I just don't get it. Yeah were 6-8. Our offense is bad, yeah, BUT were 6-8. With a chance to be 8-8 by the end of the season. This team is one player from another win or two, and a couple players from 3 or more wins. I was reading ESPNs "expert" picks for this weeks matchup between the Jets and Chargers and there saying how bad the Chargers are, but that were worse. Their saying that the Chargers are bad, but have the players. Yeah they got the players, and we don't, but were still doing better? It's not only the Chargers, it seems like every week these so called "experts" try to get into people heads how bad this team is, but we haven't had a losing season in 4 years. I don't know were they got the idea that were supposed to be winning 13+ games a season to be bashing the Jets for being in the middle of the pack. I don't really care what the media says, but these "experts " really need to find something new to talk about.
After watching the defense take their first lead of the game last week and promptly let the 23rd ranked offense go 64 yards in 7 plays for the winning score you can't understand why the media would consider the Jets a bad team?
Um because this team sucked. The Defense was a solid defense, but not "great." The offense SUCKED and special teams fucked us on occasions. WE HAD A BAD SEASON!
The special teams were worse than last year's group and probably the worst special teams unit I can recall on the Jets.
The Jets are a mediocre to slightly above mediocre team. Bad teams don't have their offense anywhere near a game winning score after four turnovers.
How about SF and Seattle? Both games, our defense showed up, and (at least against Seattle) Mark Sanchez couldn't complete 10 points.
The Seahawks held Dallas to 7 points with Tony Romo playing against them. They held Green Bay to 12 points with Aaron Rodgers playing against them. They held Cam Newton and the Panthers to 12 points. Yeah Sanchez sucked against them. They beat a bunch of good QB's by shutting down the opposing offense also. SF has lost 3 games all year. What makes you think the Jets should have been the 4th loss given what we saw? They did after all rush for an obscene number of yards against the Jets.
Like I said, we are a couple players away from a multiple win season. Bad teams aren't. Were not good, but were not as bad as people say. And whoever is complaining about the defense, jump off the closest bridge. Yeah our run D is ass, and they let up that scoring drive in the Titans game, how about every other drive? ONE player different in that game, and we would of been talking playoff shot right now. You can't expect a defense to give you shutouts.
I wasn't expecting us to score 28 or something. 14 probably would have been enough against Seattle, to be honest. What you're forgetting is that red zone interception in which Sanchez had all day to get the ball out of his hands. By the time he finished pump faking, Keller was covered, and you know the rest. Make even a field goal, and the complexion of that game changes. As for SF, we had them 7-0 throughout the half and into most of the third quarter, even with the fumbles. As memory recalls, Holmes selfish fumble and the blocked punt really let the flood gates flow. Had our offense been able to get a field goal at halftime, things would have been different.
Live by the sword..... die by the sword. Woody likes the attention, now they're receiving the other side of the sabre.
Because we are a bad team. If it makes you feel better there are a few teams worse than us, some about as bad. When it comes offense I'd say we could be the worst, maybe bottom three if you want to quibble about it.
We're a bad team because that's what we've shown so far in 2012. Perception is everything and right now, the perception of the New York Jets is a franchise that is overrated, dysfunctional and no longer a desireable destination for UFA's that want a shot at the VLT. The media isn't simply looking at the product on the field although if they did, there's enough evidence there to make the "bad team" claim viable. Look at the bigger picture. The Jets's Franchise has become a laughingstock. At least the Chiefs get pity. We only get ridicule because of all the shit talking that came to town with "The Circus". People, we brought all of this negative perception on ourselves by buying into the big talk and never coming thru in the big moment.
Don't the guys have to say that now? I mean they were at training camp just about every day hyping Tebow. Now that he hasn't done jack they have to say the Jets are horrible. There're teams worse than the Jets but none ESPN cares about as much. In reality the Jets have a D good enough to win games but a bad offense and horrible QB. Had you had an average NFL QB they probably be 8-6 or better.
The pass defense is ranked second in the league, the defense is ranked 8th overall and will end up finishing 6th or even 5th. But the offense overshadows all of those good things and Sanchez alone makes us look like a joke
The run defense is ranked 29th and had had to work hard to get there. Run defense is fundamental to good winning football. If you don't have it you're not a particularly good defense no matter what the numbers say. And the argument that the offense was so bad that teams could keep the ball on the ground when they otherwise might have been forced to pass doesn't mean a lot given that the Jets are 24th in yards per attempt. They're 28th in rushing TD's allowed. The run defense just hasn't been good all season and ultimately that was going to be the cap on the Jets no matter how well Sanchez played. Unless he suddenly became a great QB.
Our run Defense isn't that bad. They give up a ton of homerun gains and thats about it. We need some speed in our LBs and that will end more or less. Our pass D is good so teams run a lot. They end up breaking a few long ones. Our D has room to improve but its not the problem with this team by any means. We have a bottom 3 bad offense. Make it average and we are a playoff team.
