I enjoyed last week's Braylon prediction thread, so I thought it might be fun to see what everyone is expecting this week from McElroy. His first start in the NFL. My thoughts are that he will just be asked not to turn the ball over. I predict: 12 of 20 for 85 yards, 1 TD, 1 int.
this will be like a pre-season type of game, where both teams going to do lots of experimenting so Jets probably wouldn't mind to see him air it out. McElroy seems pretty accurate and I think he is going to be pretty pysched up and the crowd is likely to support him....so expect something like 17/28 for 150 yards, 2 tds, 1 int. Camera will then show Mark sulking on the bench.
McElroy has two games to make an impression, if he throws for 85 yards he may as well start getting his resume together and giving thought to what he's going to do post football. 13 for 25 - 118 yards 1 td 2 int Come on gentlemen there is a reason this guy was drafted in the 7th round, every scouting reports states the guy just does not have the toolset to be an NFL QB. "But Brady was drafted blah blah blah" an exception doesn't make the rule... I hope he doesn't "air it out" because his two attempts vs AZ were pathetic.
Play calling will be a big factor in this one but, really, both Rex and Sparano will benefit from McElroy having an impressive stat list. Tanny too for that matter. If he throws for 85 yards they all look like idiots, even in a win. If he throws for 200 then they don't look like Einsteins but at least they can hang their hat on the "we found our replacement guy, we know he can do what Mark couldn't...don't fire us" hook. Even if they lose they can still come out and say how great McElroy played and that he will get a chance to win the starting position at camp, which makes it look like they have somewhat of a clue. They were calling a lot of run plays because they were still in the hunt. Now it's more about saving their jobs then anything. I could be wrong but I think they are going to call a fair share of passing plays both to see what McElroy can do and hoping that he runs up big numbers and makes them look good. Of course if they call a lot of passing plays that could basically be the end for all of them but it's possible it is anyway, so may as well go with the gamble and hope it pays off.
Kid throws 4 TD's BOOM. Superstar status In the off season get this mofo on a muscle building program.
I figured that Sunday's gameplan is going to be run based than it is passing. And if it were to be passing, I'm seeing a lot of play action.
