This was one of the truly exhilarating "this shit never happens to US moments"

Driving up to the game the radio crew guys were telling us to ignore Patriots/Dolphins. The Patriots were just a fluke Super Bowl winner at that point, not yet a dynasty...and Ricky Williams was running all over them all day. The Fish had steady double digit leads on NE all day. The other game that we could have go our way to get in as a wild card was Atlanta/Cleveland, and Atlanta led Cleveland 16-10 going into the 4th that day, but then collapsed just as the Patriots began their comeback

It was surreal how the old meadowlands was just library quiet as both games seemed like a lost cause, but erupted when NE won in OT

The Jets didn't exactly blow Green Bay away as soon as Vinatieri made the kick...few remember this game was still only 14-10 Jets at the half. But once Chad marched us down the field to start the 3rd and Curtis punched it in, Green Bay pretty much quit at 21-10

This Jets team had immense talent. Pennington was young and healthy, we had a solid receiving core of Coles/Chrebet with an up and coming Santana Moss. Martin/Jordan was what we WISH Greene/Powell could be (though Herm never quite gave Lamont the amount of carries he deserved) Mawai, Jumbo Elliot, Fabini, Lewis/Jones at LB...the underrated Ray Mickens a young Shaun Ellis/Abraham combo. Jason Ferguson clogging up the middle, Richie Anderson catching everything out of the backfield

god damn this team had a lot of talent

It's a shame that the Jets never made it to the Super Bowl between 1998 and 2004. The talent was there.

i had such high hopes for chad. When he hurt his hand in preseason vs the giants,it was like a baloon slowly deflating, and he was never the same again. After that he barely ever did that sick play fake, and his confidence never again matched 02. I agree, the talent was there, too, all around.

Remember watching these games in the middle of the night from Israel. One of the most exhilarating nights of my life, I was 13 at the the time and it all seemed like magic. The following week was also special, shame Chad never quite became what we all hoped he would be. I imagine we will be saying the same things 10 years from now about our current quarterback and his playoff triumphs.

That game was great, combine that with the massacre of the colts the week later.

Damn shame chad had to get injured before the 03 season.

Greatest home game I have ever been to, we've discussed this game a million times on here and that's still not enough. I know the surly, angry fans will tell us we didn't win the SB but it was an amazing day and one of the last games I got to attend w/ my father so that day is really special to me.

Watching it on tv, I remember still to this day the crowd going crazy after Miami lost in overtime and that game was for the division title.

The stadium was truly electric that day,,,,,,,the fg kick went thru the uprights as we were on the escalator going in,,,,people were listening on transistor radios on the escalators,,,,the place went nuts and then they showed it on the large screen inside the stadium,,you could feel the energy !

  8. One of the only days the football gods appeared to be on our side.

Was at this game. The air came out of that stadium so damn fast it was alsmost surreal.

Still the best game I was ever at. Its a wonderful feeling when 76,000 people are wearing a smile from whistle to whistle.

What I would give for the current jets team to execute this play as well as the 2002 team

I was at that game in Foxboro. By the time we walked out to the car the Jets-Packers game was essentially over, lol...

Those couple of weeks were Paul Hacketts finest moments in NY. In retrospect I sort of understand why the offense wasn't as wide open as we would like. Pennington had a very week arm and him lobbing it 30+ yards downfield would only lead to turnovers and concussions for our receivers.

After the Colts triumph we went out to Oakland and actually were competitive in that game for a little bit. It was tied at the half.

I was at that game. Going into the stadium we were glum because the early games did not go our way and it looked like we were out. We left as division champions. An awesome day.

    I remember that day well...

I watched the morning game at home which was the Phins/Pats and I had about a 15 minute drive to get to the bar. When I left home the Pats were down 10, when I arived at the bar Vinitieri kicked the winning FG and the bar which was packed with about 100 Jet fans went apeshit... it was a great day, even some old school GG posters Vegas_Karl and LV_Coach were there at Skinny Dugan's that day. The crew has all gone away and Dugan's has closed but one of the greatest memories of my life as a Jet fan.

Sadly I bet against the Jets that day in the Caesar's Palace football pool and I went 15-1... it cost me 1st place for the week and a few thousand dollars. 2nd prize wasn't bad which was a a 200 dollar seafood dinner.

I was there for that game. After the Pats won nobody left their feet in stadium and the jets literally took over the game.
