    No and those cuts leave us with 2 missing stating LB and our 6th OL guy gone with an aging Moore and average Slauson. So that means this draft has to be OL/LB up high.

    The way I look at the offense, we definitely need a new QB BUT this is the hardest position to replace. It sets your franchise back missing on a QB so let's say McElroy is a placeholder or Orton or Moore or someone like that.

    Then, we must go OL. We need a RT and G. If the JEts do go forward and start Vlad over Slauson, then that can kick Slauson as our 6th OL which I fine with. I would then want a replacement for Moore or Howard to help out Mangold.

    On WR, I don't even know. I think we are stuck with what we have, I wouldn't mind resigning Bray to have Bray/Hill/Holmes/Kerley. Not world beaters, but would be better than shuffling the likes of Gilyard, Gates, Schillens out there.

    TE. I really don't know what to do here. I think we should resign Keller if possible. I think someone will overbid and we will have to let him walk. Cumberland and Reuland don't really impress me either, but this might be position we have to sacifice with QB to shore up other weak areas.

    RB. If you improve the OL, the RB will improve. I like GReene being resigned for little money and then having a 3 headed attack of McKnight, Powell, and Greene. Powell and McKnight can split carries early on in games, Greene can come in fresh to close them.

    Then CS. Sparano should be gone at this point. We need someone who can develop a QB as we will be drafting one soon. Cavanaugh also out just because he is a stay over. Rex should stay, but give leeway to the new OC like he did with Schotty. Say what you want, but understand that guy is hired to be the OC. IF it's a former HC, I think it works out.

    Defense. Well looks like Landry we can't resign. Try to keep Bell on a flyer I guess, and fill up the S position with another aging veteran. CB we are set. DL we are set. LB, we need to draft one guy, hope Davis/SApp/PS players step up.

    There are going to be a lot of holes next year but I think if we fix up the OL and LB that means in the trenches we are solid and we can hang around mediocrity that way instead of blowing up the whole team while finding the new QB

    Have to disagree with you here. SG is an effective power back, but obviously after this year it's clear that he is not a true #1... at least on a team like our's that has no legitimate passing attack. The backfield has now become an almost 50/50 split between him and Bilal, who have very similar running styles. I think we need to let Shonn walk, because of our cap situation and the fact that Bilal can do what Shonn has been doing for much cheaper. That will allow us to hopefully bring in a more explosive back via the draft, trade, etc to split duties with Bilal.

    In regard to Keller, it all comes down to $. Mark will not be back next year, so the fact that Keller has been his "safety blanket" will be irrelevant when it's time for contract negotiations. DK has never been a great blocker, and Cumberland has proven that he is a solid receiving TE. IMO we should use that $ to fix our offensive line or add another weapon on the outside.

    We should have a basic test of math skills to post on the board.
    This makes no cap sense, it leaves only 33 players on the roster and less than 5M in cap room.

    I think Vald is your starting right guard next year. I don't love the idea, but he has been seeign a decent ammount of snaps this year and is only slightly behind slauson. I think Slauson is brought back if he is willing to sign. Unless we get a RT high in the draft howard will probly be there as well. Cap friend contracts make it easier to stay status quo on the line. Add in a refocus to the running game and it plays to thier strengths.

    Garette McIntyre has a late season tryout for one of the OLB spots. Right now he is doing well. I expect him back in at least a rotational role. The other starting OLB, if rex is brought back, is most likely going to be a high draft pick.

    As for TE, I'd like to return all of our guys. If Keller strikes it rich we will most like go into the season with Cumberland and Reudland and some other so/so blocker. Cumberland has looked decent when given more time and he may be a developing weapon.

    RB, again if rex is back, he wants downhill brusiers. Green and Powell fit what he wants well, I would expect to add another mid round pick in the draft. McKnight is a special teams player at most for us.

    Landry may be the one big signing we go after, but I doubt we land him. This is why its key to use these last two games to get Bush and Allen more snaps to see what they have. If not its a pretty good safty class depth wise.

    We will have holes for sure, but if we get back to running and ball security on offense Rex's defense should still be good.

    Bye-bye to:

    Sanchez- self explanatory, complete disaster
    Bart Scott- see Chris johnson's 94 yard run and 83 yard pass to Rb in flats vs Pats
    Eric Smith- entire career fail
    Calvin Pace- what does he do?

    Sparano, cavanaugh.

    That's it.

    Get Norv, and whomever he wants for QB coach.

    You'll return, a healthy Edwards,Hill, Holmes,Keller, Kerley, Cumberland.

    You can go 21 personnel, or 11 personnel, and be as good offensively as anyone in the division.

    You just need the right play book.

    I would have went with common sense, but you win.

    Math is quantifiable.

    Quick question to the OP.

    Which QB or HC, has more playoff wins, and on the road.

    Look up building blocks, and get back to me.

    Oh, and BTW, how has Sam Bradford looked this year...? You evaluate talent in context...Sanchez is not the problem here. Coaching is.

    So Sanchez has nothing to do with us losing games this season?

    Ok lets have a test of basic math skills

    10 + 10 X 0 + 10 =

    A = 10
    B = 0
    C = 200
    D = 135
    E = 20
    F = 125
    G = 30

    It's 20 and that said....

    This smart ass reply has nothing to do with the OP you posted making no sense in regards to the cap. Your either too lazy or to dumb to figure it out though. Possibly both.

    Rex Ryan isn't going anyplace no matter who gets hired. Might be a 1 year prove yourself deal, but the team plays hard for him, the defense is solid with diminished talent, and in 4 years he is playing his first 2 games with no meaning. So 64 games - 2 had no meaning. Don't see how you can fire him.

    Sparano and Cavanaugh have to go.

    Greene I let walk and go with Powell and see who they can pick up in the draft/FA. Green only averages 3.6 YPC - no exactly had to replace. Get someone that can catch the ball, get a corner, make a move. Last season they threw the ball to a RB 130 times and completed 70%...this season 80 times completing less than 50%. Big problem when you lose all your receivers you don't use your backs more.

    Keller - only if he is cheap.

    Would try to sign Edwards to a vet minimum - Holmes, Kerley, Edwards, and Hill - Edwards can help Hill develop since they have similar skill sets.

    Bell or Landry must be back.

    Scott/Pace/Thomas - new LBs with speed are needed.

    Cro/Holmes aren't going anywhere

    Revis - hate to say it but I can see them trying to trade Revis for picks which would be sad.

    Tebow is gone - must bring in a legit veteran QB with starting caliber skills. Will be an open competition with Sanchez/McElroy if he shows something/new guy. Sanchez is a $17 mil cap hit if cut so he will either step up, battle, and resurrect his career or be the backup.

    If it were up to me this is what I would do.

    If McElroy plays well these final 2 games, I would keep him around as the starter for 2013, and bring in Hasselbeck or another solid vet that can step in and play solidly in the event McElroy regresses. If McElroy looks ho hum these last two games, I would try and bring in either Matt Moore, Michael Vick or Alex Smith.

    In Rex's offense you don't need a great QB. You just need someone that can keep the defense honest with his throws, and someone that can make plays when needed, and someone that will make good decisions and wont turn the ball over a lot.

    Sanchez is done as far as i'm concerned and is only on the roster because of his contract. It would take similar events like 2005 for Sanchez to ever take another snap in a Jets uniform.

    As for who must go

    Tanny- maybe he gets demoted as a "capologist" but his days as a gm are over.

    Shonne Greene- better as a complimentary back, the problem is Powell plays that role better.

    Jason Smith- cap casulty maybe he is brought back at a cheaper rate.

    Bart Scott- He's been solid this season, but he's regressed a ton.

    Bryan Thomas- He's old and slow

    Calvin Pace- See Bryan Thomas

    Eric Smith- He's been solid as a back up but then again he shouldn't even be on the team in the first place in '12

    Tim Tebow- Bad decision to waste a 4th round pick on this scrub QB.

    "who has to stay"

    Dustin Keller- Good tight end and should be brought back at a reasonable price

    Braylon Edwards- Looked decent out there on Monday night, this is a no brainer

    LaRon Landry- Best safety The Jets has had in a while.

    Yeremiah Bell- solid veteran and should be able to play one more year.

    Its a smart ass reply because someone was insulting my intelligence instead of just answering nicely and saying that it really doesn't make sense or offering a different solution.

    As it stands now I'll let the season play out and see what we have in some of these guys with McElroy throwing the rock. Now, he may be a 7th round, 3rd stringer backup but I noticed a palpable spark in the Arizona game when he came in. Call it what you want but guys played harder and had more spring in their game. Had he been active yesterday and brought in during the 3rd quarter there is no doubt in my mind we are still in the playoff hunt. I'm saying this because he displays, at the minimum, average NFL accuracy. Let's play these 2 games and see what we have. If we can get decent QB play then we MIGHT be able to gauge some of the other roster spots as well.

    If he can throw in the 50% - 60% completion range then maybe we see lanes open up and Green doesn't look as bad...or Powell looks even better than we thought. Not to mention the amount of pressure that is relieved from the O-line. Let's see what happens when our young receivers can catch a few balls in stride instead of having to pull houdini acts to reel them in. Guys like Kerley were constantly having to elevate to get the ball.

    Of course, this impacts the defense as well...as in an average amount of rest each game. The fact that they look this good with this much time on the field is amazing.

    I would absolutely like to see a new GM. It's clear that Ryan has all the input from the defensive side and it shows. But we need a GM that can recognize offensive talent and put it on the field. Time will tell but I'll have a better understanding of where we are at if we can get average to a modicum of above average play from the QB position.

    There were a few people, myself included, who offered detailed posts on why this would not work. If your going to ignore the decent post and focus on the negative your threads will become a playground for trolls. Just skip over them and respond to those who at least try to make a good argument.

    Keller is hurt too much. He's gotta go. And no way we can trade Revis and Cromartie... Re-sign Braylon ofcourse

    If you are talking about cutting guys in a salary cap league you should make an effort of some kind to see if the math works. I was snarky because there are half a dozen of these every week where someone completely ignores how the cap works.
