Let's not kid ourselves. Sanchez is the starter next season no matter how badly it pisses us off. Might as well give him the last two games & see if he can somehow someway pull his head out of his ass & have a career turning point. Interceptions that can be fair catched, ass fumbles, etc. & Tebow has had @ most one drive this season. McElroy came in & led the Jets to some scoring drives & then had his uniform confiscated by Rex & the staff. They want Sanchez no matter what.
I'm hearing this a lot, all over the place -- but I don't really get it. Sanchez got three years with the same coaches, same OC, same offensive system, no challenger behind him at backup, a run-oriented offense to start with, a strong defense. He got a solid 3 years to show he's a good quarterback. At some point it just comes out. Now, the Jets brought in Tebow -- but most quarterbacks who get 3 solid years and aren't developing, cause their teams to at least consider a "plan B." What were the Jets supposed to do? Stay with Brunell? Draft another quarterback in the high rounds? So they brought in another potential option at QB. By most accounts, Sanchez got the chance to look better in practice by far. Sanchez biggest problem is the tendency to make ill-advised, errant throws. And the fumble-sacks. That hasn't changed.
I agree, but it will probably be Tebow if Sanchez doesn't start. As much as I like Tebow, he is done with the Jets, might as well see what you have in McElroy. I think Tebow can win the next two games, but it won't be look like what the critics want. It won't be 300 yard passing games. It will be 150 yards passing, 50-75 yards rushing, 47-50% completion, and ugly wins. A lot of 3 and outs. If they let Tebow play, I want to see him throw at least 25-30 times. We all know he can run in the NFL, let's see if he can pass in the NFL. Fans and doubters alike deserve to see the answer once and for all. I think he can pass, but I need to see him in more than a vanilla offense. But I wouldn't care if he rode the pine and McElroy started. It makes more sense for the Jets organization to see what McElroy has at this point. It's the smarter move.
I am a big Tebow fan, but I want to see McElroy start. The coaching staff won't be able to design quality plays for Tebow in a short week. Think about that 3rd and 16 play. 5 wide out and empty backfield. The play call is let all five run vertical. WTF is that? My xbox playbook is better than that. With five one on one matchup and only one safety to beat, there are millions of ways to create separation. But... McElroy might be a no brainer to pick up Sanchez's playbook. He is the QB of next season.
Yeah, exactly. Why waste any time on Tebow if he's not going to be there next year? The fans want McElroy anyway... give them what they want.
In on 6 plays of which 3 resulted in first downs ...quite a disaster I am a fan of the "unmentionable one" and would much rather McElroy get the nod. "the unmentionable one" has been punished enough already, pairing him with Sparano for an entire game should be considered a criminal act as well as cruel and unusual punishment.
I wonder if Rex will be afraid to start someone else. Let's say McElroy starts and has two effective games where the offensive unit puts up 20 plus. Maybe the Jets win one or two? Does that put the nail in Rex's coffin for not pulling Sanchez sooner?
No nail in Rex's coffin. I don't think he anticipated Sanchez regressing THIS badly after the Arizona game. I honestly did not anticipate Sanchez regressing like this. It's really difficult to, it's beyond comprehension. Rex gets at least one more year to right the ship.
My problem with that is, what did Rex see out of Sanchez all year (and really, back to a good portion of last year) that made him think things would get better from Sanchez? He finally had enough in Arizona. Why was Sanchez suddenly going to stop turning the ball over? The season was on the line and he kept riding a lame horse. Doesn't make any sense.
Tebow drive wasn't a disaster. Wasn't anything great & wasn't terrible. It was kinda average with some first downs & a punt. Which actually makes it one of the more productive drives Jets had that game. Couple first downs & punt consistently is a huge step up when it comes to this offense.
No it's not. It was pretty obvious to everyone else that Sanchez was done. The Butt Fumble was Sanchez basically throwing in the towel.
It's amazing how people can blame Sanchez crapping the bed (repeatedly, with great gusto) on the "rhythm" thing, suggesting that sitting out a series or play is devastating his play -- but other people don't even bring "rhythm" into it in considering what it's like for Tebow to run in there cold and play quarterback. That was not a disasterous possession. Two first downs, and a throw-away that was smart. The rest was not good, but not disasterous -- it was classic Jets ground and pound. Don't make a mistake, don't turn it over, move the ball a bit. If he had a week of reps and a whole game to settle in, Tebow might be competent.
start tebow. he gets the ball with a short leash. if he isnt producing mcelroy gets the 2nd half. if tebow is producing he starts against the bills. if neither is producing direct snaps to the rb the entire bills game
