Rex Ryan has made this team exciting again, good or bad, it has happened. We have seen the good and bad with Rex as HC and I would take it any year compared to many other God awful years.

I truly believe that Rex Ryan will be a great HC and he is the man for the job, I think he will get things figured out and this season will ultimately be a wake up call for this organization. Rex Ryan has proven that he can get us on a deep playoff run even with an average offense, but our offense has been far from average this year. Who could question that?

I would be absolutely shocked if Rex Ryan was to be fired after this year, it would be a huge mistake. Huge.

^Agreed. Terrible mistake. I didn't see the Mangini firing coming so I'm pretty nervous Woody will can him.

I agree with this. What would be very helpful is if someone took the talent evaluation powers away from him. I just don't trust his judgement. The loyalty to Sanchez aside, when you look at guys like Maybin (ten sacks this year!) and John Conner, I see Rex's optimism and loyalty perhaps interfering with his ability to truly see these guys as they are. Every personnel dept is going to miss on some guys and clearly the NFL draft is at least in some part a crapshoot, but Rex - with Tanny by his side, or leading the evaluating and making most of the decisions - did a terrible job of putting this roster, especially on O, together.

RR has a winning record with Mark fucking Sanchez as his QB. Give him an even AVERAGE QB to compliment that defense and see what happens.

YES! Give the guy a competent, proven offensive coordinator and a competent NFL QB and we'll be a hard team to beat!

Rex seems like he has his favorite players. But that's every coach. With Sanchez gone, I think Rex can be more focused on the game rather than the QB circus. I support him.

up until the arizona game i could almost agree with you. after the zona game to watch him shit the bed like he did is just not acceptable. especially the position he put himself in with not having a backup qb in jacksonville. and not pulling hte trigger on putting even tebow in to keep a playoff run alive.

he rode him right into the ground, and it wouldnt necessarily surprise me if rex paid the price for that.

    Rex is the man.

He definitely should stay without a question. If that means Tanny will also stay, I am still OK.

I honestly don't think he's a good head coach. Good defensive coach sure, but not a good head coach. Outside of defense he has no clue what he's doing. I also don't put all the blame on Tannenbaum with regards to the lack of talent on this team. I think him, and Rex worked in concert. I actually think Rex probably dictated to Mike what he wanted this team to look like. He wanted Tony Sparano look how that turned out. He's stubborn, and delusional. This team has turned into a complete laughingstock. Wow that sounded kind of harsh, but I'm just so down on him.

I dont know if I want him fired... but I want Tanny on the streets, and if that means Rex gets the axed too then so be it. We need a good NFL offense and I question if Rex will ever have that as HC.

He's a great defensive mind, although his defenses have let us down in big moments... and I would like to keep him running the defense. If he could come back as DC (which Ik wont happen) I would really like that. If we could have an actual innovative OC that would have the backing from Rex to implement his system that would be great as well. Rex needs to realize all of the draft picks/cap room can not go towards the defense. He has to change his MO and realize that in order to compete we need an above average offense and a franchise QB.

His job depends on it as a HC, so its in his best interest.

This team needs stability at the head coaching position, we can't just fire our head coach every three or four years and expect success. The players like playing for Rex and our defense has been solid every year although this year a bit off but respectable.

Like someone has already said we need a QB who at least isn't the worst in the NFL for starters. No coach could win with the way Sanchez has played.

Let's see what Vick gives the Jets next year under Rex and go from there.

Rex has done a hell of a job with the defense and brings us our best winning % of any coach we've had next to Parcells. He's not the problem. I think we need better offensive coaching staff because they continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. QB coach has to go. Line coach, probably should go. OC should be somebody more in tune with play calling on offense. When you don't run it once in a 1st and 5 scenerio when your RB is averaging 5 a carry, I don't know what to tell you.

28 regular season wins in 09, 10, 11 (same as Coughlin, the media darling).
    4 road playoff wins.
Kept his team together this season despite terrible losses.

All with average to putrid QB play.

i don't think many coaches could do that with this team.

the only valid criticism i'm hearing is holding onto Sanchez too long.....i agree with that, but you have to admit that was a terrible situation for a head coach. Backup options sucked, and pulling the plug on Sanchez means no QB for next year and a huge cap hit to boot.

This team needs a new QB, not a new HC.

ok this says they are both under contract through 2014, i dont know if woody will eat 2 years of contract from both his coach and gm. now if this were the end of 2013 and rex would be going into his last season i think that a move would have more chance of being made as you really never want a guy you plan on going forward with going into the last year of a deal.

Keep him! And I don't see why Rex would have to go if Tanny is canned. Who are the miracle making GM candidates that would turn down one of the most attractive positions in football just because they would have to work together with Rex?

He deserves to stay. We all know what Rex wants his offense to be, so go out and get the personel. Add a couple OLBers and depth the o line, retain Landry, Keller and Edwards and figure out what to do at QB and we can compete. Rex is a good coach.

With a team predicated on the defensive side of the ball and an organization that doesnt know how to develop a QB, a new QB may mean nothing.

As trent Dilfer said 'if you want to write a book about how to NOT raise a young QB, you can just label it "Jets"'... That does fall on the HC, and it does fall on the GM. If Tanny is here, trying to develop a new QB is worthless. If Tanny goes its likely Rex goes too.

    Play out his contract.

Rex deserves blame for the Sanchez pick and TS as OC.

    I hate Rex.
He demands no accountability from his players and has no feel for the pulse of his team.

I thought he should have been fired after last seasons admission that he had no idea what was going on in his locker room.

A head coach knows every facet of his team. Rex is nothing but a defensive coordinator.
