MclRoy was a 7th round pick , There has got to be a reason he was taken that low, and don't give me the "Tom Brady was to" argument that happens once in a 100 years QB wise and Belichik isn't our head coach

Many of you are thinking about the Alex smith of years past. Recently he's been very good. Smith was statistically one of the best QBs this year. He had a different O Coordinator for like the first 5 years of his career and just started to put things together. I wouldn't mind having him at all.

Recently he put it together when Harbaugh showed up. Harbaugh isn't showing up here and he will go back to normal Alex Smith. Add in that our defense and OL and run game are not at the level of SF, people will see Sanchez all over again. I don't see how people who want Sanchez gone actually think Alex Smith will be an improvement. Alex Smith is basically an older version of Sanchez with a better offensive coach

17 TD's 3 int. Certainly Harbaugh played a role. The guy had 5 OC's in 5 years. No Jet QB has ever put up 17/3. sign him up

It's true Jim harbaugh made him better, but that doesn't mean he's terrible without Harbaugh. He was also improving as a passer before Harbaugh got there. He's completing 70% of his passes this year with an over 100 rating, thats not something to dismiss. When a QB like that is available at age 28 you'd be foolish to not even consider it.

bet you that number inverts to something like 3/17 if he gets here

alex smith has no talent that's why the 49ers are so quick to dump him for a running back

Harbaugh isn't coming here with him, neither is that OL, Davis, Frank Gore, that DL or defense in general. That team is better than use at every facet of the game, Smith will regress when coming here and he doesn't do well under pressure and when getting hit. Guess what will happen here, he be under pressure and get hit. If we were talented enough that Smith could remain at the level he produced in SF with Harbaugh, then we would still be talking up Sanchez as the future.

He put it together as soon as his team got a great head coach, a great o-line and a great running game that allows him to play simple football. Sanchez could probably look good on the 49ers too.

There's a reason they aren't going back to him despite his stats. At this point in his career he'd likely be better than Sanchez even here, but he won't be putting up the numbers he is in San Fran. He's pretty much Sanchez with experience.

and this is it. he has the best completion percentage in the league, and was like the 2nd or 3rd highest rated passer, but the 49ers offense plays to Alex Smiths strengths and minimizes his weaknesses. There's only so much he can do and if you shut the run game down he falls apart.

They lost to the Giants last year because the Giants were able to shut down Frank Gore and the passing game fell apart. He completed only 2 passes to guys not named Vernon Davis. They had talent at wide receiver last year but he went 1 for 10 on 3rd down in that nfc title game. He's way to reliant on vernon davis and while i like keller he's no vernon davis.

bringing him in and having him and sanchez compete for the starting job is something i would consider, but a transition qb is what he is at best.

there's a reason Harbaugh stuck with Kaepernick after alex got healthy despite Alex Smith having a decent year statistically so far this year.
