That Steelers game. How in the world was the ruled a fumble and stupid Big Ben and the Steelers for throwing to end the game instead of running the ball and punting it away to us.
You know what, strip Flacco of Rice, Smith, Boldin and see how he fares... because thats exactly what the Jets did to Mark.
Im a Jets fan, but I hope he succeeds elsewhere. Hes not succeeding here, not with this front office.
I don't understand this argument? How do you know this? As someone else mentioned as a ROOKIE and 2nd YEAR QB he successfully helped the team get to two AFCC games. The team around him has progressively gotten worse; he has had no (0) consistency at the positions around him. The talent around him this year was insulting to US the fans. As for experience he may be a 4th year NFL QB, but experience wise, beyond high school - he is a rookie QB. The Jets and the fanbase should have been alerted to the amount of patience that was going to be needed to sculpt Mark into the franchise QB. Certainly what they did with him was not the recipe for undeniable success. The fact that they wagered a 5th round draft pick to select a QB with ONE year of experience beyond HS and treat him as they did is telling. Additionally, I wish fans would realize that Kerley at WR and Greene at RB as #1's, the state of the OL, is obnoxious - absolutely obnoxious. Who is going to right this ship?
We can also debate the officiating...But since you haven't yet answered the question I'm going to assume your answer to be "No, Mark did not win us either of those games with his arm when not supported by a top D, run game and the officiating."
And ya all act like Qb success = team success. Perfect example....Rivers. Hes lost everything like Mark, thats why he turning it over alot to. He lost L.T, Sproles, Jackson, etc.
How do I know this? Because I watch football and understand what I'm looking at. Irrespective of his surrounding talent, he makes horrible reads which lead to picks, and pump fakes directly to his target not running a double move. It's really not as complicated as you are making it out to be. Sanchez may one day turn out to be an average NFL QB somewhere else. Currently, he is among the worst QB's in the league. The amount of patience? 4 years is not enough to be an average QB and not regress specifically in areas in which he controls, like reads, time of release and his own pump fakes and overthrows? How long should we give him? 6 years? 8 years? 10 years? Do we need to clone Jerry Rice so Sanchez can be average?
The team around him got worse, thats why we arent going anywhere. Give him the 09 squad and I bet its a playoff team, Mark hasnt gotten worse, the team has,
Let me correct this for you: Sanchez is one of the worst QB's in the league with THE worst offensive talent in the league.
In today's NFL QB success can be linked to team success... yes...seriously? Rivers isn't a perfect example. Rivers has sucked the last 2 years and so has his team?
Ok, so Sanchez is among the worst QBs in the league. He makes horrible reads which lead to many of his turnovers. His receivers do not make his reads or guide his passes. The offensive cast needs to be upgraded and that includes the QB.
easy old el paso... mcelroy caused a few of those sacks by himself. he would start to get outside the pocket which was intact and a de would peel off and sack him. or he would step up when he didnt need to and he would step into the pressure. so the oline played poorly but the 1st career start qb didnt help them much. BUT at least mcelroy was moving around and trying to make plays instead of just heaving it up or falling down or hitting one of his receivers in the back of the head before he turns around because of fear.
This isnt NFL offense, the recievers are all shut down, the QB is under pressure all the time. WTF is the Qb supposed to do? take sacks like Mcelroy and lose, or try to make plays and lose?
Oh. Well in 2009, we could have made and won in the playoffs with most QBs. In 2010, maybe only 7-10 other QBs could have made and won in the playoffs for us. We needed Sanchez to bail us out a few times in 2010 form the defense slipping or just a bad game overall. Not most QBs could have gotten us to championship game or 11-5 in 2010. So that's my answer. And in both championship losses, I can't point at Mark as the reason we lost them or even one of the main reasons we lost them. Unfortunately the defense comes first both those times. Injuries another one for the IND game.
If he wasn't throwing the ball, you would be saying he needs to pass the ball. If he throws int's, you say he should take the sack. If he takes the sack you say he should get rid of the ball. If he gets rid of the ball he lowers his completion %. If he lowers his completion % he isn't accurate. No one is open, our RB's rarely work, and no one is blocking. What do you really expect?
holy crap old el paso you just wont stop with this sanchez stuff will you? you are like a tebot maybe you could be a chezbot. mark sanchez was not a top tier qb those first 2 years. he was below average. his third year they decided that they would put a little more on the now 3rd year qb and he failed, MISERABLY. he is damaged goods, he is scared and he is not a functional qb anymore. please realize and understand that.
