I know it's really early, but who is on everyone's radar for the 2014 draft? the class is looking pretty damn good. here's my top 10 01: Jadeveon Clowney (DE, South Carolina) 02: Johnny Manziel (QB, Texas A&M) 03: Anthony Barr (OLB, UCLA) 04: Austin Seferian-Jenkins (TE, Washington) 05: Sammy Watkins (WR, Clemson) 06: Teddy Bridgewater (QB, Louisville) 07: Cyrus Kouandijo (OT, Alabama) 08: Bennie Logan (DT, LSU) 09: Marqise Lee (WR, USC) 10: Stephon Tuitt (DE, Notre Dame) if we end up getting a top 10 pick in 2014, the guy I would pick is Seferian-Jenkins. this kid is the next big thing at the tight end position.
Well, the clear #1 pick is Clowney. He is the best defensive talent in a while. If for some reason he is on the board when we pick, you can't pass on him. Otherwise, I like Bridgewater a lot and Barr.
Clowney, Barr, Bridgewater, Manziel, Lee, Sefarian Jenkins... A ton of top end talent, if there was a year to get a top 5 pick (outside of Luck and RGIII), this would be it.
If we get a top 10 pick, we better be hoping for our franchise QB, assuming we dont get him this year. The team goes as the QB goes.
Every future draft looks better a couple of years out. The injuries, the unexpectedly mediocre senior seasons, the combine accurately pinning down important things like overblown height and speed measurements. All of these things have yet to happen. Who was the undisputed leader for #1 pick in 2013 at this time last year? Matt Barkley. Who else was almost certain to be in the top 5? Barkevious Mingo. Time is a great leveler. That said, ff there's a great QB out there and the Jets have the top pick that's the only way to go. The Rams totally screwed themselves by passing up RGIII.
Rams are going to wish they'd drafted RG III for a decade is my guess. He could get hurt. Bradford could take that next step. Those are both longshots at this point. Keeping Bradford with a top 2 QB available was like drafting Ken O'Brien with Dan Marino still on the board. QB is the most important position in the NFL. When history puts two of them in your path and the new rookie wage scale makes the second one affordable you jump on it and let the details sort themselves out. We know how this would have worked out. RGIII beats out Bradford in camp and the Rams have Bradford as trade bait moving forward and they have RGIII creating the second coming of the greatest show on turf.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington. Bryn Renner, QB North Carolina (remember, you heard it here, first).
Gronk is who he is because Brady is throwing him the ball... Who would Sefarian-Jenkins have throwing him the ball if we drafted him?
I'm still trying to get thru this 2012 debacle, and then 2013's draft and off season. Screw 2014 for now.
