If Wilkerson and Coples keep up their ascending level of play and generate that interior pressure Rex's schemes are going to be very difficult for teams to contend with. We have an OK shot at getting in if we can beat 3 more beatable teams. There are a few scenarios.

Then who knows? Maybe Sanchez can pull a Dilfer. The D smashing awful offenses is probably just giving false hope though.

The Jets linebackers are old and slow. That gets worse in January not better.

We have more tied up in linebackers with less production. The way Rex calls his defense you are always going to have a ton tied up in corners. All too often we are seeing a single high safety or everyone in man. You can not do this with out top corners. If you want to spen less on corners we need a new coach.

    That's a pretty broadstroke statement.
The defense has played well all year, and is playing even better lately.
Yeah the LB's are clearly not a strength, but the D as a whole has not been bad at all.

    Updated rankings:

    Total YPG: 8th - same
    Passing yards: 2rd - from 3rd
    Rushing yards: 29th - same
    PPG: 20th - from 19th

Updated offensive rankings of remaining teams on schedule:

    San Diego: 28th
    Buffalo: 20th

    (Jets are ranked 30th)

Focusing on the one positive thing the Jets have going. #2 against the pass is the best we've been since 2009. In 2009 we averaged 153.7 passing yards per game. Right now we're at 191.1.

With almost zero offense we were one fluke CJ run away from still winning. Our defense is good, just need that young OLB and we'll be cooking with fire. All we need is a mediocre offense to compliment this D. Too bad we can't even get that. Aside from linebacker, this off season will be ALL about the offense. They know it. They are all under pressure now.

Honestly, although that was a clearly blown play, it didn't even bother me that much in the end. The fact of the matter is the defense only allowed 14 points with Sanchez throwing 4 interceptions. That's a very solid performance even if it was against the Titans.

I think, like you mentioned, our D is very solid and just victimized by our terrible offense.
