total clusterfuck at the talks today, players pull out a brand new offer at the last minute and the owners walk out and leave them a voicemail that it's unacceptable. Fehr walking away too
how do you fit 66 games in now? If you do, you have to play every other day for months. Torts style would hve these guys more tired than they were after last season
If we won the Cup it would still count wouldn't it? Where's Tommy he needs to give you your medication....
Steve Zipay @stevezipay RT @adater: From deep inside players: "We were ready to play again. But Don came in (Wed.) told us we could get more and to hold out" Donald Fehr Hitler
Fehr is trying to justify his job and the best way to do that is to holdout all year. In the end they are only going to get something similar to what they are being offered now so it's a waste of time for everyone not to mention the salaries the players are leaving on the table. It's unfortunate when stuff like this happens but Fehr has a reputation to live by and I think he puts himself and his reputation above what his actual job entails.
Completely wrong. This is the part of the negotiations where the players have leverage. Fehr is going to come out the big winner in all this, the owners won't let this season die. It would be business suicide and Fehr knows it
I completely disagree, the owners have already shown that they are willing to scrap an entire season (2004-05). At this point I would be shocked if there is any NHL hockey this season. The big losers are the 3rd and 4th line marginal players who are lucky to get 5 years in the league and are about to lose 20% or more of their NHL earning potential. The NHLPA and Fehr are really screwing these guys fighting the owners on issues that may affect 10% of their membership.
i'm pretty close to not giving a shit, but it was mentioned in something I read that it was a good sign only games through December were canceled, a sign the season would begin in early Jan.
Its turned into such a fuckin joke. The fans should organize a boycott for the full 2014 season. Its gonna be heard but im debating walking away completely, I do know this that I wont be spending money on merchandise or tickets this year. Fuck all these assholes
See they tricked you, they didn't cancel all December games. They cancelled through December 30th. They don't want the media to say "entire year of 2012 wiped out", and they're aiming to have a new year's eve restart
Honestly the NHL can stay away for all I care. Before the last lockout I was a NHL package buyer and a Sabers season ticket holder. Post the lockout I did not return to spending my money on hockey. I switched to the NFL package and OHL (minor leagues) for my entertainment dollar. Fast forward to last year. The first time in a long time I had bothered to watch much hockey. I actually watched every game of the cup finals and enjoyed the hell out of them. I had gone from a life long fan, to hating the NHL, and was slowly moving back again. Then the lockout. The greed reminds me why I hate the league. I can see high level hockey in my own town for 10$ a ticket and I could care less if these idiots ever get back on the ice. Good job Bettman and Fher. One less fan to fight over.
