as I have said before. Next year is the last year of the era of Rex if he doesn't get the Offense good... which begins with step 1: NOT starting Sanchez.

I agree with you but it's a tough call. I mean the point of professional sports is to win. If you have a guy on your roster that is not only awful on the field but a polarizing figure around this town such as Sanchez then maybe the best thing to do is just get rid of his scrub ass altogether.

Then again if they keep him for one more year then the Jets don't take as much of a cap hit and gives you room to maybe sign another player or two.

However he is sooo bad that in the interest of building a winning mentality I think that getting rid of him may be the only thing they can really do at this point.

I don't agree with those that say you give it one more year. That's bs. If it's broke then you blow the thing up now.

Eat the garraunteed money and trade him to Seattle for Flynn.

What motivation would Seattle have for taking Sanchez for anyone, much less Flynn? We can't give them draft picks, we need them too badly ourselves.

Common sense is keep him because you save money by sticking him as #2 QB than actually cutting him. Trading him would be a one sided trade against us so that rules that out unless we find a sucker to take him on a fair trade.

So yeah, you keep and use that extra money saved to improve lots of other positions that also need improving

Play hard ball, and yes Rex can't be involved. Let him know that he will never start for usat QB. He will bulk up and be on special teams. Hit him during practice every chance you get and he will negotiate the guaranteed money. If not make him try to earn or make him quit.

its not apples to apples...the dead money alone makes it a double whammy to get rid of him as his contract currently stands.

I'm fine with letting him gather dust on the bench in 2013, provided the Jets draft or acquire a new starting QB. I understand that cutting him is not really an option due to the salary cap. Under no circumstances should he even be given passing consideration for the starting QB job. He is an absolutely atrocious football player.

Just tell him he will play the same roll at Tebow did this year and will have no shot at starting. Learn how to punt protect or make a deal and will will release you.

Why do you tell him he has no shot at starting? Why do any of you hold the either you are or you aren't attitude?

I agree that, should he be a NY Jet next season, they NEED to tell him that his chance at being the starting QB is in serious question and he will have to outperform every single QB on the roster in order to be considered. Heck, even tell him that at the moment he is the #3 QB.

What does this team gain by paying a man 8 million and not giving him a chance to actually succeed?

Nothing. It serves absolutely NO purpose to do that. Put your anti Sanchez shades on the table and think about what puts this team in the best position.

A backup QB is someone that might have to actually come in the game.

The Jets will be a better team without the cancer that is Sanchez, even with a lower payroll.

Wait a minute ... there's a cap hit?? Wow ... who knew? Thanks for breaking that story. By all means ... let's keep the guy.

    Are you really THAT lost?
The guy can't play. Not even a little.
So your solution is to keep him around just to hold a clip board? That's brilliant. A $17 million dollar desk. Yep ... that's just what we need around here. Or do you actually want to see him step on the field as a Jet again?
Please tell me you know a little more about football than that.

It's really not that hard to figure out. We're not splitting the atom. You bite the bullet, split the hit over two years and move forward. Why don't you take a look at how much dead cap money the Colts have this year. You can research it while you're watching them in the playoffs.

While you're at it you might want to see where Sanchez ranks in the QB ratings, and then compare that to the number of teams in the league.

If you were presented with two options:

    1) Build a team with $100 million dollar salary cap with the best players you can afford and play against other teams with $120 million cap

    or

    2) Build a team with a $120 million dollar salary cap that was guaranteed to lose

This is the choice you face with bringing back Sanchez. Better to play against other teams with what is effectively a lower cap and try to win with guys who aren't dog shit then bring back Sanchez and condemn the season before it starts.

Cut him. We're not competing for the Super Bowl next season with him on the roster so there's no point in keeping him. 20 million less to spend gets us a better draft pick in 2014. Seems like a win win to me.
