Report: Jets firing of OC Sparano "imminent"

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by JohnnyThaJet, Dec 24, 2012.

  1. Offenive philosophy has been an issue for a long long time. It likely goes back to Bradway's hiring. We've seen for over 10 years now conservative offensive gameplans in big spots. Playing not to lose.

This team needs a complete firesale on offense. It's time to INFLICT. Stop playing scared.

He inherited a mess and didn't do much to help it.

I still don't understand why he would consistently take out the starting QB (McElroy or Sanchez) after they made good throws to run the wildcat...

He was put into a crap position. He should have never taken the job to begin with, but what can you do.

I'm fine with this. He has been less than ideal obviously. Him and Tanny will be the first heads to roll.

He started the preseason with Wayne Hunter at RT. Nuff said.

Because the organization was dictating it. Sanchez said it last week, Tebow was "scheduled" for the third drive. Same way ducasse was scheduled for every third drive. The problem on offense is bigger than sparano / gugs.

Agreed, at the very least we need a new OC who is just as mediocre as Sparano without the former Phins HC baggage.

    I doubt Norv comes here...

However, they should bring in the guy who should have been the OC this year in Hue Jackson though...in fact I have a strange feeling he will be the frontrunner for the job, he and Rex go back to Baltimore days and Hue may be enticed that Rex could be a dead man walking and maybe get a shot at coaching. Sanjay Lal worked with Jackson too...

He took a pretty limited talented Raiders team to .500...that has to mean something. They did collapse in the end but the team now compared to before its night and day.

    Norv Turner?

Rex might not even be the head coach with the Jets looking to hire a new GM who deserves the opportunity to hire his own guy.

The Jets are looking to hire a new GM.

I feel the same way about Sparano that I felt about Schottenheimer: most of the offense's problems were out of his hands, due to awful personnel. But, then again, he didn't do anything to prove that he deserved to keep the job, so I'm not lamenting his firing.

Hopefully Cavanaugh gets shitcanned as well.

This offense needs an OC who has experience building an offense. We need a seasoned vet to come in and take the reigns who has a proven track record of success, particularly with the QB position. Norv Turner is a perfect fit. If Andy Reid doesn't get a HC job (which he likely will), I'd do everything possible to bring him in as well.

There is no chance in hell Cavanaugh survives the sweeping firings that are coming. He's as good as gone.

I don't even think he is a scapegoat. I think he just sucks and people know it.

I think he is the one to be sacrificed. Rex is staying. Mark is staying. I believe Tanny will be moved into a different position. They can say we let him go because the offense was bad.
