I find it extremely unfair to make someone like Clowney play three years of CFB

For example, look at Clowney. He is NFL ready and he probably was NFL ready last year.

I think the NFL should every now and then grant exceptional player status to someone like Clowney, so he doesn't need to wait three years to get drafted.

If you actually thought about it, he would be the #1 pick without a question this year, and he isn't even draft eligible.

Not to mention that its simply unfair to his development make him play against inferior competition for another year.

If there was an exceptional player status rule, it would still enforce the same three year rule, but it would allow guys like Clowney to jump straight to the NFL after a year or two.

I dare someone to find something in his game that would tell you that he isn't ready for the NFL. He is a beast that is simply too athletic to be blocked by a college offense lineman. Heck, Taylor Lewan didn't even do that good of a job today against him, and Lewan is the second best tackle prospect in the country. Michigan had to purposely run plays away from Clowney because they knew that they had no chance if they gave him a real chance.

To conclude, I think its unfair to make players that are ready wait the mandatory three years. I am not saying that every year someone should be granted exceptional player status. I mean, how often is a true sophomore the best player in CFB? I think it should be granted to once in a decade talents like Clowney.

He should have left HS at 17, got his GED, went to college and he'd be draft eligible this year

anyway I want him to stay and I want us to suck so bad that we get the #1 pick and add him to our stout defense

hopefully Rex isn't fired as a result and can coach him up

I say draft a young QB(Bray) and develop him in season, let him play and learn at the same damn time. Then we get Rex his pass rushers and give him one last year to bring us back into the playoffs. I mean Marvin Lewis has been with Bengals since 2003 and is just getting the team he wanted

I got a bad feeling about next year, I think our offense is going to be a disaster early on and thus losing a lot of games then we go to our young guys and let them finish out the year maybe win a game or 2 but I only see us winning 3 games unless something big happens but honestly its not always a bad thing to suck, the Colts wouldn't trade their 2-14 season for the world and if we go 3-13 and already have a young QB in place(my hope is Tyler Bray) and we have a top 2 pick then I'm picking Clowney and giving Rex Ryan one last shot at getting us to the playoffs, hell I'd trade an RG3 type package to get this kid thats how great he is and how much we need a stud pass rusher

All Clowney has to say is "look at my teammate Marcus Lattimore. I don't want my career to end in college"

I don't think there will be a worse team in the NFL than Oakland next year so I am already forseeing Clowney as a Raider.

However I have a vibe that Bridgewater will be a Jet. Now its whether we trade up for him or if we suck that much to land him. I prefer Bridgewater on the pro level over Johnny Football but both should do just fine.

Oakland would choose a QB I think and I think we'll be right behind Oakland and another team, yeah I see us top 3 next year in the draft.

    Oakland- Bridgewater
    Arizona- Manziel
    New York- Clowney

Jags will probably be worse then us, maybe Browns and Bills too.

I don't see Jets as a bottom 3 team...might be a top 7 team at worst but A lot has to go go wrong.

Might be looking at a DE/OLB type of Tuitt(ND) where we'll pick.

I would hate this scenario so much. I mean, to think we are the 3rd worst team in the league and we don't even get a franchise-type Qb. Clowney is great, but he's not more valuable than a Qb like Bridgewater IMO.

    isn't Tuitt a 3-4 DE

As far as projecting where we'll pick

I think we finish last in the AFC East and have a top 5 pick. Miami has like 5 picks in the top 3 rounds and improved a lot. Buffalo has more talent and will like get a new HC and QB. New England is New England and then we have a very tough schedule.

    vs AFC East 2-4
    vs AFC North 1-3
vs NFC South 1-3- we cant keep up with high scoring teams like Atlanta and New Orleans and then we split Carolina/Tampa Bay
vs Raiders and Titans- split 1-1

thats 5-11 and I see Detroit, Cleveland and Kansas City all improving from last year. I think Tennessee is an 8-8 team and then you never know with Jacksonville because they have talent.

we got a tough road ahead and its not always bad having a few consecutive drafts picking in the top 5 or even top 10

If we pick in the top 10, you figure Rex is out and there might be a chance to go 4-3 again with Coples, Mo Wilk and some others being more for the spot(David Harris might be the lone guy out of luck but I think he can be cut after 2013 with no real penalty?)

I doubt the new GM fires Rex and then switches a D with a ton of 3-4 personnel though. I can see him being canned however but again it all depends on why the team picks in the top 10. I still say Rex should coach out his contract or at least get a more competitive offense to help us win games

Its ridiculous. Clowney has nothing to gain, except for the Heisman. In terms of draft stock though, he has nothing to gain, only things to lose.

Lets say he suffers a Marcus Lattimore type of injury, that will effect his draft stock, even though he is a once in a generation defensive prospect.

Its pretty simple. He is ready for the NFL, good enough to make an impact in the NFL right now, and he has nothing to gain by staying in college. This is why the three year rule is BS.
