You mean the reasonable objective reality of rooting for an injury to a player on your OWN TEAM?! You might wanna save the coins for your long overdue psychotic evaluation. Just remember..the trauma blanket is your friend
http://thejetsblog.com/nyjets/report-tannenbaum-expected-to-be-relieved-on-monday/ Report: Tannenbaum Expected to be “Relieved” on Monday December 27th, 2012 4:10 pm Lisa Zimmerman of CBS RapidReports has been told by sources that Mike Tannenbaum is expected to be “relieved” as general manager on Monday, a day after the Jets play the Buffalo Bills to close out their disappointing season. Let the countdown begin folks! Sunday will be the last day of the Jets‘ 2012 season. It also will likely be the last day that Mike Tannenbaum will be the team’s general manager. As first reported on Sunday, according to a league source, Tannenbaum will be relieved of his duties as team owner Woody Johnson searches for a replacement. From the fan perspective, the past two seasons have brought a lot of heartache and headaches and a lot of it has had to do with the roster assembly which falls directly on the shoulders of Tannenbaum. Far too often we have seen his capologist tendencies get in the way and it seems Woody Johnson wants to start fresh as soon as possible.
Junc.. Here's the problem with your argument. If Woody were to stick with the status Quo for three more years and The Jets finished at .500 and below through those years to 2015, your arguments about Tannenbaum/Rex/Sanchez will STILL hold true You will still be able to say they had the most playoff wins in Jets history.. that they went to back-to-back AFC champs.. the best 2 year combo in NYJ history.. ETC ETC Are you still going to be making those arguments in 2015 after 5 straight losing seasons??? OF COURSE NOT. Your arguments say more about our team's pathetic history than it does about the Jets in the here and now. At what point do you think they should be held accountable? It's crazy for Jets fans to want change after two seasons without a winning season, but it's not crazy to look in the past to prop these guys up? Even IF we take away what's happening this season and what happened last year - Are you encouraged by the direction this team is headed?? The future looks bright to you? Is it really that crazy to you that most fans don't really want to lower the bar enough to accept this level of success? It's not like we are demanding SBs here, we're requesting change after 2 non-winning, declining seasons..
Those with Tanny/Sanchez man-love don't let a little thing called objective reality get in the way of what they believe. Ask them to come up with a scenario - ANY scenario - that would prove to them that Sanchez /Tanny is terrible and they are incapable of doing so, because such a scenario does not exist. Anyone who still supports Tanny and Sanchez at this point is able to rationalize any contingency into their twisted reality where Tanny is doing a great job and Sanchez is the next Joe Namath who is just being held back by everyone else.
Only a moron fires a successful GM/HC after 1 losing season. Any team that does this invariably sucks over the long term and never improves. The teams that succeed stick together through thick and thin.
While I generally agree with this, the Mike T / Terry Bradway braintrust has been around since 2002, even though the roles got reversed when Mangini took over. They've been through a lot and produced a mixed bag of results, some GREAT successes, and many more disappointments. They're by no means the worst the NFL has to offer but they're certainly not close to the best either. Very middle of the pack. Sparano is a guy who is genuinely going 1 and done. Mike T / Bradway not so much.
I lost all confidence in this guy when he failed to address basically any needs of the team this past off season. Also, how badly can a team historically draft? Geez
Tanny must fly out of the blow hole. Get Parcells to help secure a new GM. Let the new GM decide Rex's fate. And oh yeah, keep Woody the hell out of everything after he gets Parcells.
Most talented......what?!??! If you're young, i can forgive that statement. But the early 80s and late 90s were far more talented than this team was.
09/10 Had better O-line & Secondary than both of those other eras. Perhaps I can buy the 80's argument but not the late 90's.
Other than media speculation, for the life of me I just don't understand the hatred for Woody. If anything I think he has the pulse of the fans TOO much sometimes. The lack of education of this fan base is eye opening & frankly sad.
Junc wants to keep Tannenbaum too? The same guy who says that Sanchez has lack of talent around him? Anyone else seeing the irony here?
Woody cares about two things, making the newspapers, and selling PSL's. That is it. If you look at the more successful franchises in the league, most of the owners are hardly visible at all. Those of the Jerry Jones, Woody Johnson, etc. mode rarely move towards the ultimate goal. The meddling type owners, other than the late, great, George just don't do it.
The Post had an argument for bringing in Parcells to handle just the GM hunt if there is to be one. I have no problem with that, or Bill being the GM.
