So essentially now if the Steelers beat Cinci at home next week (and we win tomorrow), the Jets control their own destiny?
We are now rooting for a Bengals win over Pitt next week, followed by a Bengals loss against Balt in week 17. Or Colts lose their last 2 games. Correct?
Ok, so assuming we win tomorrow night (huge assumption given the way the Jets have shit the bed in numerous big games this year) who do we want to win/lose next week. Obviously the more Indy loses the better, but what about the Pitt Cincy game?
Correct. But even if the Steelers beat the Bengals next week, we could still hope that the Browns beat the Steelers in Week 17. The Browns are competitive week in and week out.
Jets need to win out. Still rooting for Cincy over Pitt. If that happens, we need Balt to beat Cincy and the NYJ gets in. Or if Indy loses at KC and at home against HOU.
No. So the way I understand it (all this if we win out) is If CIN beats PIT, we need CIN to lose to BAL the following week and we are in. If PIT beats CIN, we need IND to lose out to create a 3 way tie causing a conference record tie. This knocks PITT out and we beat IND on the head to head if I read the rules correctly. Someone PLEASE correct me because I think I am wrong
No, Steelers are a fringe team for the play-offs anyway (like us) but hold a tie-breaker over the Jets. http://www.nfl.com/playoffs/playoff-picture?module=HP11_content_stream This is still going to require a fuck of a lot of luck.
