Well, we should hopefully have few problems unloading Sanchez to Arizona. They have quarterbacks that can't score 3 points against prevent defenses. I'm sure they would love Sanchez; a person with SOME playoff experience.
SO with that logic, some of Sanchez's "lucky" passes in the 09/10 season which has made you fall in love with him should mean nothing because fundamentally he is a horrible QB- can not read a defense, weak arm, bad footwork, horrible pocket presence, ext. Smh
Do you see his stat lines though? he may throw picks but the guy can actually throw the ball and can lead a 80 yard drive in 2 minutes...What does Sanchez do?
Before I go with this point of yours, I must confess I have no idea how much of a factor that an absence of consequences has for Muck. And that no idea includes any attempt to make sense of what he says himself. Like he was asked in the post game presser, in light of his saying on Wednesday that he "got the message" after being benched for McElroy, what he did differently, or felt differently about his situation? He basically said nothing changed. So he "got the message", but nothing changed. Don't turn the ball over - a lost fumble, followed by taking the ball out of his hands. But of course he still gets to play, only as a hand off machine. But like you also say, this should be more on Tanny and Rex at a certain point. So let's talk about Rex. He's another one who makes no sense anymore. Rex says Sanchez should be the starter, because he "gives us the best chance to win." Sanchez starts, can't score in the first half, and loses a fumble. Was Ryan considering benching him again? Apparently not. RYan would give no indication that he was considering playing Tebow. In fact he said he thought Muck played "good". Then there's the Tebow situation. Still hurt, and hurt enough to not be used at all. Yet with McElroy not even dressed, Tebow was the backup Qb. How does that make any sense? Why if Tebow was hurt enough to not be used, was he the backup Qb when McElroy could have been suited up? And that nonsense about Bell having to be dressed. Bell? He was the same schmuck who fumbled last week. How is it good coaching to reward McElroy with not even being dressed, so that he can dress teh clown who fumbled the ball last week when a defender breathed on him???? This is bad coaching, and it makes no sense, and Ryan has no cred left. So yeah, it's a win. Against a terrible team, that was driving to tie the score. The OL dominates, the D mostly plays well, and the Jets nearly lose to an awful Jaguars team. But when it comes to motivation, to handling the players to get the most out of them, Rex seems to think his being considered a player's coach means he doesn't have to take steps that in fact a good leader has to take. He's gotten to the point i can't consider him a good coach. I just can't, and that despite the win. Beating a terrible Jags team by one score is not so great. Sickening. Just sickening.
Sanchez made that nice throw to Cumberland late in the 4th it was like a 30 yard throw, Why the fuck can't he make throws like that all the time???? what is the problem here
Can you make your best throw consistently? If you can you're Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. If you can't you're Mark Sanchez.
If we can unload him and his salary on an Arizona then fine, pull the trigger. Maybe playing closer to Cali will be good for him. But I think we are stuck with Sanchez and need to make the most of it. On the Boomer and Carton show today Esiason said the Jets would be 9-4 if they had a Brady or Manning under center given the current level of offensive talent. Whether its Sanchez or someone else, why wouldnt the Jets be throwing the majority of 2013 resources at developing offensive weapons. If Sanchez can use them, fine. Make him some semblance of his former self THEN trade him away and hand over the reins to a new QB. Forget about drafting or trading for an elite.
Exactly. Mark's problem is consistency. He CAN make all the throws... but for a myriad of reasons it only happens once in a while. Sometimes he loses his feet, sometimes he's staring the wrong WR, sometimes his pocket presence disappears, sometimes he forces the throw... there's almost always something wrong.
So if the Jets had a hall of fame QB they'd be 9-4 instead of 6-7? Well that tells us a lot, gosh Boomer thanks for enlightening us on that. What would the Jets record be if Boomer was the QB? 6-7. The Jets don't know how to do this right. They'd go into "SUPERBOWLLL!!!" mode around all the additions and then leave the fans flat again when it turned into 10-6 kicked in the first round. Yes, it makes sense to get a lot more assets on offense because the Jets blow chunks on that side of the ball right now. No, it doesn't make sense to then pressurize the environment around the process so much that the chances of failure are increased. The Jets can't do this. The entire focus of the organization should be around finding a great QB and then providing him with enough weapons to win an NFL championship or three. We've just watched the Patriots dominate the AFC East for a decade with that formula. If we're trying to do anything else we're doing it wrong at this point.
are you guys kidding me? did u watch the same game as i did? did u see any WR getting wide open or getting any sort of separation? its hard to make accurate throws when you're always throwing in coverage. stop putting every little thing on sanchez...ffs!
I HATE this argument but I will bring it up.. In 2010 we would have lost a slew of consecutive games if Mark didn't lead drives down the field for either game winning field goals or TD's. The Browns, Texans, Lions, and Colts playoff game, hell, even the Pittsburgh AFCCG comes to mind. He CAN do it. He HAS done it. I don't understand why people write that off. Does that excuse his play now? Absofuckinglutely not. I'm not saying it does. But with weapons, Mark CAN be good and successful. Was Eli good with those bad Giants teams before 07? NO. He sucked. I'm not saying that Mark will have the same story Eli had because he's awful this year. But he has nothing. No WR, No OL, No coaching, no nothing. Should we bring in a viable back up next year? Probably. Would I mind if we just kept Mark and Greg and let them battle it out? Probably not. Depends the route this team wants to go in. But i'm sick of changing QB's and having a revolving door. We never can just do something right, we can never groom a QB the proper way. It's sickening.
I don't put everything on Sanchez. I put a career 55% completion percentage after 1800+ throws on him. I put a bunch of turnovers not matched by great game-breaking plays on him. He's just not that good. Has he had enough help? Of course not but he's been bad even so.
I think the argument should go like this: was sanchez productive when he had weapons around him? yes Is he productive now? no, because he has no weapons. Next year they need to bring in a few more weapons... if he struggles then it's over. If he was failing miserably with Larry Fitzgerald and Mike Wallace that's one thing, but throwing to Clyde Gates and Chaz Schilens isn't helping him.
no, the argument for a QB should go like this: Is he dependent on having great receivers around him? Yes. Does he make receivers better because he can identify coverages before the snap and find open receivers? No. Do you need a great QB to win the in this league that is a difference maker? yes. you get rid of Sanchez. average QB's don't cut it any longer, especially when the league is geared to helping the QB be successful.
those questions maybe apply to 5 QB's in the league now. Where are we gonna get an elite QB? We r the NY Jets remember. We drafted mark. Let's stick it out for another year instead of cutting our loses and then spending another decade lookin for a guy. 1990-2008 (first 18 yrs of my life) I saw 1 afc champ game. and in the last 3 years Ive seen 2. I guess im just biased, but im gonna stick by him
Here's how I would run those arguments: Were the Jets a highly productive offense when Sanchez had weapons around him? No Are they productive now? No Would they be a highly productive offense if Sanchez had more weapons around him? Likely not. Would they be more productive in that scenario? Of course. Nothing that Mark Sanchez has shown us to date suggests that the Jets would ever reap big rewards from constructing the offense around him. It's a leap of faith to suggest that Sanchez can develop into an alite QB at this point. Given the results the last few years I'm not prepared to make that leap of faith and I don't think the Jets should be ready to do it either. If Sanchez works out that's great but expecting it to happen at this point is for true believers in some higher football power that governs the cosmos and has for some reason decided not to screw the Jets for a change.
what dictates a 'successful' nfl qb? stats or wins? granted his stats aren't pretty. But at 37-29 I think we should give him more time. NOT SAYING he will be elite. but he is owed more time.
