Or there's the alternative big picture which involves Sanchez having a devastating guaranteed contract and an upcoming draft with little to no worthwhile QB talent to build on. So the next best step is to work with what you have and make it work. The fearsome combination of Kerley, Schilens, Cumberland and company aren't really making that happen.
The Jets are going to be a legitimate threat to go 2-14 next season given the lack of talent on the offensive side of the ball, the lack of bodies on defense after all the cuts are made and the people who are going to be trying to do all the replacing with limited cap space making the ol' veteran free agent bailout a no-go.
It amazes me that there are STILL people out there supporting Sanchez. C'mon. Just watch the guy out there. He does not belong on an NFL field. He's just a bad player.
Would it be any different if Sanchez had Jerry Rice? He would still overthrow him by 10 yards, throw balls 5 yards behind him. He leads in the league by a wide margin in underthrown and overthorwn passes. It does not matter who you put in around Sanchez he will still not be able to throw the the ball close to them. Unless one can find a receiver a 100 feet tall, with 12 arms and covered in stickum Sanchez will not be able to get the ball close to his receivers. The problem is not the rest of the team it is Sanchez. He has no pocket presence, panics under any pressure, cannot read or understand defense, cannot process information swiftly, is afraid of getting hit, gives up on plays and cannot come close to completing a pass unless the receiver is completely uncovered. He is simply the worst QB to play in the game in at least 20 years. He might be a great touch football player but he cannot play tackle football. He makes the mistakes of Rex Grossman with none of the upside as Sanchez simply cannot throw the ball down the field with any accuracy.
You can't make it work if it's not there. It doesn't matter what business you're in, it is bad practice. Sometimes you got to cut your lost. And fire the ones responsible. And if we don't make the playoffs, its going to happen.
You can make a similar video with JaMarcus Russell too. Also, a video with Mark's mistake will but much longer.
Hey, Andrew Schmuck's completion pct is slightly above Mark's, yet people believe he's the secong coming. Mark just needs a realQB coach to mold him, and a real receiving corps!
Exhibit B is the butt fumble. I don't think we need it replayed here. It was hilariously traumatic enough.
This is how crazy Sanchez defenders have gotten. Reminds me of people arguing that John Starks was as good as Jordan.
Yes Sanchez is better than Russell and he has played fairly well in the past but he sucks this year. Maybe he'll get better. Maybe he wont. I think his mind has fried under the pressure. IMO he just needs to go elsewhere and the Jets should move on.
Sanchez's stat line today: 12/19 111 yards, 0 TD, 1 FUM Anyone else would be on the hot seat. Sanchez is going to be praised for his performance by Rex and Sanchez lovers. In fairness, that one throw was clutch to seal the win.
Unfortunately it's extremely costly for him to go somewhere else thanks to the front office, the same people who essentially gashed the talent on the offense and stripped Mark of the weapons he was able to succeed with. Further, looking at what is out there... Braylon Edwards IS out there... I don't see any QBs on the other hand who are going to turn this team around.
After Hill's injury, they have to get someone. I'd gladly take Edwards but we all know they'll pick up a scrub we've never heard of. As for Sanchez' contract, you're right. They only thing they could do is say fuck the cap, release or bench Sanchez, start a different QB and have Woody pay a larger cap penalty for the overage than he would have otherwise. I think at this point we're going to be over anyways so Woody is already gonna be on the hook to the NFL. Just depends on how much Woody is willing to spend.
