That was a huge win for the Heels w/o Reggie Bullock but that may have helped w/ hairston starting and igniting the team. I expect this Heels team to keep getting better, that was a big win for a fragile team. UNLV is going to make a deep Tourney run, Bennett is an absolute beast. Depending upon who is in their bracket this is a team I could have as a FF team. They played very poorly in the 1st half but you can see the talent they have and they will be a force in March.
Jimmy b just got #903 tonight. SU looked good tonight. After how they have been playing it was nice to see.
I would like to thank ESPN.com for reminding me why I hate Gonzaga so much. On Monday, #10 Gonzaga defeated #22 Oklahoma State by one point, mostly due to Oklahoma State shooting 63% from the free-throw line. ESPN.com responds by making this the front page story, as well as four seperate stories, one of which declared Gonzaga this years National Champion: http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebask.../could-few-have-his-best-team-ever-at-gonzaga The same night, #9 Minnesota blew out #18 Michigan State by thirteen. ESPN responded by posting the Box Score. Welcome to the wonderful media creation known as Gonzaga-mania.
But the performances clearly are now. One team domianted the game and won by thirteen points. The other team won by one point, largely in part because the opposition shot 63 percent from the free throw line.
MSU shot 20% from the FT against Minnesota and it was a close game, MSU led w/ about 6 mins to play, MSU was down 1 w/ about 3 mins left and OSU only missed 4 FTs, 1 of them came late down 2 but that's part of the game. They didn't miss 20 FTs.
MSU was so thorughly dominated down the stretch, that if they shot 100% from the FT line, they would still have lost the game by 5 points. This is an Izzo coached team that was beaten down when it attered most. If Gonzaga played the exact game against MSU on its home court, ESPN would be demanding a trophy presentation.
it was a 1 pt game w/ 3 mins left, the game was anything but a domination. Minny ran away w/ it late. You have a Gonzaga bias the way I have a duke bias.
Considering they are yet to play a game without a healthy Moser with Bennett and Birch in the mix they could be very good. I think Moser was forced into the game but you could see he clearly wasn't reasy to play. McAdoo is a good player, I liked the two games we played against you guys. Two pretty good games and hopefully Roy and Dave will decide to do it again unlike the gutless rat who stated on Las Vegas radio there was no benefit for Duke to play UNLV either in Durham or Vegas.
Absolutely horrible rule if they change it...rather then changing it so coaches can't force kids to stay when they want to transfer they want to allow kids to not have to sit out. All it will do is allow the big schools to target kids they missed on out of high (like Seth Curry). These schools can't go after the better mid level coaches anymore because guys lie Shaka Smart, Brad Stevens and some of these other guys have decided to stay at their school so now they will allow the money schools to target a kid immediately if there is a hint of trouble at his current school. This would force more kids to transfer knowing they won't have to sit... a great way to crush cinderella before the dance even gets started.... http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...-rule-could-have-big-effects-on-college-hoops
Anything the NCAA or more importantly any of these conference commisionors say is for academics is a joke. The minute college sports began to be run like a business is the day they began to kill a great thing. I would imagine the day they stopped allowing these schools tax emempt status is the day things would begin to return to normal. Ohio State is run like a business, they make more money then most businesses yet they don't pay tax on any of it and on top of it receive how much in federal and state tax dollars every year?
For what it's worth the WCC commish released a tweet that seemed to be ripping Gonzaga, the Catholic 7 also had a meeting today in NY and Gonzaga released something with Mark Few quoted as saying "we need to do what is best for Gonzaga" there are also rampant rumors that BYU is coming back to the MWC. Something is a brewing and I have no idea what.
Really pissed SJU lost. It was a game the should have won. They play @ Cincy tomorrow and I'll be there.
I just saw that the Catholic 7 are going to get a TV contract worth at least 500 million dollars over 12 years... guess those crappy football programs were holding them back afterall. You have to think that would give some validity to the story about Gonzaga and St Mary's coming East to join up with them. Looks like Hackett's dream is about to come true. Gonzaga in the same conference as Nova
another awful showing by the heels, after starting out the 2nd half on fire at UVa taking an 8 pt lead they tanked it. This feels like 2010 all over again.
