Patriots twisted their offense towards spread option offense after Bilichick sent Josh McDaniels to meet Urban Meyer's staff in 2006. They are running their own version of spread option offense (minus the QB run of cause) since then. Also you may watch RG3 every Sunday, and see how spread option works at Washington. Not to mention Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton run some spread option plays too. There are 32 teams in NFL. Maybe no coach wants to take a chance with Tebow. Who knows? But when they only have Ryan Lindley or some other pretty awful QBs in their arsenal, why not?
Because if they are stuck with a QB roster looking like that, they're going to be looking at the list of REAL quarterbacks when they get a chance to deal with that position. Why fart around with Tebow, a guy that couldn't beat out Oroton or Sanchez in his worst season, when they can probably either draft or sign a free agent QB out there that has more credibility to Tebow. Somehow, I'm doubting the idea that there is a coach out there with a shitty QB roster, that is taking a hard look at bringing in Tebow to improve it.
No head coach, but two head coach prospects can do it. Chip kelly from the Oregon ducks and Kyle Shannahan, the OC drawing up RGIII's offense in Washington. Kyles young, but he is doing a ridiculously good job over there right now. Oh John Gruden LOVES Tebow. Not saying he would run a spread just that he likes the kid.
Anyone else want to explain to me what a team with a lousy QB roster would be looking to Tebow to improve it when there will likely be better options in the draft and free agency? apparently the word "fart" bothered the guy I was asking after some of the things people have said to me in this forum.
I don't think you crossed the line with the "fart" mention. I take issue with your opinions, and general lack of a good reason to be in this forum, but not the fart thing. To answer your question even though I don't think you really are interested in a real conversation... I think that a team that sees past the rhetoric and looks at the upside of Tim Tebow based on what he can do when unleashed will reap huge benefits. He's not as big a risk as say, the Eagles took with Vick (immediately after his prison release), the Cardinals took with Kolb, or the Seahawks took with Flynn.
I'm not saying losing would have been Tebows fault, its a team game and you win and lose as one. And I agree heavily on the fact that it wasn't a difficult pass and it was a good read by Tebow. Now I don't know you well enough to throw you in this group but there are Tebow supporters saying that Denver would not have won that game had it not been.for Tebow pretty much. And you wonder why Tebow gets scrutinized so much. I get he doesn't ask for it but when you have an ok quarterback getting attention on the level of the elites in the league then of course you're going to get scrutiny. Now you may be more reasonable than your cohort but that's just my opinion. And to answer your question, if Tebow landed that ball in Thomas' hands 50 TDs down the field of course I'd give Tebow credit. That's a damn good pass.
Considering what people say to each other in this forum, I would agree. ...and I'm in no way obligated to justify my reason for being here to you or anyone else. The reason I ignore those kinds of questions and never answer them (which you noted at least a dozen times) is because I believe it is a lame attempt to make the debate more personal. I don't really care if you like my opinion or not, but I'm just not going to take the bait on that stuff. I have about as much desire to get into an off topic personal pissing match like that over the internet as I do eating a cold raw liver. Let's just keep it on Tebow, the guy this forum was reserved for... yeah? That's all you're going to get from me on a personal level off topic. Further questions of that sort will get a similar answer ...IF I even bother to answer it at all. Best if we just keep that kind of stuff out of the conversation from here on out if you don't mind. Just because you don't like what I have to say about Tebow doesn't mean I'm not interrested in a real conversation. i would have thought counterpointing many of the arguments offered in favor of Tebow would have shown otherwise. Some might look at the upside, I'm sure EVERY front office has considered Tebow's upside. They did during the draft, and when he became available for trade (for a 4th rounder) and I'm sure that will be in consideration again when teams look to improve their QB situation. There just isn't enough when the downside is also considered, and that is the point people keep missing as to where his career is heading. Right now, his upside is being dominated and overpowered by his downside. THAT is the problem. I disagree on the risk factor too. Anyone who brings in Tebow also inherits that circus that follows him around. I truly think Elway thought it was a major headache. The jets, who seem to like that kind of controversial attention, look like they are getting sick of it already. It WILL be a factor. That, and his downside on the field might outweigh whatever upside they MIGHT think he can bring. After all, tangibly, about the only thing he brings to the table is that he's big and he can run. Too much of a distraction in the locker room. It's not all his fault, but that is the reality of his situation. I think he should really consider switching positions, but I read enough articles on his past where I can see why he might have a chip on his shoulder about being told he should be playing RB or something. Apparently has been told that since he he was in elementary school, and has set out to prove them wrong. So far, he'd been successful... that is... until the NFL. But even Napoleon had his Waterloo. The NFL might be too much to overcome.
I think that I am like 95% of Tebow fans. He made a good read/pass and DT finished off the play with even better YAC. Thing is, if ONE Tebow supporter goes crazy and says Tebow won the game by himself, then we are all crazy and believe this. FYI, in that same game, Tebow broke an NFL record for the most passes over 50 yards in a playoff game since the AFL/NFL merger. In that same game, Tebow was the first player to have four completions of 30 yards or more in one quarter of a playoff game in the modern era (since 1960) and the first in any game since Warren Moon in 1990. All I'm saying is the kid can pass and it's not all just his receiving corps getting YAC. Thanks for your reasonable and respectful response. That doesn't happen often around here.
Tim hit 4 30+yard passes that game most of them being primarily air yards. Before those 4 the steelers had given up only a single pass play of over 30 yrds the entire yr. Tim's touch passing needs alot of work, but his deep stuff is nfl level for sure.
Sorry, but you put yourself in this situation. Man up and answer the question, just like the rest of us have. The real reason you won't answer is because it will make you look like you are obsessed with someone who has no relevance to you or your team. You are on here all day posting. You're not a Jets fan, you're not a Tebow fan. You are fascinated by Tebow and can't admit it. On top of that you gave a bizarre reason for coming here which draws scrutiny. Supposedly, you are here to save the Jets fans from Tebowmania because you as a Broncos fan are "concerned" for their well-being. Do you not see why people ask you what your obsession is with Tim Tebow? You are not obligated to answer the question, but don't be surprised by the questioning.
Ask as much as you want. That's fine. Just don't come in here telling me that "I'm not interrested in a real conversation relevant to this forum" and then you only addressing the personal stuff when I DID attempt to steer this back to football. I simply have no desire to get into it with you on why I'm here. You're not a jet fan either. The only difference is I don't like Tebow as a QB and you do. I pick on him and you feel compelled to defend his honor. Really, there isn't much of a difference, but you will no doubt disagree.
Tebow is a Jet, I am a fan of his, and this is the Tebowmania forum. There is a big difference between us. My stated goal of joining this forum was not to save the Jets from Mark Sanchez by proving Tebow should start. Similarly, I am not on the Broncos forums whining and complaining about him being traded. I also do not call people "idiot", "dumbasses", or "stupid" on the internet. We are nothing alike. Not even close.
We all know your stance on Tebow already... he sucks and is not an NFL QB. Got it. Thanks for your opinion. But what is compelling you to remain here is what is interesting about you. Your football position is not anything unique.
Let me experiment with that last post you made for a sec.... We all know your stance on Tebow already... he is good and just needs as shot and will be a great NFL QB. Got it. Thanks for your opinion. But what is compelling you to remain here is what is interesting about you. Your football position is not anything unique. Yep, too easy. There isn't much of a difference between us is there aside from opinion.
No. There is a big difference. You followed Tebow to his new team, even though you are not a fan of his or the team. I followed Tebow here because I am a fan of his, and thus root for the team. I am in the designated "fan site" of Tebow in the Jets forum. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. So what is it that compels you, and others like you to come on here and constantly flame. I understand the Jets fans who come in here and talk smack about Tebow. He is on their team. But what is your excuse other than you are obviously fascinated by Tebow, and I don't mean that in any homosexual way.
Ahhh, so you liking Tebow somehow gives you moral superiority to be here. Got it. Everyone else should take a hike... Ironic though, this forum for Tebow was actually created to quarantine it from the rest of the Jets conversations. Maybe it really IS the Tebowmaniacs who are nuts.
I have been lurking here for a while and do not usually post here because the conversation is rather interesting to say the least, however I have to say I agree with Backup Qb on this. I have always wondered why concerned citizen is even posting. What team/player do you support then? You do post an awful lot for someone who doesn't like Tebow or the Jets. For the record I grew up in a household that has supported the Jets since the Namath era (my father is a big Namath fan) and I am a huge Tebow fan. So naturally, I was really excited to see what was going to happen when Tebow joined the Jets. Not so much anymore, but I am still holding out hope that he gets at least a chance to prove himself here. Not trying to be rude or anything, but the point of joining a forum is that you generally like either the team or a certain player. Are you simply sticking around because you want to prove to people that it didn't work for Tebow in NYC? Fans of Tebow are fairly certain that he may not get his chance here, simply because the Jets used him. However, we also believe that Tim will go on to bigger and better things, whether with the Jets or not.
Sounds an awful lot like last year when Tim was with the Broncos. Nobody thought that team would be playoff contenders, then look what happened. Just saying. Just when people start to doubt Tim, is when things start getting really interesting. Things usually start working in Tim's favor.
