Yeah, getting the GM / OC this off-season then get the QB in 2014. It's the legit way, no cheating around it, as of now we're not a good football team and I don't see us being good next year. That guy might be in the 2014 draft.

But I'm starting to think this isn't where the Jets are willing to go not with the SB in Metlife Stadium. Woody Johnson is panicking, something tells me he puts all his cards on the table - I don't trust Woody to make the right decision. More than likely we have another QB battle with a veteran QB coming in with those awful QBs we currently have on the roster. A new GM, and an OC (Norv Turner) and depth / credibility on offense, Jets might make one more run for it. If they fail, more than likely that's when the blowup happens in it's entirety

it all hinges on what he does with the gm.

if he actually gets some dipshit to say sure to his personnel director idea we are fucked. if he brings in a guy with some balls and some know how it will be a very different looking team next year.

rumor Jets looking for short term fix...

    Bill Parcells or Bill Polian

So what happens after they leave? What Mike Tannebaum resumes his old role in screwing over the team?

Woody wants a quick fix. Especially when the Super Bowl is in MetLife.

Good, hopefully we keep Mike as GM. That is what is best for the long term success of the franchise.

  8. Incompetent is a strong word...and sorry..I wholeheartedly disagree. He's made some bad decisions since the lockout but he also built one of the more talented teams in Jet history.

    WOW

I believe this is the first time I have agreed with you:up:

But I think its the best for the rest of the AFCE that the Jets keep your GM entire coaching staff and Sanchez.

Dont forget those 3 got you to back to back AFCC games:up:

Keeping Tebow around would help with some good reading on Mondays also.

You mean long term failure right? Because he's done an excellent job of heading in that direction.

The problem now is if Tannenbaum is kept, will he feel like he has to have a good year next year to save his job? You don't want a GM thinking like that and potentially mortgaging the future.

yep, most playoff wins in team history despite only being GM for 7 seasons is a complete failure. You guys may want to go on this carousel again but I don't, good organizations have stability. We had 2 bad years after 2 great yeras, it happens. Should Pitt clean house b/c they missed the playoffs for the 2nd time in 4 years? shoudl the Giants for missing the 3rd time in 4 years? Those franchises don't allow whiny fans to dictate what they do and that's why they are never down for long.

The playoffs are a cool thing but is it about making the playoffs or winning championships ? For me it is about winning titles,,,,
Getting to 2 AFCC games was great but we are also 2 time losers under Tanny and company .

The difference between winning organizations and us seems like we are just happy to be there when others look at it as failure

At the same token, I don't think "well these guys weren't good for a long time and then they figured it out" is enough of a reason to keep a guy on board if he's not the right guy for the job.

For every Steelers & Giants examples I can point out teams like Seattle & Green Bay who started having more success after they changed regimes.

When Seattle had their success in the 00s it was w/ Holmgren being in charge for a decade.

Green Bay had their success in the 90s w/ Holmgren there for almost a decade w/ ron Wolf, they moved on from Sherman b/c they didn't have any postseason success w/ him and they've have had McCarthy there since 2006 and didn't give up on him after missing the playoffs 2 of his first 3 years including a 6-10 year in 2008. Through 4 years he had 2 postseason apps and 1 postseason win, through 4 years rex has 2 and 4 postseason wins.

There are times to change right away, you can see guys who cannot coach or GM in this league but Rex and Tannenbaum have proven they can win big.

Because the old GM would still have access to the boss and could undermine the new GM at any time over any disagreement they may have. A new regime means exactly that. A complete turnover without holdovers for the most part.

The last time this was tried we wound up with Rex as the HC and Schotty, the man he beat out for the job relegated to OC. I seriously doubt either man had complete trust in the other.

This time around, Woody would be a fool to keep Tannenbaum around in any capacity just like Dolan wasn't crazy enough to insist on Thomas being associated with the Knicks in any way public or otherwise (although he did attempt that very thing once.)

The new GM needs to bring in his own people who are on board with his vision for the franchise. If I were Woody, I'd also consider a new team President as well as the present one hasn't exactly lit the place up. BTW, who IS the present team President and what exactly is his claim to fame?

One who holds this view really needs to take a hard look at themselves in the mirror. We now have a statistically significantly sized poll on this very issue in which 96% of poll respondents feel that Tannenbaum should be fired.

This suggests that the 2 sigma outliers are either 1) internet trolls who actually follow other NFL teams and hate the JETS and get their jollies by taking extremist views incognito on internet message boards, OR 2) have a distorted worldview of reality similar to that exhibited by extremists in who believe that alien abductions, Big Foot and flying unicorns.

So as a general rule, concerned and genuine Jet fans should put on "ignore" folks who's view or critical going-forward topics are that of such an extreme minority.

Not Mike Tannebaum. He needs to go. You want us to win don't you junc? We need someone in here that preaches depth and builds the football team the correct way, not someone who trades all their picks for veterans. Tannebaum also reaches far too easily. Giving Holmes and Wayne Hunter those contracts were a bad idea.

Junc, why do you keep bringing up Pittsburgh when we are as far away as a organization from Pittsburgh as can be? Why even bring up the Giants? Both of those franchises have a long history of successes that even predate the birth of the NY Titans/Jets. They have a successful, proven system that WORKS FOR THEM. That doesn't mean it will work for us as one size does not fit all and every franchise is different.

The Jets still have to find their system of success before we can even build on it. Now if another decade of stable mediocrity is what you want, then yeah, by all means lets keep doing the same thing over and over again.

The real problem why this team has had an issue as to who is driving the train is the Owner. He has the cash, but not the know how, to run a successful NFL franchise. He keeps taking stabs in the dark and although this stretch of 4 years has been the most successful, its all relative as its still mediocre compared to the more successful franchises in football. Combine that with the record since 2010 and you can see the downward trend IF you want to.

I'm willing to give Sanchez another shot with Norv if he wins out the competition with a veteran QB. I don't think Polian is the answer though. I would prefer a young, hotshot GM with a vision and goal in mind. Tannebaum must exit and his stench along with Bradway should be no-where near this team. Polian, I think he's old and I think he lived off Manning during his last tenure.
