We know who his WR's are. It doesn't matter. We do not want to see Mark Sanchez play QB for the NY Jets any more. I don't know how many times people have to say this before the Sanchez lovers (apologists) get the message.
To king's point... id rather cut him now and absorb the cap hit for 2013, throw out a cast of young guys, and going into 2014 in great cap shape with a high draft pick.
Brady won a superbowl without much more then that. Anointe Smith, JR Redmond, david patten, david givens, troy brown, jermaine wiggins, ron rudtledge, patrick pass. not exactly a cast of all pros.
you cant be telling other people they know nothing about the game then continue to spew garbage for your next 100 posts. you recently blamed the jets defense for blowing a 3 point lead in a game where the offense turned it over 5 times -- with the defense holding the titans to 0 points off those turnovers. mark was good in the playoffs. but what good is that if he cant get us to the playoffs? its also a very small sample size, and he is more likely to be the guy who has sucked over 60 regular season games then the guy who was good over 6 playoff games. those games where also years ago, on a team where he didnt have to throw and defenses were more focused on us running
'Good QBs' don't make the players around them better. That's the job for a very small number of super elite QBs. Good QBs strive for a completion percentage of at least 60%. Good QBs strive for more TDs than INTs. Good QBs avoid bone head plays, like spiking the ball on 4th down or throwing into triple coverage on 1st down with the game on the line. Good QBs try to win more games than they lose. With Rex running the Defense, and Rex demanding a top O-line and a top Running game, we don't need a super elite QB. We just need a Good Q. That's all I want for Christmas. A good fn QB.
Maybe this will help you understand the position the Jets are in. Without going into his mental issues that most likely can't be recovered from in New York, I'll focus on the talent on the team. In 2010 Sanchez had a lot of talent on both sides of the ball to help him. Over the last 2 years, a lot of that talent has either left or is merely a shell of what it was and needs to be replaced. You keep claiming that if given talent around him, Sanchez can succeed. Possibly, but the problem is the Jets only have one set of draft picks and limited money to invest in Free Agents for next season. Forget restructuring and trading picks because that is exactly why the Jets find themselves in the cap strapped hell for next year. You have to look at the big picture instead of being stuck on this belief that because he played in 2 title games 2 years ago, he is worth keeping another year. The Jets are not set up for a successful season in 2013.
Sanchez sucks but he is still by far the most talented QB on our roster. We are going to take the cap hit if we cut him. The new GM and HC should be allowed to evaluate Sanchez and whoever we draft and bring in before cutting him.
He's not Tom Brady, never will be, never was supposed to be. Brady is by far the best QB of his generation and a top 5 all time QB. I'ts not fair to compare him to brady but he did outplay Brady in the 2010 div rd in Foxboro leading his team to the win. Try reading slower. I did not blame the defense for the loss, I said the D was not blameless just b/c the O sucked. The O gets their share of the blame but so does the D. The ones that know little about this game tell us how great the D was the other night and how it was ALL the fault of the O, those that know the game know better than that.
Oh so you're saying if you have Tom Brady you don't need good receivers? Thanks for that very useful piece of information. I don't see what benefit their is to cutting Sanchez? Just make him the backup next year.
assuming good health we'll have MUCH better weapons w/o signing or drafting a player which I also assume we would do. Most of this year he has had kerley as his #1, Schilens, Cumberland, Gates, Reuland. Opening day next year should be Holmes, Keller, edwards, Kerley, Hill, Cumberland. That's a pretty good group.
Would not be surprised if the Fins made a run at Keller in the offseason seeing how he fits the seam threat and it would weaken the Jets
Seems like they need to bring in a veteran QB, no? Whoever that may be ... I'd go with Moore, but their are options.
Don't understand cutting him. Too big a cap hit. Bring him back, have him compete with someone else, whether it's a veteran or another young quarterback. Hell, maybe McElroy can be in the competition if he shows something the last two weeks. Too big a cap hit to cut him, especially when we'd need to get a replacement, too.
The lack of weapons argument is such a crock. I don't care who the weapons are if you keep making the same type of unforced errors Sanchez makes. He constantly can't see open guys, is rarely on target and misses open receivers. He can't figure out the blitz or set up his own protection or even figure out where to scramble to avoid pressure. He has zero pocket awareness. Granted, there are no threats on offense but the running game seems to do OK for the most part even though the D keys on it with the lack of a passing game. It's over for the guy. Cut the cord already.
Bring him back, because there's no other choice. Cut him on June 1st unless you somehow get very lucky and get another team to take him in a Revis deal. I'd trade Revis and Sanchez for a high second from 33 to 36 without thinking about it too hard. BTW, the cap pain would be terrible in a deal like that but the cap pain of keeping them both for the year is pretty bad also and the cap pain for keeping them both through 2014 is absurd.
Brady won a Super Bowl (2001) slinging passes to Troy Brown, David Patten and Jermaine Wiggins (TE), and handing the ball off to Kevin Faulk. Sancho Year 1: 53.8 completion %, 2444 yards, 12 TD 20 INT, 10 Fumbles, 63.0 QB Rating 5 INT game vs Buffalo Red zone INT vs Colts in AFC Championship Game Sancho is what he's always been: gutter trash. Any decent QB, and the Jets would have made it to the Super Bowl in '09 and '10. The team won in spite of Sanchez, not because of him.
He can't see open guys b/c there aren't open guys. Brady is the best QB in the game and that group of WRs(as average as they were) looks like the greatest of all time compared to what mark has had most of this season. He was a big reason why we amde 2 title games, w/ most QBs we don't make it that far. He didn't have a RZ INT vs. Indy in the title game, that was in the WC game the next year where he led us on a last minute drive to WIN the game.
