be below average?

Mark Sanchez was NEVER a "top 10 type QB", throughout his career he was never really good. He just did things here and there that made you say that if he puts it together he can be a good QB.
