If you were to do over the 2012 draft, would you pick Quinton Coples?

In a minute. This guy has a huge upside, next year will be even bigger for him.

Coples and Jones have virtually the same stats while Jones plays for a team that is almost always playing with the lead.

Coples has been good for us. I biggest complaint is that he sees so little time. Drafting him as a DE has worked out. I was worried pre draft because Rex ran him through LB drills, but we are using him in the right way.

The sky is the limit for this defense with Coples and Wilkerson on the line moving forward. I can only hope we add to that group this year with a stud OLB.

agree the icing on the cake will be some speedy OLB's. seems every year we have a need for this position to be upgraded and every year thomas and pace do just enough to convince the jets not to draft this position. of course their contracts may have a lot to do with that but its about time the jets invest in the OLB position. we all know the intent was there last year but were beat by the hawks. no excuse - gotta have a plan B and C and move in.

with the recent solid picks of ellis, wilk, and coples - there is NO reason not to upgrade the LB position high in the next 2 drafts.

I wasn't a fan of the pick but his play as of late has been quite good. I wanted DeCastro but had we drafted Decastro last year it's unlikely we would have drafted Warmack this year who is better then DeCastro.

Do you think we'll be getting Warmack? Where is he projected to be picked?

Hopefully in the 10-15 range. IMO (which isn't much) we will draft too low to get Jarvis Jones or Te'o and OL is an absolute must. It can not be ignored any longer. If it was up to me I'd spend 2 of the first 3 picks on OL.

I know nothing about this guy, but guards aren't usually picked in the first 15 picks; this guy must be special. Either way, I agree with you about our OL. The only other possibility that may be worth it is a top OLB, something that's eluded us for so long. But we'll see.

Look at it this way, DeCastro was the best Guard prospect of the last decade and Warmack is expected to be better then him. Throwing him into the mix with Mangold and Brick makes the left side of the OL elite and leaps and bounds better then anything we've had. If we can add a RT then we slide Slausen who has been servicable to the right side and that should make our OL much much better.

As far as OLB, we can draft good ones later in the draft as Stanford has a stud who is probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick. If we could grab Jones out of Georgia with our 1st pick that would be unreal but I think he is a top 10 pick which will not be something we have a shot at.

I would absolutely love something like Warmack, Fluker, Bell/Jamison/Taylor/Lacy as our first 3 picks. Build up that OL and running game and then in 2013 you try your best to get your franchise QB now that he has an OL infront of him and a run game behind him.

Screw the defense, I would not mind at all if we drafted offense the entire draft.

In that case we would need to get linebackers in FA, but I'm fine with that if we did.

I would improve the offense through free agency. Only guard I'd pick in the draft is Warmack.

Yeah, who knows, maybe we resign Pace to a one year deal just to make do... In this scenario, Brandon Jenkins in the 4th would be awesome. That being said, I would be completely fine if we only drafted offense. It needs to become better- no more excuses.

Yeah he's just a beast. So powerful and just moves people off the ball. I would love Warmack in the 1st... maybe trade back a few picks if we lose this week and pick up an extra 3rd.

You stick him on that left side and you leave him there for 10 years. We need starters and I have no doubt that he would be able to come in and not only start, but play at a high level.

Warmack needs to pull down his shirt. I don't enjoy seeing 350 pound black men half naked. Every time I watch him, I see him dominate. Maybe its because defensive lineman don't want anything to do with a half naked lineman.

The Jets need LOTS of players. They should trade some good players to get a lot of picks. They are overloaded at corner, so it's not unrealistic that they'll trade Revis. Of course, if they still have a lousy GM situation, and it looks like they might, it won't matter how many picks they have if they pick poorly and/or hire lousy coaches.

Our base defense is the 34. The only position I can see him play in the base defense is DE. You point out he's not very good against the run. I disagree; I just think he lacks the bulk to play the run at the 34 DE. This is why Devito plays ahead of him in the early downs. 34 DEs get doubled a lot on run plays, that's why they you tend to see the wide bodies or guys with superior strength playing that position. Guys that would be 4-3 DTs. If you play him at DE in a 4 man front, he plays the run just fine. That's why, I personally, would not have drafted him. I don't see where he fits in our base defense unless we plan to change to the 4-3 or expect him to get bigger and stronger. Playing him at OLB is a pipe dream.

...That's exactly why Jones or Whitney would have been my pick. I felt a 3 man front of Devito/Ellis, Po'uha/Ellis and Wilkerson was solid. I think upgrading OLB was more imperative. Right now our best pass rushers are Coples and Wilkerson. This means unless he is in a position to play every down, we really are not maximizing our ability to put pressure on the QB every snap.
