How about signing pole dancers for the flight crew? That'd be some major publicity and probably no chance it would effect the product on the field in a negative way.
Someone who thinks this is a bad idea, please actually state WHY this is a bad idea. Explain to me how signing this guy, if he turns out to kick better than Folk and punt better than Malone, would be a negative, a waste of time, or make the Jets more of a circus? Do you think they are wasting precious time looking at this guy? Shit, it's not like the entire staff is stopping to watch him. They've got kicking coaches to watch him while guys in the front office move on and look at the other positions. THIS IN NO WAY IS A BAD THING. I don't think I can break it down into any simpler terms.
This is a non-football distraction by the Jets. That's all it is. There's no point at all in trying out a Norwegian trick-kicker in a season that has run it's course when the kicking isn't even a problem.
Since this season is over, it's not possible to start looking too early at upgrading various positions. But yea, the kicking is a problem when you are only making 3/4 of your field goals.
I swear some people just need something to bitch about in order to be happy. So because we need help in other areas that means we shouldn't be looking for ANY help at all anywhere? Newsflash, there aren't too many franchise running backs and quarterbacks just waiting around in week 17. If this was any other team, and I don't even mean a team like the Pats, I mean literally any other team no matter how bad or good, you guys would be stroking off their front office for leaving no stone unturned and constantly looking to better the team.
this is the only reasonable argument against this. if you think it's just a publicity stunt (have the jets actually made a big deal out of it?) and the jets have no intention of considering this guy to be on the team in some capacity. but if this was legit, and i don't see why it wouldn't be, i think it's great. shows creativity and willingness to try new things. who'dathunkit? a guy off youtube getting a tryout with a pro sport team.
