As someone who could care less about Notre Dame one way or the other: I don't think Mante Te'o is going to be worth the draft pick used on him. I just don't see him having longevity and a big time NFL career. Personally, I'd like to trade down if possible. We need to start making up for how few draft picks we have had under Tannenbaum.
Should be a hell of a matchup between him and Clowney. He'll really prove a lot to me if he slows him down.
Agreed. Wouldn't be too upset with either depending on how FA goes, but I personally think it's much easier to find a solid/capable o-lineman in free agency or in later rounds of the draft than finding an elite pass-rusher. It seems that all the guys that have broken out as stud pass-rushers in recent years were all first round picks.
Trade down. Get a couple of decent picks. Get a pass-rusher and an OL. Take a RB in the 2nd. Start to fix the depth and the lack of playmakers.
Oh I totally agree, I'd much rather have Jones or Werner over Warmack or Matthews. Although, that spinal stenosis does scares me.
Nobody slows down Clowney, he's the best player in College Footbal and it isn't even close. I'm 100% certain Clowney will be the #1 pick in 2014.
I realize that as well, but as I said, if he does in fact slow down Clowney or at least manage him, it'll give me a lot of confidence in him. Clowneys name on the other hand should be written in sharpie as the #1 pick in 2014, he's as elite as a prospect can get (as you know).
If you could draft the rights to Clowney this year at #9 but he wouldn't be able to play in the NFL next season, would you do it? I'd definitely have to strongly consider that.
Wasn't there something going around saying that Jarvis Jones could have a short career because of a back issue or something?
It's a fantasy, but absolutely. Clowney is a once in a generation player, if he stays healthy there is no stopping him.
Clowney is amazing, and is going to be a stud prospect. I wouldn't mind if McElroy starts all of next season and potentially give us a #1 draft pick. Clowney will be that good.
