Is the players aren't playing for Rex anymore. The O-Line mailed it in completely, I mean from the top down this team just quit today. Look how the Chargers got up for Norv and the Jets laid down for Rex. 11 sacks are you kidding me? That's a joke... I like Rex but honestly he may need to go, after losing the locker room two years in a row and now his players quitting on him, I'm not sure how he stays on.
you are saying this after a meaningless game loss? really? there is nothing bad about this loss. it helps our draft position.... 11 sacks is crap but im not going to bug out over rex losing the team if i havent already done so, at this point.
Although we have nothing to play for, how this team responds during this time does reflect on Rex. These are professional players and as such, should show pride over these last two games. Today's play I think was a result of an emotional letdown stemming from all the drama over the last month. I don't think the Jets came to play 60mins today. Did the offense mail it in? Perhaps and if so, this should be all the justification needed to fire Tony Sparano immediately after the season ends. The defense I think has had it with all the dysfunction and perhaps Westhoff is already on the beach somewhere. Overall, this game and next week's game should give Mt. Woody all the fuel he needs to erupt should that be required to get this team's attention.
Last year was a red flag, this year is an indictment, Rex is in over his head...Look how the QB's have been handled, a big f'in joke & you could see this coming a mile away...
Im usually not one for tanking... But, when you're statistically eliminated from the playoffs and there's really only one player in the first round that makes sense for us, I dont think there is a worst part.
this 1000000%. At this point, we have nothing to gain from winning and a lot to gain from losing IMO.
Maybe there's a compromise. When a team gets eliminated from the playoffs reward your entire practice squad and 3rd string players for the last game or two. Sit your sorry ass starters on the pine and let them watch. Still play to win, but figure you'll probably lose anyway and get a better draft pic, plus reward your practice squad and backups on national TV. Handle it like teams that have locked up the #1 seed. Sit your starters and reward your fringe players who work just as hard all year but rarely see the field.
You guys crack me up. I love how a loss automatically equates to 'this team gave up,' 'they are a bunch of quitters,' 'Rex has lost the team.' The o-line allowed 11 sacks cause no WR could get open down the field and instead of throwing into triple coverage a la Sanchez, GMac thought it would be more prudent to hold onto the ball. The Chargers were the better team today. Plain and simple.
I agree with this. But GMac is young and dumb. Let him wake up tomorrow morning covered with bruises and see how quick he is to take one for the team next week!
Moores ass now has MclRoy's face print in it along with Sanchez's,It's gonna end up looking like Mt.Rushmore soon
The Jets didn't quit on the coach this week, they just aren't a good team. Sometimes there's no narrative behind that; we just don't have the talent.
Didn't I just read an article about how all of the players love Rex? As someone else said, just because they lost doesn't mean they quit. We just aren't that good. We are at our 3rd string QB, we are missing our top 2 receivers and our top TE. These are legitimate excuses for how poorly our offense is playing.
The worst part of this week is that I have lost all confidence in the Jets as an organization. This whole season only shows that management has no idea what they're doing, and that ownership doesn't even seem to take itself seriously. The net result is that I am now unwilling to continue making an emotional investment in a team that runs a "franchise" QB into the ground and signs another one with evidently no intention of playing him. I mean, this is the same management that went into this year planning to start Wayne Hunter... who can honestly say this team is serious about winning? After 25 years of being a Jets fan, I think I'm done. I have no favorite NFL team anymore. These guys are worthless losers running a circus sideshow, not an organization intent on winning championships. With Ryan likely to get another year at HC, and Sanchez unlikely to have any value at all as trade bait, I should have plenty to laugh at now.
Don't give up now. Every organization rises and falls. We're just falling right now. Once we rise, it will be euphoric.
I don't know man, I think everyone is missing the fact that SD has a pretty good run defense and stacked the line against a rookie QB starting his first game and throwing the ball to mostly meatballs. He also held the ball too long in a lot of instances. Any time a defense can key on factors like that, they are just going to pin their ears back and rush, rush, rush.
