I'm really not trying to be a dick but you realize all of that is in public right? And what I posted had to do with him being in private, as in like hanging out with buddies, etc. I was just passing that along btw. I don't care either way. I don't think cursing/drinking has anything to do with whether you are a good Christian or not.
That is a very naive viewpoint. In this age of a 24/7 news cycle, it is imperative to get out in front of the media cycle. Because a few idiots believed that President Obama was not born in the USA and/or a secret Muslim, look at all the BS he had to go through. You cannot simply stick your head in the sand when you are a public figure and your reputation affects everything you are trying to accomplish.
Perhaps because the truth matters, and some in the media took the opportunity to twist something into him being "as phony as a 3 dollar bill", and "a loser, and a phony". Are you really going to justify saying these things because he possibly didn't want to be used in the Wildcat? In a meaningless game, running a Wildcat offense, that hasn't worked all season. This now merits him being a phony human being? (Not to mention Ryan and Tebow indicate he never quit or refused to do anything) The personal attacks are clearly a way for them to tear Tebow down. It speaks far more about them than it does him, not to mention the haters who eat this vile garbage up, and regurgitate it ad nauseum.
I'm sorry, but this organization did nothing to Tebow. He got exactly what he was promised. The Jets emphasized, from the day they traded for him until the present, that Tebow was not the starting QB and that he was being brought in to run special packages. The Jets repeatedly said that Sanchez was the starter, that there was no QB competition and that Tebow would not be the starting QB. The Jets never viewed Tebow as a traditional QB and when the decision was made to replace Sanchez, they went with the QB who could run the same offense (as abysmal as it is) that Sanchez ran. It was the media that kept the QB competition myth alive and it was the media that kept calling for Tebow to play (because it makes a good story even though it doesn't make a good football team or indicate that Tebow is an NFL QB). Let's face it, the Broncos were incredibly lucky last season with regard to about 4 or 5 of Tebow's 7 wins. Elway knew this and so did the Jets. The Jets were not willing to run a special offense for Tebow like Denver did last season. I never once heard any Jets coach of front office person say they would. If Tebow came here thinking he would compete with Sanchez for the starting job, those thoughts were his own and that is his problem for deciding to come here instead of Jacksonville. I agree that the Jets could have used Tebow more effectively this season and I don't think Sparano really knew how to maximize his abilities. But that puts Tebow on the same footing as someone like McNight, who I also think was underutilized on plays from scrimmage. Coples could make the same claim because he was not given the opportunity to be an every down player. What it comes down to is that the Jets came to the conclusion at some point in pre season that Tebow was not a starting NFL QB. Rightly or wrongly, that was the prerogative of the coaching staff. Tebow can now take his act and his groupies elsewhere next year and prove everyone wrong. I don't think he will.
If Tebow were so perfect as he wants his image to portray then their never would have been anyone questioning his image. He's not perfect and he didn't want to run the wildcat once he was passed over for QB. But of course the tebots are going to blame someone else, Rex in this case, for his faults. What a fucking shocker. I wish Rex would really speak his mind when everyone blasts him with questions as to why he passed over Tebow and tell everyone that he looks like complete shit in practice so they couldn't even begin to fathom him being the starting QB. Tebow BLOWS.
I can get what you're saying. I disagree, but I can follow your logic, at least. I don't quite get the "groupie" comment. As long as you realize that you are also a "Jets Groupie", it makes sense.
The nerve of that asshole Tebow to not be perfect. Who does he think he is to walk around not being perfect like the rest of us?
Once again, your post is just SO stupid and lacking in thought that I'm wondering if you are trolling. Do I really have to explain to you why a president who is seeking election from a country full of idiots that eat up every stupid news story is different than Tim Tebow? Those people DO matter directly to the president's job. They vote! I mean it is almost like you picked the example that was the most different from Tim Tebow. Good god... The truth does matter. But the truth is the truth and the people in the league who make decisions have more access to the real truth than reading an article on it. Do you really think that GMs pick up the paper to find out about a player rather than picking up the damn phone and calling up people who know the real truth?
Do I have to remind you that it was a private conversation between two persons: Rex and Tim. How the f can you get the the real truth by talking to other people? Those 'other people' fed the press wrong information right after the private conversation. What more do you want from them?
This illustrates the problem. here's one possible scenario: Rex: Tim, I am naming McElroy as the starter. I know that has to upset you, but you'll still be running the WC. Tim (Frustrated): You bet I'm pissed, I didn't come here to run the ball straight into the line 4 times per game. I came here to be the backup QB and step in when Mark failed. I just want a shot at playing QB. In that statement, did Tebow demand that the coaches not use him at WC ? No. Did he say that he wouldn't run it ? No. Could Rex have narrowly construed the statement to mean that Tim didn't want to run the WC ? Yeah, IF he didn't look at the statement in context with the overall exchange. But, you go ahead and believe that Tebow quit and told Rex that he definitely didn't want to run any more WC. I mean, it's not like a valid logical argument will change your mind.
You do realize that the rigors of a rough and tumble NFL football game is probably as good a place as any for someone to let down their guard and curse when they get tackled, hurt, etc. - if they did that sort of thing? Somehow I doubt that Tebow was thinking "I better not curse on the field today because someone might have hired a lip reader to make sure I'm clean as a whistle and don't just pretend to be". Hmmmm?
You are confusing yourself and everyone around you with your own logic. Just because the public does not "vote" to elect football players into a job does not mean that public perception does not have an impact on their employment. And to be even more simplistic and to the point... I hope you realize that other teams, who may or may not hire Tim Tebow, are also part of the general public. They also watch news and read articles. Just saying... because I just want to make sure you know that they do not live in a vacuum separate from the rest of the population. It also affects the image he has with potential future teammates. This story has far reaching impacts than you seem to think.
I admire your game, but you are wasting your time - utterly - in trying to explain this to LTJF. He doesn't care about the truth or logical answers to Tebow-related questions. He has his opinion and he will never deviate from it, no matter what.
Oh, I know. It's why I'd never have a personal/private conversation with him on the subject. BUT, this is a public message board where others can read the exchanges. As such, it's not his mind that I'm trying to reach, rather, I'm after those who are objective, open minded and rational
Second this. Read this stupid statement: This is the most ridiculous thing I have read for a while. If Tebow is perfect => Not(people question his image) Logically this statement equals to People question his image => Tebow is not perfect I don't know if Tebow is perfect or not. But I do know this is pure stupidity.
You are acting as if you are in some sort of argument with me. You aren't. I posted something I had read. You posted something in response that was irrelevant to my post. I'm not going to get in a discussion of whether or not Tebow curses because frankly, I don't care, and I have said so already. Nice spin job buddy but the bottom line is you posted THE worst comparison. They don't put it up to a vote of a nation full of idiots as to whether or not Tim makes a team. And like I have said numerous times already but you aren't reading obviously, if you think GMs/coaches/those in charge on teams would rather read a story than call up Rex Ryan/Tebow/Tannenbaum then you are mistaken.
It was not a bad comparison just because you stated that two to three times. Repeating it does not bolster your argument. Not my fault if you don't understand. You are mixing up the argument I made with a detail you picked out. But you have a weak argument, anyways. Millions of fans "vote" with their wallets and purses. If Tebow isn't marketable, he doesn't do Tivo commercials. He doesn't have a Nike endorsement. He doesn't get hired by the Jets to be a publicity stunt. You are struggling heavily with basic concepts. Each time you refer to me as "stupid", "dumb", or "idiotic" it highlights the level of frustration you are experiencing due to lack of making a coherent point.
This line of thinking elevates GM's as if they are not people whom have prejudices, preconceived notions, and would not be swayed by media. I concede that they would have more experience weeding out fact from fiction, in a business plagued by unnamed sources, and anonymous quotes. That does not mean no GM would take this to be truth, and in turn diminish a decision makers opinion of him. I agree in that both sides are dug in, and will believe what they want, but what about those on the fence? This could certainly tip the scale, if they believed it was true. My point being it does make sense for him to speak out about this.
