Again, just your opinion. I disagree completely.

He is a great HC, who will be back in good standings with the fans once he gets a roster with some talent, we will be back to contending in the playoffs.

You are looking at some really lame excuses in my opinion as well, instead of looking at the guys overall body of work. Which is impressive given the talent he has had to work with.

    Two straight AFC title games.
    Top 10 defense every year
A winning record as the HC of this team.
Has proven to be able to coach and win be time playoff games.

Thats just some of it. It goes both ways bro. Every HC has his flaws, it's all about learning from them. Rex has learned and changed every year he has been here, he has become a much better overall HC then he was, and I personally think he is going to be a great one of we stick with him.

I dont need to realize anything. There are multiple incidents to support the fact that Rex is over his head as a head coach.

Rex showed this season that he learned nothing from last season.

The onus is on you to show what he learned,....examples, please.

Ok but none of that addresses the guys point, Rex IS a lame duck head coach with a one year (at best) leash at this point, he was right on.

Golic and Rusillo are talking now and the summary of what they're saying:

-Unusual to bring in a New GM and still have your incumbent HC in place but has happened before

-They need to bring in a GM who has no ties to Jets franchise whatsoever and clean house completely (minus Rex). Are Bradway and Cavanaugh still lurking? They need to be gone asap.

-Is a New GM going to want to come in here if he can't clean house completely instead of just serving Woody Johnson's personal wants.

It sounds like the real problem with this franchise is Woody.

Hopefully keeping Rex doesn't impede our ability to get a top GM.

From the statement Woody put out he says Rex is going to be the head coach going forward.
No way new GM will have option to fire him.

That's my worry, no professional GM is going to be forcefed RR and all his antics if he doesn't want him. So we're either going to hire a weak GM who simply is a yes man to Woody, or Rex's job isn't safe at all. At best Rex has one year to work a miracle with what will be a cap strained relatively talent-less 2013 team.

2013 will be painful, the rebuild won't start officially until 2014.

What makes him a bad HC?

I must be missing it. The guy has brought the best out of both sides of the ball, and the offense was the worst I've seen in years, if not the worst. What was he supposed to do about that train wreck?

I don't get what he is apparently doing that is so wrong? All the guy has done is bring great defense to the table and get us to two significant AFC title games his first two years. It's kinda hard to repeat that success when your roster falls completely apart and it isn't refilled with the tools you need to be successful.

How is that his fault? Even without a great roster he has kept this team competitive, isn't that what you want out of your HC?

Face it, the past two years we had no bussiness even sniffing around the playofffs. How we ended up a .500 last year blows my mind..

I supported Rex until he kept on insisting on Mark being the starter. THAT's when he lost my support. If Sanchez is still on the roster in 2013 he will be the starter. If Mark starts the season will be lost IMO.

Didn't he also say Tebow will be with the Jets for a long time? A statement made now means nothing, Woody has to give Rex the vote of confidence, until the new GM comes in it means nothing.

A new OC, an above average QB will do wonders to this team.

Rex is not the greates HC but he can take us to the promised land with a little help on the offensive side. I applaud Woody for sticking with Rex even after firing Tanny.

Yep, this is the fear of bringing Rex Ryan back. His blind loyalty to Sanchez for no good reason. If Sanchez starts next year then the season is over bottom line.

Rex is here now, as in with no gm. Woody can interview guys saying you can show Rex the door but Rex is the scapegoat next year. The gm gets one free year where all blame will fall on Rex. Also the HC job becomes more attractive
Next year as the team is on an upswing not in cap trouble

OK, look at the other options on the team. He was the best person to win games for this team, which says a lot about this roster.

What else was he supposed to do? Play Tebow? Come on...

Yes, you are. Rex is a GREAT DC. HC, not so much.

He was trying to build up the only option we had at QB. There is nothing wrong with that, he was the only thing we had to fall on. He benched Sanchez, he knows that it is over with him or he would have continued to play him even with the playoffs out of sight.

He might be loyal but he isn't stupid. Sanchez won't be playing for the Jets next year unless the cap situation is absolutely atrocious, in that case you are stuck with the kid. Mr. T really fucked us with that contract.

    OMG..

I'm tired of these simplified one liners about how Rex isn't a good HC.

I haven't heard one valid reason on why Rex is a bad HC overall. Sure he has some minor flaws that a lot of HC's have, but overall he has proven way more than he hasn't. I just don't get it.

I disagree with both statements. It is not necessarily the case.

If the GM coming in has an inkling about coaching, they will recognize RR's abilities as an HC and would most likely retain him. No prospective GM is going to pass up a job because he wants to bring in "his guys".

If someone like the Ravens right hand guy to Ozzie is brought in - do you really think he is going to bring Harbaugh with him? What prospective GM has a coach to bring? Do you really think Polian is going to woon Tony Dungy into coaching again - and without Payton Manning - do you really think Dungy is a good coach?

If you do then I am very happy you don't work for the Jets FO.

Rex is classified as "polarizing" because the NY media gave him that label. The rest of the league would have no idea about Rex and his statement if this was Kansas City or even Miami. You are a drone to the NY Media's drum beat.
