1. You'd have to put Santonio Holmes to the CUT YOUR LOSSES dept. I'm not touching that mediocre-producing malcontent fuck with 10 foot pole even if I were a GM of 0-16 Lions. 2. How about shipping both Revis and Cro at the same time? (There goes another 20M of salary cap.) Ok. Just kidding. Jets do not need both of them here. If Cro re-does his contract at some 6-7M/yr, Jets should send Revis, as he will never play under 10M. (It's a bad business - you do not pay 10M to a CB unless he can cover two receivers at once. As good as Revis is, he can't do THAT.) 3. I don't like letting Slauson and Howard walk. They should stay with the Jets. They know they are fringe players, and Jets know they are fringe players, with good quality. They should be retained if the price is right. They will provide valuable depth. 4. Same with Keller and Greene. At 4M or under, he stays. Greene? He's a backup and a short yardage runner. No more than 500k or so. (If he doesn't like that, he should walk and find a suitor that does not exist.)
Firing Schottenheimer (and, consequently, Sparano) and releasing Nacho would be a catastrophic mistake according to you-know-who.

It's not, but we need to replace everyone who we release and we don't have the cap space to do that in one year. That said, any hope of us being a "win now" team is out the window with our Qb situation so maybe we should just throw everything away and rebuild. It's a shame, though, b/c our defense is really excellent IMO even without a true pass rusher.
Rex needs to go, he looks and sounds clueless. He has no idea how a pro offense works, and you can't have a coach like that long term and expect to be successful.
With a new OC you don't anoint anyone as a starter. McElroy has throw 7 passes...5 completions traveled no more than 5 yards in the air and his two deep passes were a mess. Also, he never got hit. This is his audition to see if he will be in the mix to compete in an open QB competition next season.
Cut Norv Turner a blank check. When this season ends, he'll have people breaking down his door to shove OC jobs @ him.
Revis, Cromartie, Harris & Holmes are going nowhere with their contracts. You should be able to put Sanchez in that same group but I could see them biting the bullet anyway. I hope they let Keller go. He's a decent spare part but he's not going to be worth the money he'd get. It's the same situation with Harris where his value to the Jets is overblown because we've done such a terrible job drafting impact players, so Keller gives the illusion of a draft pick that worked out. Slausson, Moore & Howard are all areas that can be upgraded. I would bring Pouha back.
2013 is the year to bring in younger players and develop them. It's time to pay up for previous years of cap management which was moderately successful. Do it in one year and be done with it. The 2014 cap number is in great shape as of now. No expensive acquisitions and see what young guys can be part of the future. The only real money I would like to spend is on Landry. The top safeties are paid no more than 5MIL a year. If they can bring back Landry with a slight raise from his current 3.5MIL per year for 3-4 seasons I think you have to consider making that deal. Guy is a player who had success in your system.
Bryan Thomas may be old and slow but he plays for the vet minimum and was our sack leader half way through the season. I think we bring him to camp and see if he has any gas left in the tank. Costs nothing to kick the tires. I think we let both Moore and Slauson walk in free agency. Moore isn't getting any younger and Slauson can be replaced with Ducasse for next season at least.
Woody needs to call the Seattle GM an make a deal to trade Sanchez for Flynn. They can't trade him now, but the first day in the season it should happen. Pete might prefer his boy back over the big offseason signing he fropped on. They both have big contracts, neither is a starter and niether wants to be with the team thier on now. They both would agree to the trade, and hopefully we wouldn't have to sweeten the deal. Let Tebow go or trade for anything you can get. Draft a mid round QB or sign a veteran at minimum for QB #3. Let Flynn and Mac fight for #1. No matter what happens we couldn't be worse than this year.
I highly doubt the team will be blown up because the NFL has been designed to reward mediocre talented teams. No need to panic when they can put the kind of product on the field for a Monday night game and have the NY market watching that crap for 3 hours. It's to risky to blow up the team when the league and the team can make money by simply being in the hunt regardless of the product that's actually on the field.
That's most certainly not true, lol, but I understand where you are going. Honestly I want to draft a franchise qb in 2014 so doing "worse than this year" might be our best hope.
