Just posted this in a different thread. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...unt-article-1.1220499?localLinksEnabled=false Landry is going to want to get paid!!
Don't see how they let him walk. He's played very well for them. Have to be careful with him though because of his injury history.
The $7-10m range is a little steep imo. Gotta spend that coin elsewhere. I'm all for keeping Revis and Cro but we'll need unheralded Safeties if that's to happen. We could always bring Bell back who's been pretty damn good even tho he's going on 35.
Landry is a difference maker. He's always flashing, and yes, he's worth what he wants if he's healthy, BUT one healthy season doesn't mean he's suddenly durable. He's still more likely than not to miss a bunch of games next year, imo. That's why $10 million is absurd. Even a short-term deal for big money will have to be laden with incentives.
I would love to see him come back and he has been good this season but not 10 milllion good. Nobody is going to give him that. If he thinks being healthy all season warrants that much he's nuts. I say 6-7 million.
I think for 6 or 7 he should come back. He's getting 3.5 on a prove it year, you gotta expect him to ask for a lot more when he does prove it.
I say let him walk, his injury prone days in Washington makes me think signing him long term will be a huge mistake, draft a safety in the draft to compete with an Eric Smith on vet min, and Antonio Allen.
Anything higher than 7 is a ton. Even 5-6, I have some worries about. I like what he brings to the table, but he's injury-prone and he's made his share of mistakes back there. Lot of risk in that deal if it's for more than a year.
Ewww fawk Eric Smith. Let that fool walk. We'll probably do some stupid sht like give the punter a huge raise and not have enough money to re-sign Landry.
Dude for the Vet Min, I would want Eric Smith back, he is good on Special teams and good depth that knows the system.
Iono man. U sure he knows the system? Or does he just suck that bad? Either way I'd rather invest in some younger player who's quicker, faster, and has a brain.
landry has been great. but the jets need to make some hard choices this offseason. do they re-load or re-build? if they decide to go to war with this same basic roster, then they need to bring back landry. the defense has been very good this year and a healthy revis next year puts it over the top. but maybe they want to go in a different direction. maybe the plan is to bring back the defense and somehow get rid of sanchez to free up money. with a great defense, and it can be, the offense just needs a qb who doesn't turnover the ball. not a huge stretch to imagine the jets going in that direction. but i can't see how they'd get rid of sanchez. what the fuck were they thinking giving him that deal...worst contract in nfl history?
Why would this guy want to give this train wrecker a discount when he can go to a real football team maybe have a real chance to win a super bowl and get paid? I have already given up on the 2013 season. This guy has been one of the only bright spots of the season he is not a real jet we will find someone mediocre to replace him
Jets need to find a way to keep & add playmakers.Get rid of some of the dead weight. Why lose Landry &keep Tebow?
I think he should get what he wants or damn near it. Think about this for a second. If he's playing at the level he is with Revis healthy and Cro playing out of his mind, our secondary could be ridiculous! We are amongst the top 5 right now with no Revis. Imagine with Revis?! We have needed a dominant safety for a long time and we hit the gold mine with this one. We can't let him walk. We need someone like him to put fear in the TE's coming across the middle
