And here is even great news for those that wouldnt mind a few more days off after Christmas...again...still 5 days out but no longer long term so Im biting. Very late Tuesday night early Wednesday morning the storm will enter from sw to ne and should start as snow for all. Models still want to change areas close to NYC and south to rain at some point...but Im not totally sure about that because each model run shows colder solutions..that part will be ironed out. SOOO....storm kicks in to major gear all day Wednesday and into Wednesday night before tapering off Thursday morning. So in a perfect world...Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday possible off from work? Maybe. Models snow anywhere from 6-18 inches depending on the area and the model. Many things to iron out..so in a recap: Small storm Christmas Eve/early Christmas day...2-4/3-6 inches. YES..WHITE CHRISTMAS Major storm on the 26th and 27th. Possible major storm 1st and 2nd January.
Enjoy... don't know where in India you are heading but my magic 8 ball says the chance of snow is ..... unlikely.
Jay keep the updates coming,,,,,I will move the snow blower loser to the front of my garage today:up: I might actually start. It up and let it run for a few minutes
Cman great minds think alike  with any luck both of ours start up with no problem today and when the big one arrives .
Cman...where again in PA are you? Because I think the bullseye for the 26th 27th storm is more towards Central PA now. Very frustrating with these models...first showed a storm heading into Chicago..then a noreaster..then Albany...then a noreaster...and a noreaster for several days..and then today back to an inland storm which is not good for NJ or NYC metro. Still time for change..and yes..someone will get two feet of snow out of this thing...but it now looks like Central PA on west..and a big rain storm for us. Again...things can change but if the Euro model at 1am says the same thing tonite? Its over for us CBG. Christmas eve snow still looks on but cut the amounts in half...1-3" of snow...but it will snow.
Jay ,,," well shut the garage door " that sux ! Keep us posted,,,,I hope that the track changed again after your last post but the tv people are saying more wet than white on Xmas. Ugh ! Let me know what to expect if anything in rockland county. Ps does not sound great as of now Cman but one day or another we will be cranking up those. Snowblowers
Jay, I'm roughly 100mi west of Philly. 30mi south of Harrisburg. Weatherman gave us the bad news (good for sno haters). 2" or less south of the PA TPKE, 2-4" North towards State College and points north and west. No reason to use the big boy yet but I'm still hopeful I'll get to use it at some point this winter.
100 west of philly? Dont buy it yet...you could get crushed with a 30 mile adjustment east on the eye of this storm. Let me tell you something..someone is going to get 18-24 on this and if its not you...it will only be another 100 miles west of you. So friggin close on this storm. Just checking new model runs now.
One thing to keep in mind..although it will be a very light storm on Monday night/christmas eve..the models are showing a start of snow and then a mix of snow sleet and FREEZING RAIN...and all of the models are showing this freezing rain mix changeover...so be careful driving around at night. Although light, some of the worst driving I have ever had is the light misty freezing rain storms...be careful guys and girls..and jon.
Quick update on the latest models Christmas Eve: Light storm that will be a snow..sleet..freezing rain...light..but be careful. Starts around 7-10 pm..ends around 5am Wednesday: Big question mark but looks like a quick dump of early snow west of nyc and then changes to rain for most..perhaps 2-4 and then switch over. Those west of PA is a tough call but 100-150 miles away from NJ border could be crushed. New storm popped up and this could be a dozzy. Saturday Sunday...would lean towards all snow but again..tough call. Some people get over a foot. New years day storm still on maps...again...big storm. So..1 small storm on Christmas Eve..and then 3 large storms...Wednesday...Saturday....New Years day or day after.
Hey CMAN....get the snow blower ready...I believe you have a shot at that Wednesday storm..and if the European model shows more east tonite at 1am..then this could really change things for everybody WEST of 287 or north of 80 where it crosses over 287.
Here is a great map...animate and all. Hit the animate button on the left and watch 3 storms. First one is Christmas Eve...second this Wednesday and then right at the end of the roll..you will see a third one ready to come through next weekend. Such a close call and you can see how large that second one is..so is the third. White Christmas...yes...but just a bit. http://collaboration.cmc.ec.gc.ca/cmc/cmdn/pcpn_type/pcpn_type_gem_reg.html
Jay,,,,,,,,,some of us ( me ) look forward to the updates  How much snow does Xmas eve give north of 287 / rockland ? Dusting or more and does it change to rain ? Suppose to do some traveling the weekend also so await the updates be well all
Heading up that way it should not change to rain..now can it mix with freezing rain? Yeah..thats a concern...nothing more than 2-3 for anybody but still...it could be a tough travel for some. Be careful and leave yourself some time..my guess is by 10pm christmas eve it will be a bit annoying driving around..horrible? no..unless the freezing rain takes over.
Nice! Strange, but these storms don't seem to be reforming off the coast like they used to not that long ago. Any reason why?
