^Arians would be an amazing pick. However I find it hard to believe he wants anything to do with this dysfunctional franchise. He'll take his time and wait for a better situation.
This. I wouldnt wish this douchebag upon your team even though I hate the jets... Would be nice if the irish beat em next week
that makes sense and im sure he got a lot of offers, but i look at it this way. all these guys in the nfl are competitive and as a coach of any kind its your dream to be a head coach and make them competitive. if he gets offered a job from the jets i bet he looks at it more like "if i turn this franchise around, ill look like the savior" instead of "this franchise is a joke". thats just me tho
Fuck Cam Cameron. He got fired because he didnt know how to use one of the best offensive weapons in the game. Imagine what he would do with some of the worst offensive weapons in the game...
Nooooo... as a UNLV fan I'm hoping he is our next coach. The guy lives in Vegas so I can hold out hope that we could land him once we fire Bobby Hauck next year.
Saban wouldn't be my no. 1 choice for HC if Rex leaves. My no. 1 choice would be David Shaw HC at Stanford.
He would be high on my list... But he just signed an extension because Stanford probably fears this, especially with the success Harbaugh is having.
The Jets have to be rebuilt. They were built to make a run in 08 and 09 and didn't get it done. There is no magic bullit it's going to take time and descipline.
If Rex is dismissed or leaves for whatever reason, this team needs an offensive mind running the show. We've had defensive minded coaches ever since the mid '90s.. no wonder we've fielded some poor offenses. Also IMO, preferably a coach who can get the most out of his talent. That's what scares me about alot of these college coaches (Saban, Chip Kelly, Etc.) - are they successful just because they've been able to recruit excellent players? I wouldn't worry too much about their feelings as it pertains to the Jets personnel - ie. do they want to change to the 4/3? Maybe they would struggle with the current roster... Do they want to pass the ball a lot? Well we aren't built for that... ETC ETC You have to think about the long term. I want a coach that has a vision and it doesn't matter to me if right away the Jets aren't a good fit for that vision, he can build it in time. Some Names I'll throw out: My first call would be to Sean Payton. It's unlikely but who knows what he's thinking right now and if Woody tosses him enough $$ maybe he'd like a fresh start. Plus he has ties to NY. Arians is a good name to mention, as is Clements. What about Jay Gruden, John's brother. He's done a great job with a young QB in Cincinnati - he's got a bright offensive mind and good bloodlines.
I don't think Rex goes anywhere but if he does and the new regime wants to go with a lesser name offensive guy Jay Gruden, Mike McCoy of Denver & Greg Roman of San Fran would all be at the top of the list.
I kind of agree, although I think the Jets could get lucky with the right OC hire and get back in contention for the playoffs pretty quickly. The rebuild scenario makes it really important that whoever is making the decisions makes good calls on the prime to post-prime guys. Most of them have some real trade value at the moment and could greatly accelerate the rebuild process. The problem is that many of them are painful to trade on the cap and while a 2-14 year next year might be the best thing to ever happen to the post-merger franchise it might also be just the first in a string of lousy years.
Gruden would be an unmitigated disaster. If you bring in Gruden, it's going to take two years for a QB to learn the verbiage and nuance of his passing game.
No. As long as you return Edwards,Holmes,Kerley,Cumberland...secure the line, and get an OC that understands the modern NFL. The defense has been playing great, without Revis...Revis back....? Norv is the move to make. Weiss, just mentioned on Francessa...if Weiss is available, I'd take him over Turner.
I agree with this comment, but you avatar is killing me. I'd rather look at Kotites mug! At least your kind enough not to use his wife's ugly picture.
And who's going to throw to that average receiving core? And where are we getting the money to pay Revis the biggest contract a defensive player has ever seen? The problems are lie much deeper than getting a new OC and some players back healthy.
