In totality yes the 90s were worse. But that play will stand as the most ridiculous play ever executed. It's hard not to say that is the lowpoint for a fan.
we were 1-15 in 1996 we were 3-13 in 1995 we were 6-5, had a huge lead for 1st place in late Nov in 1994, blew the game and didn't win another game. nothing will ever be lower than that stretch, Thanksgiving was awful but I'll take 10 more of those games compared to what we went through in the mid 90s.
You're right, that was out of line. However, I stand by the original premise of my not wanting TT to QB the NYJ, champ. I don't think he's the answer, I'd rather take a look at McElroy.
Unfortunately, I'd have to agree. Rex's decision to start Sanchez, proven to be the worst QB in the nfl, is a clear signal that Sanchez is the guy for the rest of the season as well as next year, no matter how badly he performs. Rex's delusional mid-week briefing in which he talked about having a few too many turnovers as being Sanchez's only problem telegraphed his "solution". Very likely the Jets will try to run the ball every single play to avoid giving Sanchez the opportunity to make too many stupid, high profile blunders. Then, if the Jets lose to the pitiful Jaguars, Rex will point to the fact that Sanchez was "efficient" and that it wasn't his fault. He will give the same tired, hollow answers in the post game presser about how he is sticking with Sanchez because he gives the team the best shot to win. I usually spend a couple thousand dollars a year on Jets tickets/concessions/gear ect. This is the first year in decades that I have not been to a Jets home game. I had tickets to the Arizona game which I got rid of when I found out Sanchez was starting. I refuse to give a single dollar more of my hard earned money to the Jets as long as they keep shoveling the disgrace called Sanchez out on the field. I am a lifelong Jet fan since the late 70's, through the "bad" years, through Rich Kotite, and more bad QB's then I can count or remember. I have never been so embarrassed to be a fan of any team, and it's not the bad play. There are always going to be players that play bad, that underachieve, and teams that lose. The fact that Rex Ryan and the Jets continue to shovel Sanchez out there to embarrass the Jets organization is the same as spitting in the face of the fans as far as I'm concerned. If the disgust of the fans and the ridicule of everyone else who follows football isn't enough to get Sanchez off the field then it's time to start hitting Woody the only place he cares about - the wallet. After a lifetime as a Jets fan, I bleed green, and cannot simply move on and become a fan of another team as others have suggested doing. However, if the Jets insist on sticking with Sanchez as QB next year, I will likely stop following football all together.
I don't get how people would give up fandom over one bad player? Is seems there are more Sanchez haters than Jets to be honest if you can stop your fandom because one guy is playing and you don't like him?
Sanchez is not the problem with the NY Jets he is a symptom of a poorly run team. We were deserate for a QB when Tannenbaum was made GM in 06. He couldn't replace Pennington even though he tried. They reached in the draft for a QB with absolutely no plan to develop him. Replacing Sanchez will not solve the systemic problem that exists with this team.
I agree. We will start out ultra conservative running a real lot. However we will not be very effective because our line will be playing uninspired knowing that the piece of shit is playing QB. Sanchez will make some bad short throws and we will have a lot of 3 and outs. Sanchez will never be pulled as we will stay close because of our D and how bad the Jags are, maybe 3-3 at half. When we finally fall behind and have to try and generate something in the 2nd half, Sanchez will throw the pick (possibly pick 6) to seal it.
That is 100% true, but benching him is the first, of many steps, that needs to take place to begin the healing process. He is an awful qb in a broken system. Cutting ties with him would make a lot of fans happy, not because it will instantly make us a much better team. But bc it would be the organization finally admitting that they made a mistake (not just with mark) and then allowing them to focuss on taking steps to correct this team as a whole.
The first step to correcting a problem is to identify and admit that you have a problem. (not Mark gives us the best chance to win).
i know were 175 pages and 3500 posts but i just wanted to remind everyone of one thing.. sanchez sucks
Quick Trigger for Sanchez? Thinking the Jets will have a quick trigger on pulling Sanchez this week. If they get down and Sanchez is sucking, they'll want to put Tebow in, so the Jags management will see an electrified crowd and possibly want to make a trade.
Considering there is no logical reason that Sanchez is starting, let alone getting another snap for the Jets, this will piss off intelligent fans even more if Rex doesn't have a quick trigger. At this point, the Jets are a laughing-stock for starting Sanchez. They become a joke of a franchise if he sucks during the first drive (likely), and Rex keeps him in there.
I highly doubt it. The reason for Tebow on the bench is so Mark doesn't have to look over his shoulder when he sucks. When Sanchez ultimately sucks it up today they will use Tebow's ribs or his ineptitude on his 3 wildcat plays as an excuse for not benching Mark.
What the heck is Rex doing? He hasn't wanted to play Tebow all season, and now that he has a good excuse not to, he deactivates McElroy? Was McElroy making Sanchez nervous?
